Hiya. I'm Neea. I'm a 30-year-old les🐝an. I'm a Sagittarius, single as heck and about to catladify myself. (The only thing I'm missing are the cats. I'm already fostering one, so I'm off to a good start.) I'm currently a part time student of various things related to foreign languages and cultures, and a full time professional procrastinator. I live near Helsinki in a small town in which I was born in 1989 and I'm dying to get the heck out of here. 💀 Feel free to donate to my cause lmao.
My hobbies are drawing and painting, all kinds of crafts (from cardmaking and snail mail letters and postcards to woodworking and pottery), reading, writing, enjoying nature, traveling abroad and learning about different cultures and learning languages. I'm currently learning Latvian and Korean while trying not to forget my Swedish. 🇫🇮🇬🇧🇸🇪🇱🇻🇪🇪🇰🇷🇯🇵🇩🇪🇪🇸🇫🇷
ALL THE GAY STUFF:
I love a good (auto)biography or a memoir. Historical stuff. Books about foreign cultures and languages are great. Anything about traveling. Anything that teaches me how to make things.
I like it. Do share you favourites with me!
I like making things that I can use, whether it's woodworking or pottery. I made a ton of wooden spoons and other kitchen tools in a women's woodworking class, and all kinds of pots and things in a pottery class a few years ago. I always like to try new things, even if I don't end up loving it. Lately I've been thinking about trying paper making and then using that home made paper in various crafts.
Recently I bought my first ever sewing machine and I'm eager to learn how to sew clothes I'm not too embarrassed to wear in public. :D I also really want to start weaving! You know, tapestries and stuff. I'm also somewhat interested in learning embroidery and other needle-and-thread things (so far I only know how to fix minor things, like replacing missing buttons, sewing patches on clothes and the like). Maybe I'll finally learn how to knit and crochet one day!
I've started practicing digital art on a drawing tablet, and I'm slowly getting used to it. It definitely has its advantages compared to traditional art!
Snail mail supplies: letter sets, letter paper, envelopes, postcards, address labels, envelope seal stickers...
Gel and glitter pens in fun colours!
Roses, floral print stuff, pressed flowers (harebells are my favourite!)
Glitter, sequins, sparkly things, holo everything!
Stickers of all shapes and sizes!
Glanzbilder or kiiltokuvat or whatever those are in English. These are not the same as whatever people call "die cuts" though. I think googling "Victorian scrapbooking" will give you the right idea.
Patterned craft paper, origami paper, book pages and pretty much anything I can use in paper crafts. Even things like newspapers in different languages! 📰
ATCs for my (so far pretty small) collection! ✨
Rubber stamps, clear stamps, stamped pieces of paper.
Surrealism and impressionism are some of my favourite art styles. Also female portraits in any style.
The art of Tove Jansson, Georgia O'Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, Yoko Ono, Artemisia Gentileschi, Janis Rozentāls, John Singer Sargent, John William Waterhouse, Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, Claude Monet, Rudolf Koivu, Akseli Gallen-Kallela...
Feminist art, zines and literature. Please see my "things I don't like" for this bit though!
Zines in general! Tiny ones, big ones, black and white, full colour, photocopied, fancy printed ones...
Sewing supplies! Leftover fabric, fun buttons, zippers, ribbon, sewing patterns... all sorts of things! :D
RANDOM STUFF I LIKE:
MANGA & ANIME:
BTS is my ultimate favourite group, Yoongi and Jimin are my favourites although I do love them all. ♡
Hyuna, Sunmi, Wonder Girls, 4Minute and all associated acts. :D ♡
Other faves: Monsta X, B.A.P, Mamamoo, Seventeen, BoA, Shinee... I like all sorts of kpop groups but I really only follow BTS, Hyuna, Sunmi and Monsta X. Honestly I never know what anyone else is doing. Ask me how many members EXO has left and I will have to google it, hahah.
ALLERGIES & DISLIKES:
I'm not deathly allergic to anything, but I'm not good with dairy (even if it's lactose free).
Hate is a strong word, but it's still not strong enough to accurately describe how much I flipping hate passion fruit.
I really don't like sour candies.
Some flavours I really really like: anything chai, spicy teas, coconut, chocolate/coffee, apple pie, cinnamon apple, cinnamon, cardamom, Christmas-y flavour combinations, honey, caramel, caramelised pear/apple/etc, Turkish apple, vanilla, orange, cherry, blueberry muffin/pie, strawberries, cherry, blackcurrant and other berries... everything yummy.
Some tea brands I like: TAZO, Pickwick, Bigelow, Pukka, Clipper...
Tea flavours I avoid: non-flavoured green tea, hibiscus, rosehip, chamomille, passion fruit
I like chocolate of all sorts! I especially like chocolate with nuts, peanut butter, salted caramel, coconut, mint, matcha, liquorice, dried fruit etc in it! If you send me Laima chocolate I will love you five-ever.
Those yummy nougat and nut bars! Any vegan snacks in general. I don't care if it's got honey in it, though, so I personally classify those honey nut bars as vegan snacks.
Liquorice, liquorice dragees, salmiakki and pretty much any kind of candy. Strawberry, cherry, pineapple... all sorts of fruity flavours. Haribo Peach candies are some of my favourites! 🍑
Anything coffee flavoured is A+++
Contemplating the inevitability of death.
People who misspell my name, or people who straight up give me a new name because they've never seen it before so clearly it can't be a real name. ಠ_ಠ No, my name is not Neena, Neera, Negra, Neaa, Nea, Nena, Naea, Naenae, Nee or Nae. If you're literate enough to navigate this website, I expect you to be able to write four letters in the order they're supposed to be written in.
The general concept and existence of men.
Bullet journal stuff.
Halloween. Pumpkins. Horror.
Those moustache graphics that were everywhere a couple of years ago. I get an allergic reaction in my eyeballs every time I see them.
MINIONS. Get those yellow demons away from me.
Most geek stuff, such as video games, male superheroes, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Stranger Things and so on. I don't mind female superheroes.
I'm a feminist but I have no use for embarrassing "Smash the patriarchy!! [picture of a fist with manicured nails]" or "Feminism is for everyone!" or "Feminists are cool!" or "Blarhgf blahrgrg the radical notion that women blahblaghfhgd" stickers and such. Actual feminist art and yonic imagery is fine (as long as it's made by women!!). Think second wave. Think Guerrilla Girls, Georgia O'Keeffe, Pussy Riot and all the unladylike screeching hags that men love to hate. I love rocking the boat - or, more accurately, hijacking the ship, killing the captain, throwing his crew into the ocean, freeing their hostages and abandoning ship (and then sinking it or setting it on fire). I'm an ugly hairy dyke who has no patience for fun, quirky and non-threatening "hobby feminism" that includes and/or coddles men, and my activism reflects that.
Homophobes can also heck right off. 🖕🏻
If you call me q***r I will consider it hate speech and report you. Don't send me stuff with that word in/on it.
I always send my swaps on time, and I mark them as "Sent" on the day I've paid for them and left them in the outgoing mail box. However, there is no actual post office in my town. I pay for and leave my mail in a corner shop which does nearly everything that a post office normally would - except canceling stamps. This will get done in a mail sorting center in another city. Therefore, whatever I send will NOT be stamped until a few days later, if even then, or at all! This is 100% out of my control, and if you give me a lousy rating for something as stupid as that, then, uhh. Congrats on being petty, I guess?
Similarly, giving me a 1 when I haven't had the chance to offer to resend the swap says more about you than it says about me.
