About Me

**** Update 4/27/2014**** I moved to Florida in late 2012 and left Swap Bot behind. I am now back and ready to swap like crazy!

Hello! I am a crafty girl! I sew, knit, crochet, etc. I am fairly new to this but have found it fun so far!! I love all things vintage (1940-1950's) and am currently working on a etsy shop of my own knitted and crocheted items! My favorite color is red! I am retired from the USNavy so I have an abundance of time to craft and create.

Favorite Crafts

I love to crochet and knit and tend to search out items that are handmade. I also embroider and like to sew a bit. Right now its all about making things from natural fibers and being a "green" crafter. I have recently fell in Dotee doll love and adore the few I have received. I also have found that I like working with wool felt and am trying out some doll making!

Things I love

Red! Red! Red! I love red! I am a lover of the 1940s to the late 1950s. I try to find vintage~esq clothing and hairstyles to incorporate into my everyday life! I adore anything in wool and red. I collect hair flowers and hair accessories. I love to cook and collect cook books and interesting cooking tools. I love Valentines day and all its trimmings! I love getting mail and sending it as well. I love thrift and vintage stores. I walk and do the thrift store stroll at least once a week. I love pinups of the 40's.

Favorite Music

I am currently into singer song writters but like all music that is mellow and filled with emotion. I like Damien Rice, Ray Lamongtangue, The Swell Season and others like them.

Favorite Books

I tend to either read for pleasure or the learn how to do something and I really like books that take place in the Carolina's i.e. Pat Conroy or Nicholas Sparks.

Things I don't like...

Things made in China, ATC's, Walmart, Hershey Chocolates.... ( I know...) Non recyclers. Driving. Cars. Milk.

Comment: Dear Heatherann: First I would like to say that you absolutely did a wonderful job on the Bunka Doll Head Pin Challenge. She is so cute, I can't wait to wear her on my favorite sweater! I'm sorry if this was a type of craft that is one that you wouldn't under take again; but you did a beautiful job. I make cloth dolls, so for me just making the face is simple for me. I've made a number of doll head pins that I actually would make into a pendant necklace to wear. When my daughter was a toddler she use to wear doll heads that I attached to cording and used those large colorful wooden beads. She would wear them around her neck as a necklace. I use to wear them too and we would receive so many compliments. Of course, now she is 16 years old so she doesn't wear them anymore, but we have them packed and saved for hopefully one day when she becomes a mother and have a little girl of her own. Well if you decide that you want to do another challenge that is out of your comfort zone; I have a new swap called "Tilda Style Snail Toy under the category of toys, sewing, and handmade. Then I have another swap in August for Cotton Candy (Annie Style Doll) under Dolls and sewing. Good luck on your future swaps and happy crafting! Valerie Sengupta
