update july 8 - i am working on merging this profile with @danatropicana and i am leaving this profile messy so folks can understand that shortly after the last update, i was hospitalized in a mental hospital for a month, and when i got out i was depressed and overwhelmed and neglected my responsibilities. i didn't know about the rule about multiple accounts and i apologize to anyone who reads this. thank you for your time and patience!

IT'S JUST ANOTHER MANIC MON-NO-WAIT-IT'S THURSDAY
"I'm my own identical cousin, just call me Patty Duke" - Das Racist in "All Tan Everything"
** On The Patty Duke Show, Patty Duke acts as both main characters (Patty Lane and her identical cousin Cathy Lane)* - (http://genius.com/84441)
(The commenter on Rap Genius did not mention the next level of that show, true irony: search "patty duke bipolar" for more info. My parents read her first book when I had my first manic break in 1995. Wow, it's the anniversary of my bipolar disorder! Happy Anniversary, Crazy Dana!)
Yeah, so that happened. I am still able to swap but I just missed my first deadline and feel awful about it so I guess this is a disclaimer.
Disclaimer will be updated as my health improves. Until then, I will do my best not to be a big flake...
I live in rural WA state with my husband and our two dogs and one cat. We just moved here from Central Florida (Brevard County aka "Countdown County" and "The Space Coast" because of Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center - fun fact: the area code for the county is 321 because that's the last thing astronauts hear before "liftoff" - read more about it here on Metafilter.) in April 2015 and I am enjoying it tremendously.
Born in Montreal, moved to South Florida in middle school, then to Boston for college and medical school and radiology residency (I love anything having to do with X-rays and anatomy!), then I left my residency because I'm legally crazy (bipolar) and then lived in Chicago, New York, Miami, and finally Central Florida. So much moving!
When I was younger, I traveled a great deal with my family, and we always collected postcards everywhere we went. I had PCs from the Canadian Rockies (so many pretty glaciers and fields and RCMPs); and up and down the Eastern Coast from Montreal to Hollywood, FL, from when we would drive round-trip every winter to visit my snowbird grandparents until we finally moved to FL ourselves; and from all the trips we took to Disney World and EPCOT (so many awesome vintage Disney PCs and other paraphernalia! an "It's a Small World" picture covered 45 single so we could listen to the song over and over just like on the ride (sorry if I just put that song in your head...) tickets from when the rides had tickets! both the A-B-C-D-E ones and the all-the-same ones! SO MUCH VINTAGE DISNEY!); and from various places around Florida that we would visit.
When I was in college, I did the mandatory "it's the late '80s and I am a worldly student and I am going to backpack across Europe with a Eurail pass, a copy of Let's Go Europe, and lots of embroidery floss (I embroidered all of my clothes when I didn't feel like reading or talking to my travel pal) and send SO MANY postcards to my parents and grandparents from all over Europe (will list countries some other time) and one day my mom gave me an envelope with every single postcard I had sent them and my grandparents and it was totally awesome! she also gave me my baby books and my original Canadian and Quebec birth certificates and those were cool to have and I put them in a box with my green card and my passport and my foreign currency and I adored looking through that box! I went back to Europe in 1998, this time just to Hungary, but I had so much cool stuff from there as well.
Well, I went crazy and was hospitalized and my evil roommate sold whatever belongings of mine possible to pay the rent and threw out all the rest. So I do not have my physical memories, the baby book my mother lovingly made while she was pregnant and the other one she marked my every milestone until I was 7 in, my passport, my green card, my postcards, my very cool stuff. Sold and destroyed. Also, my dog died shortly after the roommate threw a mid-Century modern side table at her while I was collecting a few items to take with me to my parents before I was hospitalized. So I lost a lot. But I have vivid memories of everything good and even though I am tearing up a little because of the stuff and mostly because of my sweet baby girl dog, I am coming to terms with it and I think that swapping will help me create new memories and help me heal a little more in this area. Because I am mostly healed, it was a long time ago, but I will never be fully healed. WHOO BOY HEAVY STUFF. /heavystuff
Anyhow, I've loved getting and sending crafty things in the mail everywhere I have been and I'm very excited to be here and to meet new and interesting people! Contact me if any of this resonates with you in any way!

Just came across your profile and wanted to say hi. Love your music taste, and am jealous of all the places you've lived (I'm in Washington, too, by the way!). Hope you're enjoying SB! :-)
Welcome to Swap-bot! I hope you love it here. Where in WA do you live? I'm just south of you, near Mt. HoodΓ’β’Β₯
