Hello Internet, I'm Marianna. I'm twenty-one and hail from New York. I am excited to swap and meet new pen pals! I am new, but I take all my swaps seriously and try to go above and beyond--I never want someone to be disappointed by what I send them! I'm not sure why my picture is upside down, but after trying to fix it twenty times, I accept it.
Update January 8, 2020: Iβm behind on rating and havenβt been able to pay as much attention to this site due to a family crisis. If I forgot to rate you, please just send me a message and Iβll do it as soon as I can. Thanks.
I'm emotionally attached to the ocean. I like car rides on open roads and night-driving and watching the trees become silhouettes against the sky. I'm a messy sort of person spatially, and I like to make and fix things for myself. I'm a cat person but I'll never say no to a sweet and friendly pup. I like to write. And write, and write, and write. I like to journal, write letters, work on novels, and write poetry and essays. In my free time, I like to volunteer at my local community center, read, and be lazy on my phone.
I'm interested in sustainability and how we strengthen communities and take care of people in our world. I'd also love to learn another language, but I haven't yet.
Lofi Chillhop, Piano Music, movie instrumentals, some top 100, some less mainstream pop, Indie, Kpop (BTS stan, sort of like Blackpink and CLC), Electronica, and genre fusion like TOP or Kings Kaleidoscope.
I'm a Pride and Prejudice junkie. I read it and watch the movie over and over again. I like everything from YA novels to dense nonfiction. Next on my list is The Soul of an Octopus, by Sy Montgomery. I have a to-read list a mile long, but I don't get through it very quickly because thanks to the internet, I have the attention span of my pet Betta fish. I like hearing about books that have stuck with people a long time, and what their more thought-provoking books have made them think and feel.
Oh... yikes. What don't I do? I like embroidery, quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, origami, drawing, painting (though I haven't in a while, except for digitally), writing letters (obviously) and doing strange zentangles. I make jewelry very poorly. Crafts relax me and make me feel alive. I learned most of what I learned on the the internet. I work at a craft store, which is wonderful for my creativity and terrible for my paycheck. (I regret nothing.) I really, really love hearing about other people's projects and seeing what they're working on!
My guilty pleasure is martial arts movies. I tend to watch them late at night on Netflix when I'm knitting. I adore both versions of Beauty and the Beast. I have fallen fairly deep down the Marvel cinematic universe hole. As I said earlier, I watch the 1995 five hour version of Pride and Prejudice over and over again.
I LOVE EXTRAS. I really love to pack them in when I'm writing to people. Gifting is kind of my love language, so when it comes to extras, my opinion is kind of... the more the better!
I LOVE:
-cats
-sea creatures/fish (especially octopuses, they're so graceful)
-fantasy creatures
-space aesthetic
-detailed flowers
-kawaii
-rocks, stones and minerals
-handmade stickers
-stickers. I'm generally obsessed with stickers. If it's a sticker, chances are I will get excited about it.
-washi tape and washi samples. Lately I am looking for red, I don't have a lot of red tape.
-color-themed letters.
-CHRISTMAS TREE STICKERS. I am having such a hard time finding Christmas stickers in November...
-Your favorite tea
-Buttons! And beads! Aaah!
-rubber stamps
-stationary
-decorated envelopes
-handmade stuff! Handmade stuff is so freaking special. I make a lot of stuff myself, and I know it takes a lot of time and effort. It's so cool and precious to get something handmade.
-sewing stuff/knitting notions/crochet notions
-origami/origami paper
-Cute food/sushi/desert stickers
-stickers with illustrations of people
-eucalyptus, pine, tea tree, sandalwood, mint, etc...
-memes
-anything. Literally anything. I am always happy about trying new things, and I love seeing what different people like to do/send.
-broken sticker sheets and used/thrifted things okay as long as they are usable and in good condition.
Dislikes: Uh... I don't have many of those. I guess I will add to this if someone ever sends me something really horrible? Oh, lavender. I am not good with the smell of lavender, it gives me headaches. So sad.
I would love to hear about what you're making and what technically abstruse studies you've found yourself sucked into due to personal interest. Tell me about your favorite colors and teas and art/craft supplies and music playlists! Send me pictures of your art! Send me your poetry and rants on your hobbies and fandoms! I love poetry and deep conversations. I just generally like getting to know people.
