Description:

How about a cuppa'? This swap is easy, just send two packets of tea to your two partners, and you'll get tea back for you too! You'll be sending out four packets of tea total and should recieve four back. Use two different kinds of tea, not not just your regular ole Lipton tea! Put them into a cute note card with a nice little note, and send them on their way! This should be a cost effective swap, as postage should be minimal. The rules: Newbies are welcome in this swap with a fully complete profile. Seasoned swappers should have a rating of 4.7 or higher, with no recent no sends. If you have a recent one that you feel is unfair, please contact me and we'll talk about it. Swapping is on the honor system, so if you sign up for this swap, you are expected to send out your swap. We want this to be fun and fair, and for our partners to be happy! This swap will be open for US and International players.

This is for tea bags, right? Not loose-leaf tea?

twobluecrows 02/17/2009 #

Some countries don't allow open teabags to come in the mail--they may allow sealed packets of teabags, but you have to check with customs.

slamophile 02/17/2009 #

Hi! You say not jut regular ole Lipton... I am wondering .. what kind of tea are you talking about? I mean, I figure if Lipton is out, Earl Grey, and stuff like that, is too? I'm wondering if you could just give me a hint or two of some names of tea that would be more exotic than the Lipton kinds. Just so I can get my brain directed in the right direction. Thanks!

Susi 02/17/2009 #

When I say Lipton , I mean the regular popular brand that many people think about. Earl Grey is fine, any black teas are fine, herbal teas, Celestial Seasonings, Tazo brand, Stash etc. just look in your stores tea section, you'll find many different kinds! also, this is for sealed packets of tea, not loose leaf tea, not loose bags (not in sealed wrappers)

Debesta 02/18/2009 #

Hmmmm, all my Gevalia, Celestial Seasonings etc are not in indvidual packs. Are they packaged differently in other parts of the country?

feistyfoodie 02/18/2009 #

Debesta - they sometimes come in their own sealed packets, more like what you might get at a coffee shop or if you go to a restaurant and ask for tea, sometime they bring you a wooden box with tea packets in them for you to choose from... Like if you buy a box of tea "sampler" it's usually individually wrapped. Hope that helps!

feistyfoodie 02/18/2009 #

Can I make a note here - if my partner happens to read this - I have TONS OF EARL GREY, please do not send me any. (I have loose leaf and tons of artisanal little bags as well; a few friends realized I liked Earl Grey a while back and for 3 straight years, all I received as gifts was Earl Grey, and I have been unable to drink it all.) - I will not be sending any of those, I promise. Hahaha

Susi 02/18/2009 #

If any of you have a BigLots near you, check there for tea. I just bought a whole bunch of nice teas there for $2 a box, rather than the higher prices at the grocery stores. That's why I decided to start the swap, to share what I found!

weeatcrayons 02/23/2009 #

Please nothing herbal i don't drink it and it will just get thrown out...i don't care for earl grey and english breakfast either. Anything else is open though!! I love vanilla teas...they're soooo yummy!!

chilady61 02/24/2009 #

Yes no herbals for me either please . it will just get tossed so please and no vanilla tea either please . anything except chai too I have tons sorry to be picky .

Kalimorgana 02/24/2009 #

If you like/dislike any teas, I think it will be easier to just put it in your profile. The chance your partner will read it will be bigger that way.

mystmaiden 02/24/2009 #

Just making a quick note, I'll put it in my profile too. I adore floral teas!

creationsbysamantha 02/24/2009 #

I enjoy Jasmine tea(floral I guess ;-0)

kgeslab 02/24/2009 #

I am HIGHLY allergic to chamomille, which lurks in many herbals, esp. clestial seasonings teas. I love black teas of any kind.

Heather71 02/25/2009 #

Hmm I had considered joining this swap until I read all the DON'T SEND ME messages.

topiony 02/25/2009 #

Me too. :(

mspeegle 02/25/2009 #

Me three :(

Susi 02/25/2009 #

I have to agree with heather, topiony, and mspeegle! I hadn't meant thi to be a I get to pick this kind of tea swap" It's going to make it harder for some of us who don't have those teas that people want. I might sound picky, but next time around it'll be a get what you get swap! JMHO

craftymumof3 02/25/2009 #

I usually drink plain English tea so I'm up for anything new to try. I think this is a great idea for a swap

leahsimone 02/25/2009 #

Sorry Susi, but I have to say all the picky comments turned me off too. I'd love to join one that was a "send what you like"--I'll keep my eye out for it!

bsbguess 02/25/2009 #

Hello, I am new on Swap-bot. How do I know who my partners are?

bsbguess 02/25/2009 #

Oh, and I am available to receiving any types of teas. I love fruity ones especially, but would love to explore others as well.

etherealgirl 02/25/2009 #

Yes, I too decided noy to participate with all the "DONT SEND ME" comments. Which really bums me out. As a newbie I need the exosure and this seemed like a nice cost effiicient easy international swap to join! :(

Please create another swap like this where you get what you get!

jessabelle 02/26/2009 #

Just to let you know, even if the tea comes in sealed paper packets, Australian customs will still open the package and search it - thus delaying it further than it already would be.

