Hi, my name is Jen. I love postcards, notecards, ok, just about any kind of card. I love getting fun stuff in the mail.
I collect used postage and send it to an organization that helps support animal organizations all over the world, so if you have any old stamps laying around, send them my way and it can help save a life.
Many people have asked about this organization, so here is some info:
The name of the organization is Worldwide Veterinary Services. You can see more information about the organization at:
You can see all the different charities they help all over the world here:
I have looked for American organizations that recycle postage for animal welfare, but it seems that this organization helps all over the world. We probably do not have a high demand for postage here in the US since we meter mail most things and stamp collecting is a dying hobby. Of course there are crafters who use them as decorations, but I save all mine and then will send a batch to the UK. I have contacted them, to verify that they are still taking postage and they replied that yes they are recycling the postage and also accept foreign coins too. I am sure they have a broker who extracts the postage stamp from the paper and then mounts the stamp properly. I have seen videos online on how they do this.
I have a dog named Winnie (like Winnie the Pooh) and she is awesome. Can you tell I love animals?
I like to learn about other cultures and countries. I have penpals all over the world. Any questions, just let me know. I am a member of Postcrossing also, but like this site better, as the turn around time is so much faster.
I have a few favorite artist, but nothing real recent. I have been to a lot of concerts but not recently. Some of my favorites are: Celine Dion, Gwen Stephani, No Doubt, (obviously), Madonna, Pink, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Foo Fighters, Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain, I don't ususally listen to a lot of music, so cds are not something I really care about.
I listen to a lot of books on tapes, since I have a long travel time to work. Right now I am listening to the James Patterson collection. I enjoy Michael Crichton, Stephen King, George RR Martin, A. N. Roquelaure, Laurell K Hamilton and Janet Evanovich. I also enjoy listening to YA fiction here recently.
If you have any suggestions,let me know. I like a lot of different genres. Not a lot of non-fiction, so if you have a good suggestion, I am all ears.
I used to be a big movie buff, but for the last couple of years, I have been out of the loop. In the last few years, the only thing I have seen at the theatre has been the Star Wars movies. When I do make it to the theatre, I like fantasy and Sci-Fi, (but I also like action/adventure, comedies and coming of age stories and independent films)
Just about the only things I don't like are Westerns, Quentin Tarentino, and sad movies were the animal dies.
THE WALKING DEAD-love it.
I enjoy Outlander, Game of Thrones, Modern Family
Here are a few of a my favorite things:
B- birds; blues hues; bath bombs, books
C- cats, cards, scenic calendars (i make envelopes out of them)
D- anything Disney, (especially the Disney parks); dogs, all breeds;
I- impressionist painters, esp. Monet; ice cream
O- old buildings/architecture,
P- Paris, France; penpals, POSTCARDS old and new;
Z - zoos
Not real fond of: (I don't hate these things, just not really interested in them):
Modern art, manga, reptiles, insects
I like to make cards, have a cricut machine that has more dust than use, so I need to brush that off and get off my butt and crank out some cool stuff. I like to do a wide variety of crafts but have never been into anything requires sewing (probably since I don't have a machine), crochet, and the like.
I would be willing to try out different types of crafts, but trust me, I am not Etsy worthy.
