Crafty educator with a husband and two small boys. I love sewing, all sorts of handwork, and giving gifts.
I love sewing especially right now, but I have also delved into papermaking, cardmaking, felting.... I especially love to use thrifted and vintage items. I almost NEVER buy new but would much rather hunt for treasures and pay a fraction of the cost for them at a second-hand store or garage sale. I love to use felted sweaters and other old clothes with cool materials and repurpose them into something new and useful. I'm really loving fabric and prints from the sixties and seventies right now.
Don't watch television shows but love to watch sports--NBA (go Warriors!) and baseball (go Giants!).
Too eclectic to list. I'm listening to a lot of Dan Zanes these days with my kids but I also enjoy folk rock and bluegrass.
Wallace Stegner's Angle of Repose, anything by Jane Austen, Henri Nouwen for spiritual inspiration, the words of Jesus.
Someday I dream of running a non-profit in the (East) Bay Area which is part-craftroom (has all the equipment/materials needed for sewing, knitting, felting, crocheting, ets.) and part-classroom where people can take classes to learn these skills. But the non-profit really reaches out to those in need (at-risk youth, abused women/youth, homeless families, etc.) in order to teach them skills and help them heal through creating art. The other thing is that almost all the materials and equipment are "green" meaning they come second-hand and are repurposed/upcycled.
