~~~Hi swappers!! If I've been your partner pleeeeease leave me a rating...trying to get to do some more swaps on here and it's hard if you don't have ratings! Thanks! Also, I mark items as sent when I put them in my mailbox. We have mail pickup every afternoon. If you haven't received a swap from me, PLEASE message me and ask about it! I will never intentionally flake.~~~
Hello! I live in the beautiful New River Valley, on the west side of the state of Virginia. I'm a pretty quiet person in real life, I read, go hiking, camping, and letterboxing whenever I possibly can. I'm a book-obsessed, compulsive maker of many things, animal and nature lover, and collector of all things paper, fountain pen, fabric, coffee, washi tape, and a few other oddball things. I'm currently a full time student. I have two dogs (golden retriever and a rottweiler), a cat, and a fish aquarium. I'm active in several varieties of dog sports, and I'm married to the most awesome guy in the world who also happens to be my best friend. He may not participate in all my obsessed creative outlets but he supports everything I do and I definitely wouldn't be where I am today, without him.
I like taking time to stop and smell the roses, to appreciate the beauty in the small things in life. I think you can find something positive about almost everything if you try hard enough.
I can appreciate the different traditions and beliefs of many parts of the world and am a firm advocate of tolerance. I have spiritual beliefs that lean pagan, but I do not follow any organized religion. Please do not send me anything overtly religious unless it is related to a mythology or nature-based.
Reading, writing letters (yes, old fashioned snail-mail letters), Postcrossing, knitting, quilting, gardening, cross-stitching, baking, spinning, hiking, biking, letterboxing, reading, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, did I mention reading yet? As before mentioned, obsessed with books, coffee, tea, and all things fiber (yarn/fabric/thread) or paper arts related.
I love batiks and modern (not novelty) prints. Solids or fabrics that read as solid. Greens, blues, and purples in all shades are my favorite. I also like 1930s reprint style fabrics (like American Jane, by Moda), typography, and TULA PINK - yes, worthy of the caps because she is my all-time favorite fabric designer. But, I love fabric in general so if you don't have something in this vein I'm sure I'll find a use or a swap for it! :D
Urban fantasy, fantasy, YA, mystery, historical fiction/historical mysteries. Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, anything by Agatha Christie (and mysteries in general), LotR by Tolkien, Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (ob.sess.ed.) the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik, Jane Austen, the Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, anything by Gail Carriger, Jim Butcher, Annette Marie, the Dante Club by Matthew Pearl...children's fiction like Inkheart, Crispin and the Cross of Lead, the Bronze Bow, etc., P.G. Wodehouse, Elizabeth Peters.
Big Bang Theory, Ghost Hunters, Outlander (!!!) and Sherlock. My tastes are very limited, because for the most part I dislike knowing I have hours and hours of sitting in front of a TV before (hopefully, maybe!) getting some story resolution.
"Don't be afraid. There's the two of us now." Jamie Fraser (Diana Gabaldon, Outlander)
"We have never talked together the way we have sometimes in letters. Why do I meet people better in letters?" ~Anne Morrow Lindbergh
"I stand in Minas Anor, the Tower of the Sun; and behold! the Shadow has departed! I will be a shieldmaiden no longer, nor vie with the great Riders, nor take joy only in the songs of slaying. I will be a healer, and love all things that grow and are not barren." ~Eowyn
"I can't help but fly up on the wings of anticipation. It almost pays for the thud." ~Anne Shirley, from Anne of Avonlea, by L.M. Montgomery
"It is never too late to be what you might have been." ~ George Eliot
"Goodness is about what you do. Not what you pray to." ~ Miss Beedle, in Terry Pratchett's Snuff
I collect books, postcards (see below), geocoins, fabric, ATCs, postal stamps, WASHI TAPE (!!!) rubber stamps, fountain pens and inks, and stationery. I love antique anything but I'm not sure you can call that a collection...
POSTCARDS! I've been collecting since I was 4 years old, off and on. But I have one photo box full of ones I bought myself or that my family brought back from travels, and I keep all my "naked" ones in photo albums. Favorites are national parks, travel views, UNESCO, Halloween, anything book/library/mail related but I love any and all. I love funny and irreverant quotes, feminist themed stuff, all animals...the list goes on.
Cross-stitching...I only use DMC or hand-dyed threads (desperately trying to grow my stash of hand-dyeds). Prefer linen or evenweaves. Love silks! Favorite designers are Little House Needleworks, Long Dog Samplers, Bendy Stitchy Designs, Joan Elliott, Mirabilia, Glendon Place, Alessandra Adelaide, and pretty much anything Halloween. I'm not too picky though, if you have something outside my list I will find a use for it, I promise!
Anything religious or political (mythology is okay). Kawaii (sorry, just can't get into it). Alpaca fiber (allergic...so sad).
Hi Liz, Noticed you got rated a 1 for a CPG swap in June and haven't logged on since May. Can you stop by and fix that? Thanks!
We are in the same charm square swap and when I read your profile I learned that you letterbox. I do too! I live in Idaho and in our part of the state there aren't very many boxes, so I mainly box in Utah or Boise, ID area. My trail name is Tater Sue, what is yours?
Hi! Nice to meet you :) Wow, you have been here longer than me but I join more swaps than you :P After reading your nice profile, I believe we have certain things in common.
I am also a quiet person in real life because I express myself better in writing ;) I love books too though it seems like I got very little time to read now when I started to work >.< I drink a lot of tea and occasionally coffee <3 I like paper arts and tend to make my house messy doing all kind of projects that I'm able to do :D
I enjoy reading your favourite book list as it gives me inspiration on what to read next ^_~ Unfortunately, I also watch many TV shows during my free time which kind of limiting my time to read :/ Anyway, hope life is wonderful over there! Best wishes & take care!~ ♥
