We're all mad here

My name is Elizabeth and I'm 30 years old. I have my Bachelor's in Psychology which I completed in December of 2011. I worked in a daycare for the last seven years. However, I officially quit my job in March of this year. I am now staying home and learning software engineering. My goal is to become a front-end developer by the end of the summer.

I live with my boyfriend of 9 years, Alex. He is a software engineer and he is the reason why I am learning to become one. We met way back in 2010 when he was my boxing coach. He no longer coaches boxing which, in turn, gives us more time together.

I have a cat named Spice (though my boyfriend and I simply refer to her as Kitty) who is a rescue. She's 9 years old and roughly around 16-17lbs (she was about that big when we got her). She's a mackerel (or fishbone) tabby. She's a princess and a diva and owns the house and us. She's without a doubt the most affectionate cat I've ever met. She also, incidentally, hates being alone. She also, for some weird reason, is obsessed with the toilet flushing. She's also incredibly smart. She's primarily an indoor cat. The boyfriend and I do take her outside on occasion but only in the yard and on a kitty leash. Please note that if you want to send goodies for my little furball, she is allergic to fish. So, please no fish flavored treats, etc.

Please note that I have a cat. She sheds more than any animal I've ever met. No matter how much and how often she's brushed. With that said, I will try my absolute hardest to keep cat hair out of my swaps. However, as my cat is allowed free reign of the house, I can't guarantee that your swaps will come to you completely free of cat hair.

I consider myself to be a very open-minded and intelligent person. I am a fairly shy person and I do require quite a bit of time before I feel comfortable enough to open up to someone. However, I do find that I am very loyal to those that I consider to be my close friends. Though I do try to be nice, I find that I am often disagreeable and difficult to get along with. That, of course, improves as I get to know people. I have a very difficult time trusting people which means that I don't always talk about very personal or deep concepts with someone until I get to know him/her.

I enjoy philosophical discussions and chats about good literature. Of course, I am not above discussing music, movies, or other aspects of daily life. I love to discuss current events although I do tend to stay away from politics as it does cause quite a bit of problems. I tend to be very opinionated when it comes to certain topics and I am not afraid to voice my opinion even if it doesn't agree with the majority.

I am not as difficult or as aloof as I sound. I do have quite an odd/off the wall sense of humor. I suppose it can be described as dark. I am also spontaneous most of the time and can be quite random. For some strange reason, I have an obsession with grave robbers. I also have a mad and possibly unhealthy obsession with vampires. I suppose I should also admit my obsession for Alice in Wonderland.

I also have a weird obsession with conspiracy theories. I don't actually believe any of them, but I do enjoy them. I also have a deep obsession/passion for mysterious disappearances and unsolved crimes. Basically, what I mean is stuff like David Paulides/Missing 411, Elisa Lam, Dyatlov Pass, the Sodder Family, the Hinterkaifeck murders, etc.

I also really love the creepy side of Youtube (basically anything covered by the users Reignbot, Chills, etc). I also really like old creepy/uncanny valley images.

This is mentioned further down in my profile, but I feel like I should put this towards the top as well. I am lactose intolerant and, as much as I LOVE chocolate (and I do), I can't have dairy products. I also am allergic to coconut both coconut oil and coconut in general. So, please don't send me anything with coconut as an ingredient (this includes lotions, makeup, body oils, etc). Also, ugh, sugar really messes with my stomach as well, so nothing sweet. And no strong perfumey scents either...so nothing strongly floral.

My home is a smoke-free/vape-free home. I do have a cat so if you have allergies to pet hair, pet dander, etc., please let me know ahead of time and I will do my absolute best to make sure that my sweet kitty's hair doesn't come along for the ride. Also, while I am not against any persons' right to smoke and do as they please within in the confines of their own homes, please refrain from sending me items that smell heavily of cigarette smoke or flavored vape juice.

