I am a soon to be empty nester, an artist, student and poet. I love to do visual journaling, mixed media artwork, collage, altered books and altered dolls.

Most important/music favorites

I have ecclectic musical taste. I like just about everything except rap, extreme country, screemo and some of the popular teenage (mainstream) music. My favorite music includes classic rock, blue, folk, jazz, new age, soft rock.

Favorite Books

I don't read a lot since I have some visual issues. I am in school, so I have to read to my classes. For the most part, I read self-improvement books and poetry and art books. Also books on alterative health. I don't read much fiction, simply because its a chore to read and I don't have a lot of free time.

Favorite Movies

We don't go to the theatre much, but I have netflix, so we watch the movies when they come out on DVD. I am not a fan of horror movies, though I will watch thrillers and crime dramas as well as mind melters with twisty endings. I also think zombie movies are fun. I watch dramas, some chick flicks, musicals, classic movies, and documentaries.

Favorite Television

Dexter, LOST, Flash Forward, V, Mercy, Modern Family, Office, American Idol, Crime Dramas and Hospital Dramas like Special Victims Unit and ER, Court Drama, Talk Shows, News programs, Discovery, History Channel and HGTV

Favorite Crafts

I do mixed media art. I enjoy altering books and dolls. I enjoy collage. I draw and would like to learn to paint. I do visual journaling. I would like to try some ATCs. I crochet and have done some needlepoint and jewelry making. I make pendulums. I have also worked with clay and photography a bit. I write poety and short storie.

Family

I have three daughters, two step-daughters, two step-sons, a slew of foster kids, two grandsons and a dog and two kitties. I am in a committed relationship of 9 years. Two of my daughters and both of my step-daughters are out of the home. I only have one child (a teen) left at home, thus the soon to be empty nester description.

I HAVE AN ALLERGY TO LATEX, PERFUME AND STRONG CHEMICALS (SUCH AS SOME ADHESIVES AND SPRAY PAINTS)

My fav colors include earth tones, blacks, browns, greens, blue, creams, burnt orange, purple, darker reds, and muted yellows, brownish yellows. I'm not a fan of bright colors like bright yellow, orange, red, green and so forth.

My interests include alternative medicine, humanities, comparitive religions and intercultural communication, Genealogy, Engish, Art, children, and women's issues.

Food

I try to eat healthy. I attempt to eat gluten free but sometimes do have some whole wheat. I enjoy fresh fruits and veggies but still love pizza, corn chips and salsa or guacamole. I have yogurt with granola for breakfast and love herbal tea (no caffeine). I have a lot of food allergies, so I am particular about the food I eat. I can't have sea food, peanuts, strawberries or raspberries or macademia nuts, or anything with soy.

No matter how healthy I eat, I can't seem to lose weight.

I love sweets, but don't eat many of them. I try only to do sweets on holidays and birthdays. Anyone celebrating a birthday? LOL!

I love cheesecake and carrot cake and apple crisp with vanilla ice cream.

My favorite eat-out food is Mexican.

Pets

I currently have a dog and two cats, but I have had just about every other animal as a pet as well and love them.

Cosmetics

I use all natural cosmetics and skin care products as I have senstive skin and perfume allergies. I do like essential oils. Otherwise everything is fragrance free.

Candles also are only fragrance free or essential oils.

Dislikes

I don't like things with strong scents, like perfume, or body lotions or nail polish and so forth

I don't like things that are real chemically, like certain adhesives and lysol and spray paint (things you'd have to use in a well-ventilated area)

I don't items that come from a smoking house

I don't like moldy obects
