About Me

I've just recently discovered the wide and fabulous world of crafty blogging, etsy, swaps, et al. I am a stay at home wife who is trying to make her obsession with all things craft pay for itself, but it is slow going.

My interests are many and varied and when it comes to creating I'll try most things once and then get hooked if I do them well enough.

Favorite Music

My musical tastes are very eclectic and I really love everything except for most rap. Even in that category there are exceptions tho. I love punk rock and country and oldies and classical, and classic rock and and and :) Examples: Toby Keith, Green Day, and Yellow Card are top on the list Cranberries, Alanis, The Beatles, The Four Seasons, Faith Hill, Evanescence, The Wallflowers, Dirks Bentley, Frajile, Lesley Gore, Carly Simon, Carol King, Cher, Cheap Trick, Kansas, Queen, Diamond Rio, Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, The Offspring, old No Doubt, Save Ferris, Blink 182, Bowling for Soup, and so much much more. Grieg, Beethoven, Bach, Sousa marches, Pachelbel..................

Favorite Books

Fairy tales retold a la Robin McKinley and Tanith Lee. Historical fiction and romance, Vampire stories, CSI type stories, adventures, and books in general. But not Stephen King. Blech!

Specifics

Beauty: A retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Rose Daughter, Spindles End, Sunshine, Wicked, Od Magic, Cold Fire, Scarlett, Blood Fever, Laddie, Freckles, A fistful of Charms, Briar Rose, A Woman Named Damaris, Dead until Dark, Danse Macabre, Deja Dead, Death Dujour, Black Dahlia, Da Vinci Code, Mirror Mirror, Thendara House, Dragons of Pern, I could fill a library

Favorite Crafts

Sewing, scrapping, recycled crafts, knitting upon occasion, basic crochet, needlecraft, beading, anything new that I can afford

My thoughts on...

Things I like to do

I sew a lot I do papercrafts up to and including but not limited to scrapbooking, altered books, cards, wrapping paper, and much much more. I would love to do some stamping but haven't started this yet because I can't afford the supplies as of yet. I love the vintage look. I am owned by 2 and a half dogs. I don't have kids yet but do watch my 2 y/o nephew rather often and things sometimes get... edited by him... Not my crafts, just my ideas:) I live in a fairly culturaly bereft area of the country so please understand that my items may not always be as embellished due to lack of material, but I am learning.

Favorite colors: red, pink, purple, orange, green, turquoise, yellow, brown, really anything. Not so big on pastels. I love really rich colors. Black and white is always good. I like warm tones more than cool ones but really it just depends on my mood. Not a fan of gold or brass, but with the right wear they're okay. Silver and copper are awesome. I dig shiny objects.

Favorite foods/snacks/candies: Dark chocolate is always good, not a big fan of chocolate and peanut butter mixed, love of all kinds in it tho, ferrero rochere will have me on my knees, fruity gummy things are good, not so much strawberry or cherry, more lemon, lime, sour apple, orange, peach rings, jelly bellys, see's candy (I lived in NorCal for most of my childhood and I miss this in my native home) Always up for trying something new. Cool Ranch doritos, Kraft's 100 calorie packs are fair game for the whole family in my house, peanut M&M's, trader joe's chocolate covered raspberry sticks and chocolate covered blueberries, sour cream and onion pringles. In reality I like food. I love to cook. My most precious possion is my Pampered Chef cookware.

Scents: some lavender, lemon, lime, green tea, gardenia, hyacinth, roses, basil, rosemary, freesia, honeysuckle, lilac, star gazer lily, some fresh cotton, pumpkin pie. I use clinique happy and tommy girl if that gives you an idea.

I also like the flowers listed above in their more physical manifestations. I am a garden nut. My kitchen windowsill is covered with two kiwi plants waiting for it to stay warm out, a rosemary plant, a philodendron start, a "magic" bean plant that kept growing, and an oregano plant. I have the dining room table covered in seed packets and plant starts.

I love animals but don't decorate with them much.

Seventies mushroom stuff. I currently own the whole cannister set, two napkin holders, salt and pepper shakers, and four mugs in this pattern. It makes me grin.

Candles. Especially yankee, illuminations, and partylite or really awesome homemade ones.

I am alergic to nickel but love big dangly earrings and despite them causing irritation will wear them anyway. I also risk all for vintage rhinestone jewelery on special occasions.

I love fairies, but more the style of amy brown and jessica galbreth

Tinkerbell anything, also Beauty and the beast

I hope this gives you a better idea of me.

just came by to see what I should do for your matchbox. I love Robin McKinley and those types of books. Just makes me smile to read your profile. So many beautiful things. I love See's. I don't see it much here on the East Coast. Maybe at the airport.
