About Me

PLEASE NOTE: The post office I use is located in a small town. They work REAL slow! They also overcharge me and I get it back a week after I send it, so I think they take about a week to process everything. I send on time, my post office may post it later, unfortunately. I’m working on using a new post office! ANOTHER NOTE: I am a full-time Vet Tech student and did not anticipate the amount of work I'd be getting! Because of that, I am super backed up (like still rating from July!) so please bare with me! I will be rating shortly! Sorry it's been taking me a while but you will definitely get your rating! I get a lot of concerns about this and I don't blame you, I'm just so busy at the moment, and got a backpile of mail still from the summer, so I'm hoping I'll get the chance to get through it quicker sooner! UPDATE: 8/05/19- I am back from vacation, but haven’t visited my P.O. Box yet. I would assume I have a lot of mail, between pen pals and swaps, so please be patient as I’m rating. If it’s a big swap, I will rate when everything is received, just to keep myself from getting confused. I will get to each and every one of you I need to rate! Thank you! Hi! I’m Emily. I’m 29 years old and live in Pennsylvania. I’m married and have a 7 year old son and 2 year old daughter. I am a huge horror freak. I consider myself to be Wiccan. I enjoy reading, writing, fashion, and make up. I’m also a cosplayer. I collect stamps I adore little vintage things Love fantasy figures (dragons, faeries, etc) I call my fashion boho goth (I love flowy, floral prints but almost always end up wearing black) I love making new pen pals! I started when I was about 8 until 18, and am now just starting to get back into it! I’m trying my best to be as creative as I possibly can with it! (I find the creativity to be very relaxing!) As of right now, I don’t think there’s much I don’t like. I’m looking forward to having a fun time swapping!

Favorite Music

I really only listen to classic rock. I used to only listen to metal, but I guess as I got older I started to appreciate music that was more than just screaming xD My favorite bands are Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks is my idol) Really anything that is classic rock, I probably listen to it!

Favorite Books

I try to make time to read, but don't get enough time to! I don't know what my favorite books are, but I enjoy horror stories, have the complete collection of Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft and I love fairy tales!

Favorite Movies

I am a HUGE horror fan! My favorite movie is The Silence of the Lambs. I also love Saw, Evil Dead (original only) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I prefer the original, but did enjoy the remake) I also really like Marvel and Disney (thanks to my son!) My favorite Marvel characters are Captain America and Black Panther. My favorite Disney movies are The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

Favorite Crafts

I love snail mailing/ creative writing. I just got into the whole flip books and all (didn’t have the time before but now that I do I love it!) Things I love to receive are: -washi tape -stickers -stationery -tea (I’m open to trying ANY type of tea, I love it!) Themes I enjoy are: -faerie -Halloween -horror (although I know that’s hard to do, I don’t really expect it, but if someone can figure it out I’ll be impressed!) -succelent/cacti -boho - anything mystical/fairytale -mermaids

Dislikes

Unless it’s Halloween related and cartoony, I am VERY arachnophobia, so please don’t send things with spiders. I don’t mind Halloween stickers/washi with them, but anything realistic will make me cry. I have no use for post cards. Unless it’s a written on postcard for a swap, I do not need them.

Thank you so much for the pocket letter you angeled for me. I received it today and thought it was so lovely. I really do appreciate it!

@kfaye thank you for the suggestion! So far in the past few weeks I've been lucky, but if I run into trouble again I think I'm definitely going to look into doing it that way!

kfaye on Nov 13, 2018:

I make my shipping labels with Paypal. You put in the address you are sending to, the weight, size and specify if it's a thick envelope or box, how you want it sent (first class, priority, media mail...) and it will calculate the exact postage required. Then you pay for your postage online and print out the label right from home, tape it to your package & drop it off at the post office. It includes a tracking number that is also stored in your paypal account. It's pretty awesome!

@MyRetroSoul thanks! So far in the past week I haven’t had any problems! Let’s hope it stays this way!

MyRetroSoul on Nov 2, 2018:

Hey! I noticed you are having problems with postage and mail coming back to you. I suggest getting a little kitchen scale. Add a forever stamp for one ounce and a additional ounce stamp (.21) for every additional ounce. If your envelope is bulky than it is considered non machinable and will be charged a non machinable fee of .21 cents. It helps to write non machinable on your envelope. they appreciate that. As long as it’s still a standard envelope and weighs 1 ounce, the .21 is all you should need to add for the bulkiness and then of course, an additional .21 cent stamp for each ounce over 1 ounce. Anything non standard envelope sized or bubble mailer should be taken into the post office and mailed out if you aren’t sure. I hope this helps. In the long run you will save money because they will cancel the postage you put on to send out originally and you will have to start all over again once you get it back. Happy Swapping!

Thanks for the advice. They’ve also been sending things back for simple things, like having a washi sample or even just a home made envelope and asking for more money lately. It’s getting to the point where I’m losing motivation to craft. 😞

MSturgill87 on Oct 31, 2018:

Instead of re-sending several times, perhaps invest in a small scale? You can use a kitchen scale and weigh your items, then look on the USPS website and figure out the price of postage & add stamps accordingly.

Or, take anything that isn't a simple letter/postcard/notecard to the USPS and have them weigh it & stamp it for you.
