About Me

My name is Cynthia.

I'm 51 and my kids are:
A (girl): 15
J (boy): 13
My husband is 53 in case anyone cared about HIS age.

I love to bake and cook. So I'd happily receive recipes that you love to make. And, I much prefer my recipes on 8.5x11" paper as I keep a recipe binder.

I am a former farm girl who now lives in the city. But, I am still an outdoor/country girl at heart. I love to garden and can as many pickles and vegetables as I'm able. We are an AVID tenting family and are proud of it.

I am not very crafty but that doesn't mean I don't LOVE to get your homemade gifts. As well, I am comPLETELY fine with second-hand stuff (as long as it's in good condition).

I LOVE one on one swaps so if you see anything that piques your interest please message me. Frankly, one one one swaps and larger package swaps are my favourite and I'm often looking for people to do them with.

PLEASE don't send me stickers or random sheets for scrapbooking. I've been getting so many in my swaps lately and I have absolutely no use for them. If you want to put in a little extra (and I get that) I'd MUCH rather receive a bookmark or a teabag or a unique playing card.

Favorite Music

I love music. Much of my life is connected with a song. I often think one day I should put together a soundtrack of my life. I lean towards lyric-based folk music.

Just a few things I would LOVE

I collect cookbooks with a fervor that is unhealthy.

And also, things that I've loved from other countries that I'd love to receive again:

Kex choklad

Haribo Chamallows

New Energy Cashew and Hazelnut

Lotte Salted Caramels

Milka Choco Break mit Haferflocken

Ice cubes Gum - wintergreen flavour

Boston Baked Beans

Cow Tales Caramel

Toms Guld Barre

Toms Mini Saltkaramel

Anthon Berg Mini Marzipan Bars

Kanjers Original Stroopwafels

Manners wafers I've only tried the lemon one but, in looking at their website, I would like to try ANY of them.

Fazer Kismet chocolate wafer

But, honestly, I just love candy and chocolate. Salted caramel, marshmallow, lemon, coconut and chocolate, nuts and chocolate, tart candies...

I also have no real need for stickers now that my kids are older and again... I don't do paper crafts.

Favorite Books

I am an AVID reader. Here are some recent reads that I have given a 4 or 5 star rating on Goodreads (in other words, I liked them):

- Long Bright River by Liz Moore
- When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
- American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
- Know My Name by Chanel Miller

If you've read any of the above AND enjoyed them, I would be happy to receive a note of books that you've loved and recommend.

Comment: Oh my goodness!!! Your parcel was waiting for me when I got home today - it’s beyond perfect!! Thank you SO much! A zillion hearts if I could give them! I love everything. I just read your letter and can’t believe you actually painted that beautiful bag - is that your own design too? I LOVE it! I’m so thrilled about the recipes as well - so generous of you to share all those and I’m thinking of making butter tarts for this weekend when I’m seeing my son and his wife who lived in Toronto! My grandma used to make those too! Of course I’m totally excited for the OMGS and all the rest as well - they suffered some meltage but taste just as good and it’s an excuse fir not knowing how many I’ve actually eaten ;-) The Reese’s I’ve just finished! If you ever want to do a private swap just let me know! Thank you again xx
Response: Oh I'm so glad it made its way to you finally. I would have absolutely put together another package but it's always a bummer when things go missing. I would LOVE to do a private swap. Let me know when you'd like to do one and we can arrange details.

The chocolates look really yummy and were very well packed, I can't wait to try the recipes (they also seem yummy!), the planner goodies are adorable and the tote bag is wonderful - really, I can't thank you enough!! Comment: Thank you for the thoughtful and generous package, Cynthia! It was delightful to open each little wrapped gift, which made it feel extra-special like Christmas time or my birthday. I definitely want to do the little wrapped gifts next time, seeing how it makes such a difference. I loved reading your letter during the whole process. First of all, the tote bag is so incredibly perfect for me, with the quote from one of my favorite books along with the nature painting (and sentiment), it feels like it was made just for me. ♥ What a special gift, with the perfect combination of being both useful and beautiful. Speaking of which, I'll absolutely get use out of the colorful kitchen tools, especially the tiny tongs. :) The sweet william and black-eyed-susans (my grandma always called "brown-eyed-susies") will be a lovely addition to my perennial flower gardens, and I look forward to growing asters for the first time. I love the sentiment and color scheme on the bookmark, the fun variety of happy mail stickers, jokers, and washi tape all make me smile, and the personalized note pad is a very special and thoughtful gift. Thank you for the time and care you put into all of this for me. ♥♥♥♥♥ OH! I was ridiculously excited when I saw the maple syrup lolly and I'm going to eat it right NOW! 😄
Response: I'm so glad it made it to you! It was a delight to put together so I'm happy you're happy.

Comment: Thank you for swapping with me! I can’t wait to try these snacks and sweets. I love how you wrapped everything and the magnet made me laugh. I’m especially excited for the ketchup chips! Unfortunately, the chocolate bars melted— at first I thought the Oreo bar was some drink mix because it was liquid and squeezable. That’s the California heat, I guess.
Response: Glad it made it to you! Yeah, I wondered if the chocolate would make it. Sorry. If it were me I'd probably still try it after it was refrigerated for awhile. But that might be just me since I love sweets so much.
Comment: Hey, hello there! Thank you for the many playing cards. I also am sad about the failure of the tote swap, people just dropped the ball- not your fault. They are out there somewhere. I wonder if you emailed every one of us and asked those who had a tote to mail it to you, if anything would happen.

57 shades of wow beyond WOW!!!! I received your RAK prize painted tote bag today. Stunning. Beautiful. Amazing...doesn't even begin to describe it!. Thank you so very much! Clearly dragonflies are sort of my thing, but The Secret Garden was my absolute favorite book as a little girl. My mom could probably tell you it by memory alone, she read it to me so many times. I will treasure this forever. Thank you.
