I'm a mom who likes to read, quilt, craft, and take photographs of my travels, my family, and random animals. I am still in contact with my pen pal from 8th grade, 30 years later. I enjoy writing letters and receiving them as well. My favorite color is coral, my favorite season is Spring, my favorite food is steak, and my favorite scent is lilac. I like peanut butter cups, coconut, and caramel popcorn. I do not like dark chocolate, coffee, or black licorice. My quilts are mostly bright and modern. I don’t use earth or royal tones often but I do like blues, greens, corals, and neutrals. I like printed papers, cardstock, ink, stamps, stickers, watercolor, color pencil drawings, calligraphy, stamps, ribbon, washi tape, markers, thread, fabric, patterns, rulers, books, magazines, and good advice. I do not like Halloween, horror, gothic, or dark themes. I love stories of redemption and strong character development. I tend to prefer non-fiction but I do enjoy historical fiction if it is well written. I don't like Christian romance or Chic-lit at all.
I really enjoy non-fiction books about psychology, sociology, and business. I also like memoirs and biographies. I've read every Malcolm Gladwell book and I like his style of writing. As for fiction novels, I like compelling or likeable characters. I started to read Gone Girl and never finished because I didn't like any of the characters and I didn't care what happened to them. Here are some of my favorites: To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, Counterfeit Gods by Tim Keller, Accidental Saints by Nadia Bolz-Weber, The Great Divorce by CS Lewis
The Notebook, The Blind Side, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Princess Bride, Hoodwinked, Surf’s Up
Quilting, sewing, painting, drawing, card making, stamping, and collage.
Going for hikes in the woods, planting flowers and watching them grow, making scrapbooks and looking at photographs, planning vacations, visiting museums and parks, shopping in thrift stores, getting pedicures and massages, singing along to the radio, playing party games with my kids and their friends.
