Hi, I’m Natalka and you don’t even wanna see my last name…it’s got a silent J at the end! and people have been known to say "Are there any vowels in it?"
Anyway, I’m on sabbat-ical from teaching (high school, before that adjunct faculty) as a digitalist (I worked for MSoft tech support at one point), along with science and math. I also have a degree in English just to be a well-rounded renaissance grrl (plus comp. engin. school sucked when it was still punch cards).
I’ve been almost a year out of Tucson, AZ, after a decade and a half of living in the sun; not sure exactly where I will end up. My cat and car and I are in MI, helpin’ out the folks, but my stuff is in storage in AZ. I have just, on a ravelry post, realized that my ‘lighting issues’ (dim / candlelight only) often all night, as I worked afternoons, are probably related to getting plenty of sun in the daytime. Duh!
FAVES:
COLORWAYS: purples, especially dark violet, also black, lavender, and royally or oceany or sky blues, darker greens and burgundies, reds and earthtones and psychadelic & metals esp. copper and silver.
I like all colors, but tend not to use orangey, rusty, yellowy and olivey greens much -maybe because of my ex of 10 years who was a redhead? But I do like autumnal colors used seasonally, so go figure.
Also, not too much pink, girly-girl, lacy frou-frou Victoriana stuff, though a bit can be gorgeous.
I'm LESS fond of manga and anime, fantasy, dragons, elves, dwarves, fairies, angels, cherubs and things with wings (except birds and insects); I prefer no god/green man things, and while I like dogs, I'm essentially a cat person, & especially love white w/Orange, black, torties or Russian blues
My fave - THEMES:
*Nature
*Goddesses - in my practice, Matra Cyra Zemlia (moist mother earth - spellings vary) is my matron. I work only with Goddesses (dianic) but understand that this is definitely not everyone's preference. I am slavic by blood, but slavic Goddess info is very scanty, so for many years I worked with an int'l pantheaon. I have worked with Gaia, Hecate, Artemis, Hestia, Flora, Astarte, Green Tara, Sarasvati, Fauna, the Zorya, Bride (Brigid), Rhiannon, the Morrigan, Shakti, Virgen de Guadelupe, Changing Woman, the triple goddess, the Christian Mary, and Baba Yaga. I am interested in Arianrhod and Cybele, and recently with Oya, Freya, Erda, and Yemaya.
