About Me

I am Mama to 3, amazing, creative grown children, with 3 grand babies to round out the fun.

I can be found meandering the beach in search of Seaglass and whatever else the ocean gives up. I live on the Coastside which is paradise. I never seem to stray far from the water.

I love to create ~ Art of all types, Jams, chutneys, butters, pickled things, liqueurs, ect. I love making these with my sister, which is one of my most favorite things to do. Plus I get to hang out with my sister ~ Awesome!

Favorite Books

Reading is hand's down my most favorite thing in the world. Love books ~ Love the smell of old books too :). Basically, if its a book, I will most likely read it :).

I adore fairy tales. Growing up, I read them like they were going out of style, and then over and over. Even with flashlight under covers. Love books like A secret garden, The little princess, ect.

My favorite fairy tales ~ Snow white and rose red, sleeping beauty, little red riding hood, princess and the pea. Along with story's of the sea and mermaids.

Favorite Movies

Pride and Prejudice ( all of them) Sense and sensibility, Terminator, Practical Magic, The princess Bride, Top Gun, Breakfast Club, Indiana Jones, Fried Green Tomatoes, Risky Business, The Abyss, Fairy tale themes movies and a good action or romance to round out the fun. Love a good 80's movie haha. Wait, those might all be above:).

Favorite Television

New Girl, Alias, Chelsea Lately, Anything Baby Birth wise, Quilting Arts, The big bang theory, PBS. Oddly enough I also watch car repair shows.

Favorite Crafts

Quilting ( traditional, Amish and miniature), Needlework ( redwork, greenwork, bluework, french knot work), Stained Glass, Altered Arts, Altered Journals, Bookmaking, ATC's, Encaustics, Plaster Work, Jewelry Making, leatherwork.

I love, love, love vintage fabrics, trim, lace, buttons. Since I quilt and create Altered books, along with make books of all kinds , pretty much everything I do I sneak in some kinda of fabric or trim. I have lots of beautiful fabrics and all that goes along with it. This is why Swap Bot is so fun to me as I love to share.

Likes and Not Likes :)

Likes and Loves~ I'm pretty easy. Favorite Colors: Green, nature colors, earthy tones. Any color really goes, but my least favorite is bright red. It has its place though :). Im learning to love it more.

I adore all types of ephemera. Vintage photos, oddball bits and bobbles of papers and vintage lace trims, buttons, ect. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Allergies ~ I'm highly allergic to wool. Like, the down for days with migraine kinda allergy. Makes me sad because there are some amazing things to do with wool!

Also, Almonds and Bee's. Odd, I know. But really, can be the death of me ~ Thank goodness for Epi pens as there is to much art to make for that to happen.

Note ~ I do have one sweet, elderly gentleman who brings me great joy as a companion ( doggie) so please let me know if you are allergic to anything pet wise. I want to be sure I respect any health concerns you may have. Although my art room is not generally a hang out spot for him. Still...I care about you!

Food ~ I am Vegan. Have been vegan for a long long time. BUT I of course cook for my family and friends who are all over the board, so I'm not close minded to anything.

Promise

I promise to always strive to make your swaps extra special. I hope to make someone smile or add a little sunshine to their day. Just sayin':).

I also promise to touch base should something crazy come up and I cannot meet timeline. I only had this once when I was making something really special/handsewn and just needed one more night into wee hours to finish. I did let my swap partner know and communicated. And at very start of joining swap bot~ 1 international postcard did not make it to its intended gal. I imagine it was either my writing or international mail. But I made it right immediately. So please know if you get a note that is typed up, take no offense. I have not the most beautiful writing as I age.

Comment: I wish I could give more than one heart for this package, it's absolutely awesome! Thank you so much, Lisa. You have taken so much care and attention putting this together, with a mixture of interesting bits and pieces, and items chosen from my profile (and something for the kids!). I really can't thank you enough, it's made my week! :) PS. Your sea glass is beautiful, there's a few new colours to add to my (poorly tumbled Australian) collection! :D

Comment: Wow!! That was such an amazingly interesting box - so much so that a simple thank-you and heart is not adequate for thanks. I am pretty busy this week, but when I have some spare time, I am sending you a snail mail proper thanks.

Comment: Holy cats, Lisa Brians, you just sent me one of the most generous, wonderful, happy-making packages I have ever received! It's totally unfair that I can only give you one star for this. You went so far above and beyond. The selenite is indeed an amazing thing to look at, with it's natural tower formation. But the lovely air plant arrangement inside the shell blew me away! And the beautiful fabric you used to wrap with... how did you make the fabric ribbon? Did you hand dye it? I think I am going to start wrapping presents with fabric too! Thank you, a thousand times!
Response: Aww..your welcome. Thanks for making my morning. Little bit of tears here:). Love that you like what I sent. Enjoy. The ribbon is actually Sari silk. Hope you can use in something fun. I like to wrap in fat quarter fabrics or close to it so pretty much everything can be re-used in some other art form. This Sari silk I got from a gal I love on Etsy, but I have torn my own. They are always colorful so dont need to dye. xoxo, Lis

Comment: 500 hearts to you, Lisa!! First of all your ATC is exquisite! Such a beautiful job front and back..there are things magically effervecing off of it from different angles!!! I really love it! And then there are all the extras...the amethyst gem, the special wrappings and ribbons, the pieces of gorgeous material, extra sheets of gorgeous card stock and the very special jelly fish! Jelly fish had made the trip, has been misted and is doing well on my kitchen window!! That is a bromiliad, am I correct? Well I certainly LOVE everything...you really went above and beyond! I sure hope you have re-couped from Whooping cough. No one should have to go through that!! Thanks so much for everything!! Chari
Response: Yay! SO glad it got there in one piece :). I kinda laughed when wrapping as it looked like a big bubble. Yes, its a Air Plant (Tillandsia Bromeliad ). The glass piece on top is off antique chandelier I tore down to bare bones. ATC's are one of my very favorites. And anyone who knows me, know I cannot make something without a piece of fabric, lace, silk ribbon ect, ha! Makes me smile that you enjoyed your package. I know you love purple, hence the purple things:). Thanks for the good wishes, whooping cough is miserable.Who knew it was even back? Not me, sigh. But yes, I am over the worst part, so that makes me happy. Take care ~ maybe we shall pass again in a swap one of these days.