I am not a follower of any of the Judeo-Christian religions. With that said, I do enjoy religious iconography (especially Catholic). When I say religious iconography, I mean Renaissance and Medieval era art etc.,...not so much modern interpretations. I LOVE rosaries and saint cards/medals though I don't use them for anything other than to collect them. My own religious beliefs fall more towards Pagan. With that said, please don't send me religious tracts and please, absolutely no proselytizing. I will respect your beliefs if you respect mine.

I am not easily offended. With that said, I do draw the line at receiving things that are blatantly sexist/misogynistic, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise considered hateful to anyone regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

My hobbies include: READING!! I love to read with a passion. Now that I'm not working, I have more time to devote to reading which means I go through a lot more books. Anyway, I really enjoy horror/thriller, true crime, mysteries, historical fiction, sci-fi, weird fiction, urban fantasy. I really don't care for Christian fiction, romance, inspirational/self-help.

I also enjoy knitting when I have the time and inclination. In addition, I just got a Cricut for Valentine's Day and I LOVE it. I love every minute of it. I am always looking for things to make with it.

I also spend an inordinate amount of time on the internet. This is partly due to the whole programming thing. But also due to just a minor obsession with being on the interwebs all day.

My favorite colors are: black, purple, neon pink, silver, and blue.

If anyone is curious, my boyfriend's name is Alex and here is what he is interested in: comic books/superheroes (Image and Marvel are his favorite companies), Stephen King, philosophy, crafts (he's not very particular about which kind. He just enjoys making things), vintage Halloween, horror movies (especially Friday 13th and Halloween), boxing, video games (old-school Nintendo especially), zombies, Paganism/Wicca, the paranormal, the occult, etc. His interests more or less mirror mine.

Favorite Crafts

I love making all sorts of things. I love to knit even though I rarely ever finish any projects. I also like to make things with my Cricut.

In addition to those, I also like making ATCs even though I lost all of my supplies when I moved and I just never got around to re-buying them. Mainly just because I forget I like to make them. I also like soap-making and candle-making although it's been ages since I've done either. I also hand sew although my stitches are TERRIBLE. I do have a sewing machine but I'm terrified of the thing. To terrified to really sit down and learn how to use it. One of these days, though.

I would love to receive any of the following crafty related items:

  • Yarn (any kind except acrylic. I hate the way acrylic yarn feels)
  • Fabric with novelty prints (Day of the Dead, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and any Lolita-esque prints are my favorites)
  • ATC sized scrapbooking papers
  • Embellishments
  • Stamps and ink pads
  • Washi tape
  • Cardstock
  • Embossing powder (I REALLY want to learn how to use this stuff)
  • Ephemera (especially vintage, maps, Steampunk-esque, anything dark and/or creepy, apothecary/medical/anatomic, etc)
  • Ribbon
  • Interesting buttons

Collections

Living Dead Dolls, steampunk items, Batman related items (especially the Joker and Harley Quinn), pin-ups, tattoo flash, kitsch, Nightmare Before Christmas, zombies, Day of the Dead, adult coloring books, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, American Horror Story, kawaii stuff

I'm a glamorous fang banger

I've recently gotten back into wearing makeup again. It's been ages since I've really worn it. Working in a daycare isn't really conducive to wearing make up. Anyway, here are my favorite drug store brands as well as my favorite high end brands:

Drug-Store Makeup

Wet n' Wild ELF Maybelline Covergirl Pixi

High-End Makeup

Urban Decay Two Faced Jeffree Star Anastasia Beverly Hills Stila

I love eyeshadows in bright, vibrant colors. I also like glitter and duochrome eyeshadows as well.

For lipsticks/glosses and chapsticks, I prefer matte lipsticks in reds or darker colors. I'm starting to get into nude lipsticks and glosses as well. For chapsticks, I love Burt's Bees. I absolutely love peppermint/mint scented chapstick.

Misc. Stuff I like

Please note As much as I love chocolate (and I do... ALOT), I really cannot eat it. I am lactose intolerant and dairy products make me sick. I also have an allergy to coconut oil. And I'm allergic to very strong florally scents. When in doubt, just ask!
