Hi there! I'm an elementary art teacher. I have a wide group of interests. The fun thing about being an art teacher is that you can always justify trying a new art or craft project! Lately my main interests have been sewing projects - sewing, embroidery and quilting. I also love all things small - ATC's, small paintings - anything little just really tickles me. I also love to doodle and have a million little sketchbooks and am always on the lookout for new fun pens. Fall is my favorite season - I love pumpkins. I've also been into birds lately - owls and crows mostly. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday - I love the cooking and the chance to enjoy family and friends. I like Christmas things that are homemade - I usually try to sew or craft a new ornament for the tree every year.
I'm a big reader - loved the Harry Potter books and the Twilight series but I read "grown-up" books as well! I love to spend an afternoon at the bookstore looking for a new read or just checking out the craft and cookbooks. My husband says we could start our own library with all our books!
I also love baking - cakes, cookies, cupcakes - YUM! If I hadn't been an art teacher I would have loved to be a pastry chef. I did have a business doing wedding cakes with a friend, which was a blast but life, house rennovations and babies got in the way of the cake business. So now we just make awesome birthday cakes for fun. I don't have any food allergies - I love milk chocolate and nuts (every kind), chocolate and caramel but not raisins! I'm pretty happy with any chocolate as long as it doesn't have fruit in it -oh and white chocolate isn't really chocolate is it? ;)
I love the color green, pretty much anything with a nature-theme, things that are simple and modern. I love Denyse Schmidt, Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, Heather Bailey, Amy Karol and Betz White to name a few. I generally like things in earthtones or bright and colorful, nothing pastel please.
Not for me: Disney stuff, Ameriacana, anything religious, things with kittens or puppies on them, anything science fiction, pastels, things with strong scents, anything with raisins in it.
If you need any other info please feel free to email me anytime!
