I wasn't always this guy with a digital design consultancy and who co-founded and sold a start-up. I grew up wanting to be a comic book artist and even managed to drop out of college while pursuing an art degree. When I'm not writing code I'm probably listening to records and working on an art project.
I decided to join swap-bot because I wanted to become more involved in a community that values the time and effort required to hand-craft something and then share it with another person somewhere out in the world.
That idea that I can hand-draw an ATC, stick it in an envelope, mail it, and then at some point another human being will be holding it with their hands...that is a good thing. That is worth doing.
I'm not going to enumerate favorites based on categories because I love just about all of the things. This planet we live on is pretty awesome.
But I will say that I saw the original Star Wars in an actual movie theatre when I was 6 and it changed my life. I went to the Alamo Drafthouse Adventure Time Feast and now have a Mondo poster signed by Pendleton Ward. I've literally brushed shoulders with Stan Lee at Comicon. And I've seen everyone from Grimes to New Order to Willie Nelson in concert.
If you are the person sending me art, make what you want to make...not what you think I would like. You are way more interesting to me than...well, me. I've had to spend every waking moment with myself. I'm more interested in what you are all about.
