Mini Bio - 49, 16 year old son - Matt, engaged to Tim. I grew up in a small town, moved to the cities for many years and came right back to the small town! Country life for me. I was an executive assistant at Best Buy Corporate for 13 years. During my time there I lost my hearing, so when I was laid off, I was able to apply for disability and "retired" at age 39. I do not know ASL. We have two small dogs, a Papparanien named Bear and a 14 year old Chihuahua mix named Boots. We have two parakeets - Thelma and Louise. I lost my brother in a kayaking accident, but have a step brother and step sister - both younger than myself. My mom lives in Alaska and my dad lives 12 miles from me. I have lived in Alaska, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Currently working part time at Family Dollar!
Likes? I will just list them and there are probably a ton more that I don't have on here - Dr Who - Horses - Dogs - Fairies - Pink - Girly things - Wonder Woman - My Little Pony - Penguins - Droids - Groot - Trains - Minions - Nightmare Before Christmas - Adult Coloring (not curse coloring books) - Wolves - Jon Van Zyle (artist) - Christmas - Halloween - Bears - Hairbows (for me) - Stickers - Stationery - Stamps - The Environment - Turtles - Travel - Chocolate (except White) - Disney - Eeyore - World of Warcraft - Entering Sweepstakes - Writing Pen Pals - PostCrossing - If it's not here, I probably still like it and didn't think of it
Dislikes - Coconut Flakes - Tofu - Mushrooms - Live Snakes (just can't deal with them) - wow - I am not coming up with much that I dislike!
I could really use ephemera of any kind as well as die cuts. I just started doing crafting again and haven't a lot of these items.
Allergic to green beans
Reading - I love to read. I am a very eclectic reader with tastes ranging from fantasy to mystery to some romance (no harlequin). Currently reading Diane Mott Davidson, Robert Jordan, Tom Clancy, Faye and Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz. Always willing to give an author a chance so if you have suggestions - throw them my way!
Movies - Since I am hard of hearing, I have to wait until they arrive on DVD. I tend to go for action, drama, comedy. Just watched Wonder Woman yesterday and loved it - so awesome. We have a large collection of Disney movies. Love Fiddler on the Roof, Bridge on the River Kwai, Armageddon, The Hunt for Red October. I always enjoy a good disaster movie - don't even care if it's corny. Not a fan of slasher/horror movies at all. My fiance' loves them and I just take off my hearing aids and turn my back to them and he can watch all he likes.
TV Shows - we canceled cable so we rely on Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu. Right now I am binge watching Bones since the episodes are starting to expire and I want to get through them before they are gone. I can watch Dr. Who any time of the day. I love cooking shows and a lot of Food Network Shows. I watch Masterchef and Masterchef Junior. Oh so many shows are on my watch list that I can't list them all. Open to suggestions!
Music - unable to enjoy due to hearing loss, sending me music to listen to would not be a good choice. I wish I could - I loved all the 80s bands when I was growing up. Big Hair Rocks.
I am definitely a crafter - paper crafting, making cards, quilting, scrapbooking, cross stitching, learning to knit and crochet, latch hook, general crafting. I don't have the tools for wood crafts any longer. I am very open to learning new things. I am going to learn how to make flip books, ATCs and pocket letters. I just learned how to make corner bookmarks and love that.
Religion - prefer nothing religious - if you are a truly religious person and that is all the supplies you have, I will totally accept it, but prefer not to if at all possible.
Postcards - love them all - naked or in an envie - I am fine with both ways. Love the vintage or ones with an actor/actress on it or movie poster, book title, etc... Love horses and dogs on them (or any animal either). Trains make Tim happy, Captain America or Super Heroes makes Matt happy! Touristy is totally fine. Honestly, I am not picky about postcards - send what you have - no need to go hunt for the perfect one for me - I love what's written more than anything!
Teas - favorites are Rooibos, Chai, Herbal. Prefer no peach or matcha. Always willing to try new flavors.
I own a sweepstakes group on facebook - if you are interested in those, please let me know.
If you receive a letter/package from me with postage due, please send me a note, and give me a chance to respond before leaving negative feedback.
So happy to be a part of this group!
