Hello!

My name is Dakota (I also go by my nickname Ducky - either is perfectly fine!) and I live in the southwestern US. I moved around a lot growing up, but landed here and here I will stay! I live with my husband Thomas (married June 2016) and our pup Westley.

Westley is a 4 year old Blue Heeler (AKA Australian Cattle Dog) and we love him to pieces. He even has his own instagram! He is named after the Dread Pirate Roberts from the movie The Princess Bride, but we call him "Dingo" almost as often as we use his real name. He loves all treats and toys, but soft stuffed toys will be shredded almost immediately.

I don't have any cats because my husband is allergic, but I still do love cats and I cuddle my friends' and family's cats whenever I get the chance.

Aside from crafting, I am passionate about many things!
First and foremost I am passionate about American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. I am an ASL interpreter and learning more every day!
I enjoy making beaded jewelry, and am currently practicing wire wrapping of crystals as pendants! I am getting better.
I enjoy thrifting, especially books - my library is mostly thrifted! I also collect depression glass (my pattern is Anchor Hocking Sandwich, or Indiana Glass Tiara, in primarily clear or amber).
Baking is a relatively new hobby for me, I'm no Mary Berry but I enjoy making cakes, cookies, and breads!

I am an avid reader (and serial re-reader) and my favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction. Some all-time favorite authors that I am basically always reading at least one book from include:

I worked in bookstores throughout college and I can't ever seem to have enough books. I usually have several books going at once - usually one audiobook for my commute, one "home book" in paper that stays at my house, and one ebook that goes everywhere with me on my Nook.

I am always up for trying out new books recommended by penpals and other friends! If you suggest something it might take me a while to read it but I will eventually, and then we can talk about it!
