I am a 29 year old non-binary person (pronouns-They/Them) from the Canadian rocky mountains. I am a baker by trade but my real passion lies in writing, both fiction and poetry.
I am also a fiber artist, active in my local guild, and a planner addict. I am just starting my journey in pen palling and am looking forward to the experience.
My favourite colour is purple, followed closely by green, blue, and grey. I love washi tape, stickers, tea, all things fiber or book related, and I love anything hand-written! I have a pet cat and love anything cat-related, as well as sheep, hedgehogs, and dinosaurs.
I'm looking forward to sharing hand-written letters and post cards, inspiration, planner ephemera, and perhaps sewing or knitting notions/fabric/yarn. I'm not in a place right now to send finished quilted/woven items as everything I make right now goes toward my guild's biannual sales, but perhaps in the future when i have more time that would be fun.
I started crafting young, and this list would honestly be faster if I named what I hadn't done.
I've been knitting, quilting, and sewing since middle school. In high school, I got into photography, planning, calligraphy, and anything to do with fountain pens.
In university, I dabbled in cross stitch, embroidery, crocheting, scrap booking, book binding, and painting.
Since then, I have also learned to hand-spin yarn, and weave on my 4-harness loom.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, so I have a very long list of favourite books and authors.
My all-time favourite author is Kurt Vonnegut. I love all of his books, but my favourite is time-quake. In a similar vein with quirky, satirical, crazy prose, I love Tom Robbins and Gunter Grass' The Tin Drum.
Another genre I like is true to life literary fiction, like Truman Capote's Other Places, Other Rooms, or Cormac McCarthy.
I devour any and all science fiction, from Phillip K. Dick to George Orwell, to Frank Herbert.
There are also many many authors who are nostalgic for me. J.K. Rowling, Roald Dahl, Lemony Snicket, and the Grimm's Brothers.
As for poetry, I really love Edgar Allan Poe, Chaucer, Shakespeare, and W. B. Yeats
I am a movie fiend! Where as my books tend to lean toward the literary and high-brow, my true fan-person comes out with films and tv.
I am a big sci-fi and fantasy fan. I will always and forever be Harry Potter trash, both of the books and the movies. I love Lord of the Rings, I love the Chronicles of Narnia, I love Star Trek (original, TNG, and the reboots), as well as all of the Star Wars films. I am also a Doctor Who fan.
I also love everything Disney, everything Studio Ghibli, and everything Tim Burton, and everything Jim Henson. I'm pretty sure I've seen every single movie from these creators, and there's something so comfortable about watching movies I've loved since I was a kid.
