I am a caretaker for six special needs ladies. I have worked with them for 20+ years. I have a lot of interests such as reading, writing, drawing, junk journals, collecting postage stamps, penpaling ( I have 30 active penpals), postcrossing, auctions, estate sales, thrift stores and flea markets. I also love to garden and my favorite things to grow are dry soup beans and sunflowers. I also love to walk and hike. I live in the country with my husband, son and now two rescued torti kitties, Nettie and Mia. Our beautiful greyhound passed away last year. I love to learn new things. My favorite color is blue (any shade) and my favorite season is spring.
Anything 80s and some classical as well. The violin is my favorite instrument.
I love a good memoir. One of my favorites is Thomas Jeffersonโs Garden Book. It is fascinating and contains tons of correspondence between him and his family and friends here and overseas. I also love some of the classic childrens books such as Black Beauty, Charlotteโs Web, The Cricket in Timeโs Square and ALL of the Calvin & Hobbes books.
My favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption. I am not much for fluffy love stories, I also love the crazy lifetime movies made from true stories of crime etc,
Watercolors, pen and ink, junk journals, making small pottery pieces, I love the feel of the clay.
My dream trip is Australia! One day I will get there. And recently I acquired a 72 drawer card catalog! I named her Alice for my Aunt Alice who loved books and reading as much as me. She is a dark walnut and is six drawers wide and twelve drawers high with three pull out tables in the middle. She now lives in my craft room. This year in 2024 I acquired another card catalog cabinet! She is smaller five drawers wide and three drawers high. She sits up on tall legs and she came from a church that was closed. She was almost throw out until my brother called and asked of I wanted her. So she came home with me, all her drawers were stuffed full of cards as she was living in the church schools library for years and years. I named her Lucy for the youngest character from the Narnia Chronicles, another of my favorite books from childhood.
Some more things I love : Thunderstorms, birdsong, lightning bugs, fireworks, walking barefoot, Lake Erie, beach glass, picking cherries in North East Pa, visiting wineries, libraries, farmers markets, county fairs, chocolate cheesecake from Wegmans, the scent of lilacs, leaving the windows open at night in the summer, bonfires, the sounds of crickets and owls at night, stargazing, picking fresh green beans for dinner, box turtles, sorting thru my stamp and sticker collection.
Some of my favorite arts n crafts items are: used postage stamps, stickers, rubber or silicon stamps, small watercolor blocks, small trinkets like keys, shells, marbles, pretty stones, beads, ribbon, postcards new or old and used, old photographs, pages from books, inks of any kind, anything Tim holtz or similar, note cards, pretty papers, glue sticks, small fabric swatches, etc.
