IMPORTANT NOTE to SWAP PARTNERS: I sometimes send from the UPS Store, so the postmark may be one day behind my "Sent Swap" notification. :)
I'm a happily married Christian geek (Dr Who/Star Trek/Game of Thrones) currently living in the Florida Panhandle.
Things I like: peacocks, peacock feathers, parrots, songbirds, feathers, sea turtles, beachy/tropical, Hawaiiana (not pinups or tiki), reading/books, cooking, coffee, chocolate, superheroes, Carolina parakeets (extinct), Japan.
Right out: fragrances, anything overtly anti-Christian (including occult/astrology), porn/adult material, gore, paisley, socio-political issues, overly cutesy stuff, paisley, Southwestern patterns/motifs, Engelbreit, Kliban, Geddes, paisley, anything for kids (dun' have any). Foods to avoid: cilantro, anise/fennel flavors, rose hips or mint in tea. And paisley (not parsley), heh. If it's a tea swap, please don't send anything with rose hips or mint (ANY kind of mint), even as a minor component, thanks.
Whew, sorry to bother you with such a long list. Now that it's out of the way, on to the good stuff!
Fave color is peacock blue (lighter than navy, darker than sapphire, with a hint of green in it).; favorite combo is turquoise/teal with purple and metallic. I don't like mint green, though.
Peacock note cards. Hawaiian Christmas, birthday, and mahalo (thank-you) cards. That is, cards with at least some text in Hawaiian. I always, ALWAYS need these for a hula class I take! Very willing to swap extras from a pack, since there are only ~6 people in the class, cards generally come 8 to a pack, and I don't want to use the same card twice. To be honest, usually I either mail-order some from Hawaii or improvise with beach/tropical cards, which are easily found here in Florida. Please no pin-ups or kitsch.
Things I'm collecting for other people:
Harley-Davidson poker chips for Hubby
NFL Saints items for Hubby
Monarch butterfly and songbird themes for papercrafting friend. She also does papercrafting, so if you send supples, I'll make sure they get to her.
Chocolate, much as I love it, won't survive shipping most of the time here, just like anything else heat-sensitive.
I have frizzy, uncontrollable yet slick hair--it's been described as "teflon hair." No, that's not a euphemism for dirty or greasy. If you make headbands or scrunchies you think might work for me and not give me a headache, please go ahead and send 'em! I need something that grips the hair, like velvet. Smooth ones, or smooth plastic, slip right out. Yes, it's weird.
Good: beach/tropical, Hawaiian, peacocks or their plumes, notecards and gift-wrapping items, "helpful for newbie" items, cool colors, grippy headbands.
Bad: fragrance, overly cutesy/saccharine, juvenile, cilantro, kitsch, Southwestern, paisley, poor condition.
