Helllo dear swappers!

I hope you are well and that your life hasn't been turned upside down because of Covid. I am still working full time in a secondary school and have seen many of my colleagues unwell with it. A few students tested positive too which has been quite disruptive and worrying for everyone involved.

I have , fortunately, been keeping busy with knitting and crochet. I have also made advent calendars for 3 friends this year...

To keep active, I jog about 20 minutes a day, while walking my dog...or should I say, while running my dog!!!😁

Stay safe 🙏 ❤ 💓 💙 💕 and keep swapping!!

About Me

French woman living in England, married with 3 children and one little dog! I work as an LSA (Learning Support Assistant) in a secondary school.

If you don' t receive a swap from me, send me a message first before rating!! Communication is everything!!

After reading quite a few other profiles, I realised I had not told you much about myself, just facts!

I find it hard to describe myself but I' ll try! I enjoy being quiet, reading a book (cookery, crafty, or simply a good story), reading profiles on Swap- bot!, writing letters or my diary, sewing, knitting...depending on my moods...

When I am in the mood, I go the opposite way and turn the music up, dance in the living room and am bubbly, daft, chatty, gossipy even!! I enjoy cooking with cream and chocolate. I don' t believe in diet foods, I always read the labels and am not a fan of E numbers or low fat food! I hate diet drinks! I think it is important to eat properly, without excess and have a real treat every now and then! I enjoy my food.

I garden with my 13 year old son and a wonderful friend. We rent 3 allotments and grow constantly during the months of February to November! We use the lasagna gardening method! Check it online, it' s magical and very easy! ( no digging!!!). We have been very successful. We garden weekly! I love growing vegetables, my favourite being French beans, leeks, tomatoes and potatoes. We grow lots of berries and make jam, jellies and crumbles)

Favorite Television

I enjoy Home & Away, Neighbours, MKR ( My kitchen Rules), I' M a Celebrity, Get me out of Here!!, The Great British Bake Off, Who do you think you are?, Long Lost Family...and comedies, and love stories!!

Hate watching sport on TV, especially football and tennis ( feels like the same game over and over again!)

Favorite Music

I love most musics, not too keen on Opera or Heavy metal but like anything in between. My favourite band/ singer are Yothu Yindi, Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, Abba, and French music. Playing Vivaldi in the car at the moment!

Favorite Books

Really enjoyed reading A town like Alice and Head over Heels by Sam bailey. Also love the Bridges of Maddison County. Lately, I have been reading boring books, I need some inspiration please, I don't like anything gory or violent. Just a good story, well written and moving.

Bad quality chocolates ( like cheap milk chocolate),

Cats scare me, they always stick their claws in my thighs!! Ouch!!

Family recipes,

anything handmade,

crochet/food magazines,

seeds for my garden,

fabric ( especially Liberty!!!)

anything useful,

anything warm, unusual, funny,

anything that takes me to a different place through taste/ smell,

good books

seasonal decorations/ ornaments

good quality chocolate, anything nutty or fruity, hot drinks ( tea/ coffee/ chocolate...)... Really love meringue and nougats and nuts!

I also enjoy food that contains alcohol!!

I enjoy Pilates

Crochet books (with charts!)

Cookery books

But most of all, I love my friends and family

POSTCARDS : I prefer a naked postcard with one landscape view ( day or night time) or a recipe on the front. Please, write the date on it and your 3 favourite places to go to ( on holiday/ vacations)! I " stole" this one from somebody on this site so thank you, it' s a good idea!! Please, don' t send me dull coloured postcards, like beige or white and very light yellow... They make me sad!...Take me with you on your travels! Show me the sea and the land and the food you are discovering!Thank you!

Earrings!!! All types, but no clip ons! I have pierced ears!!! Love food earrings!

Any colour, any material except plastic.

Favourite colours are red/ brown/ orange / ye!low and turquoise! Love opals!!

Also really like seed bead earrings and micro macrame earrings!

Favourite movies

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert! , Elf, The Bridges of Madison County, The Joy Luck Club, The Untouchables, Twilight, The Theory of Everything...

Say one word and you may appear stupid, say nothing and you may appear clever!

Go where you want, die where you must!

People should cry when you leave, not when you arrive!!

Food is the most abused anxiety drug and excercice is the most underutilized antidepressant.

Comment: Thank you for your beautiful, long and chatty letters, Charlotte. I loved learning about your life and the things and people that make you happy. I especially loved learning about your job, I work in education (I teach TEFL methodology to university students) and inclusion is a big topic in my classes. I also enjoyed learning about your opinions on Brexit and I couldn't sympathize more (without going into too much detail on an open platform like this). I hope everything's going to turn out for the best somehow. Thank you for including pictures of your family and your Sunday walk - the crocheted tomato is so cute, you're very talented :) Thank you a million for including some of your favorite recipes too. I can't wait to try the meat balls especially!! Many thanks for sharing a week of your life with me :) Happy spring and all best, Silvia xox
Response: I enjoyed writing every page! Hope you enjoy the meat balls, serve them with lots of tomatoe sauce!

Comment: Thank you for the Banana Cake recipe. That is a very popular one and probably one that everyone has grown up with! It must be because bananas ripen too quickly! That photo you took of the Versailles Gardens is lovely.
Response: The first time I ate a slice of banana cake was in my 20s. They aren't popular at all in France. I don't know why. I tried many recipes but never liked the texture much until I came accross this one.

Comment: Hi Charlotte! Just got my crocheted bookmarks today. Thank you so much! They are just beautiful and will make reading that much more fun. How clever you are making them. I am no good at those kinds of crafts. I loved hearing about all your favourite books. Must check some of them out. I like reading books that make me laugh. I read "Me before you." and saw the movie which was so sad. I did like the MC though. A great character. I'm reading The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris about a British girl going to work in a chocolate shop in Paris. It's a light and fun read. Thanks for the tropical stickers, too! So fun! Thanks again! Cathy/Writercat
Response: Oh là là!!! This book sounds...delicious!! Glad you like the bookmarks, I am going through an acute crochet phase at the moment!! It could be worse, I could be addicted to...chocolate!! :)

I had so much fun getting you items for the advent calendar. It makes me extremely happy to know you are enjoying each day. Maybe we can do a private swap next year for an advent calendar? May your Christmas be extra special since you are extra special yourself.