Susi 02/26/2009 #

I was wondering about our australian players, how the customs would handle it. Are there any Aussies playing, just out of curiosity?

Susi 02/26/2009 #

I have created another swap just like this one, where you can send whatever tea that you want to your partner. Everyone is welcome!

knitgnat 02/26/2009 #

Thank you for making the other swap available. I think I'd rather do it too!

texdel 02/27/2009 #

I love tea and I will be happy to try anything that is sent to me.

icetene 02/27/2009 #

on my profile fruit flavor, black type of tea, please don't send me Grey or Herbal.

Susi 03/ 1/2009 #

We are close to the signup deadline, and we are at #3 in the top swaps! Hooray! I do have a note though... I know that many of you have written what tea you like or don't like or don't want, please remember that your partner will do their best to send you that. Although I made a swap that is not profile specific, this one is the same. So if you get teas that you don't like you still need to rate a 5. Please take this into consideration, and thanks for playing!

melmay 03/ 2/2009 #

i like most tea, but not to hot on hebel ones

anmol2ca 03/ 2/2009 #

Hi This is my first time joining a swap so please once I join what do I do next? thanks for keeping it open for newbies

jen5253 03/ 3/2009 #

I love all teas, so feel free to send me whatever you'd like! :D

drummy 03/ 3/2009 #

I love all tea and wil accept all. I have plenty of tea drinking visitors for whatever is not to my preference! :-) That sounds like I give my guests the crap.. lol That is not true.. but everyone likes different kinds! :-) really.. honest.. lol

Puchita 03/ 4/2009 #

If is possible black teas for me please!

JeaninMt 03/ 4/2009 #

Looking forward to this fun swap. Having a friend over for tea is one of my favorite events and all the tea is in the "tea" drawer for everyone to pick from. I hope this is going to be a fun"tea drawer" tea party for all : )

Susi 03/ 5/2009 #

@JeaninMt I love the expression that this is a tea party for all! Also, having a tea drawer is a great idea, to let everyone have a choice!

hippofairy 03/ 6/2009 #

my husband loves to have tea with me... so you can send 2 bags of the same tea if you'd like! :)

jacksbluejane 03/ 6/2009 #

i love chai... :) not too big on blooming teas though.

jacksbluejane 03/ 6/2009 #

when do we usually get matched with partners?

Lori2378 03/ 8/2009 #

same here, all teas are good, herbal, decaf, high test! Jenniewren and bookwrm...anything special? or that you don't like?

ladydy5 03/ 8/2009 #

I wish I would have read the do not sends also before this. I don't mind people who are allergic but just becaue you have so many of Earl Gray, then don't participate.

Therusticowl 03/ 8/2009 #

I love chai teas for whoever gets me :)

feistyfoodie 03/ 8/2009 #

Susi - and everyone really - I just came back here to make sure my partners didn't request anything specific and see that I seem to have caused a bit of a brouhaha/hullabaloo! My intentions weren't in that vein at all and I apologize to Susi for causing the debacle.

Also, to ladydy5 specifically since you basically called me out - I'm the one who mentioned Earl Grey/having too many of that kind - actually, you know what? I'm going to be kind and not respond to your comment afterall. Unnecessary drama imo.

To everyone else I hope you have a lovely swap and whoever drew my name - if you want to send me Earl Grey or anything you want - feel free! I didn't mean to sound like such a pain :)

craftqueen 03/ 9/2009 #

How do you pick the partner(s) you send to? The reason I ask is because I was given two international partners and the cost for postage was over $5.00. Perhaps give one domestic and one international, unless of course I'm the only one who lives in the US.Please advise. I will mail out my envy's of two for tea this afternoon. Liz

kgeslab 03/10/2009 #

I've sent up to 5 tea bags in a regular envelope and it was not even near $5. Two teas should only cost about $1.50.

Degard 03/11/2009 #

craftqueen : You don't pick them, it's an automatic process done by the site itself.

PhoenixLM 03/13/2009 #

I sent mine today, thank you for hosting this it was fun selecting teas for others!

chandar 03/13/2009 #

Great Swap Thanks for hosting. I had a great time looking through all my Teas and picking the ones to send to everyone.

shfacey 03/13/2009 #

I sent mine off today!!!! Can't wait to get mine.

shfacey 03/13/2009 #

I have to respond to Ladydy5 about her comment to feistyfoodie. You were wrong to tell feistyfoodie she shouldn't have joined just because she has too much Earl Grey, she was just being polite to let whoever her partner is to not send her any. There is nothing wrong with it. If you have too many stickers does that mean you shouldn't join a sticker swap? I don't think so. She just wants something different...nothing wrong with that at all. This is the reason why you should read people's profiles, why you should read the swap comments before hastily making your decision to send someone something. It's only common sense.

happyness 03/15/2009 #

Just a note that i mailed my packages on 13th Mar but only marked 'Sent' today...Thanks :)
