Last update 2/3/2019
I should be all caught up with rating. If you have sent me something that didn't get rated, please let me know.
I hit "sent" when I drop the letter/package in "outgoing mail" slot in my building's mail box group. I am still trying to work out what time the mail comes, one day I saw the mail truck on my street at 11:00, the next day it was after 6:00. I don't know how that effects the postmark.
I have several 1's on my list that I am working on resolving. I have messaged all of the people who have left me 1's in an attempt to resolve them and hopefully bring them up to at lest 3's. I will keep this updated.
I'm a mother of two, a boy and a girl, and love every minute of it. I work full time as a mental health counselor for low income kids. I don't have much spare time on my hands, but when i do I love to make things. I love to bake, chocolate chip cookies are my specialty. I love to read, and cross stitch in my spare time. And I love getting things in the mail :)
Favorite color: Green, though, as mentioned below, I'm planing a wedding with the colors silver and purple (think like a deep royal purple like purple pansies) so those colors are nifty too.
I've got handwriting roughly on par with your doctor (without the pay check) so please don't be annoyed or upset if what I send is typed and not handwritten. You will appreciate it, I guarantee it.
With my move comes a new job. I am a mental health counselor who works with kids and teens (mostly girls), about half of which have substance use issues. My office is bleak, as I have to start decorating it from scratch (I left all my posters back at my old job site so my replacement wouldn't have to start from scratch). I've found that several of the postcards and note cards that I've had the pleasure of receiving are particularly suited for my office. If you have anything you think would decorate the office wall for a therapist, by all means send it my way! And if it's not therapeutic, that's ok too. I am very easy to please.
Books Anything by Terrie Pratchet, Loving the Sookie Stackhouse books (you know, True Blood?), Harry Potter, Vintage cookbooks, and too many more to list
TV Big fan of The Mentalist, In Plain Sight, Castle, Chuck, X-Files, Doctor Who, Warehouse 13, Breaking Bad, Criminal Minds, Bones, This is Us, Golden Girls, The Good Place, Great British Baking Show, and many others, and not necessarily on that order.
Cross stitching is really what I'm good at, but small fabric crafts I also do, like making fabric hair bows. recently I've been experimenting making household items (hot pads, place mats) and purses...though they're not 100% there yet. I also like to play around with paper. I dabble in scrapbooking and card making, and use a lot of collage and paper crafts at work. I enjoy making ATC's, though I am aware that my art style isn't everyone's cup of tea. I prefer to do simple hand drawings, or collage style cards. I don't do the mixed media-overly loaded-barely fit in a sleeve-practically 3D style that so many face. I enjoy receiving those cards, I just can't pull them off. So I do simple cards, because they make me happy.
I'm a typical chick flick girl. If its got a hot guy, a sweet story and a happy ending I'm all for it. Bonus points for it being cheesy or funny. But, my all time favorite movie is White Christmas. I know, I know, odd, but that's just what I love. I also like a good number of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies/TV shows. Just don't get me started on the changes that they're making in the comic books, especially to Captain America.
Rock/Alternative-Nothing super heavy, but I do enjoy a good beat. Pretty much your adult top 40 type of music, though, Country, especially songs that have a fun upbeat or tug at the heart strings. I've got a soft spot for '90's alternative, '40 and '50 jazz, and the funny rock of the 50's and 60's
My kids are A.J.-16 and Annabelle-12. A.J. likes vintage video games and all things tech, anime and manga, and currently doesn't know what he wants to do with his life, but really wants to move to Japan. Annabelle likes web based video games, art, anime, baking, and reading. If I'm in a "kids can too" type of swap, you'll be sending to/receiving from Annabelle. She especially likes to do pencil drawings or people and furry wolf-like animals, just as a heads up. She also spent four weeks in the "local" (only 4 hours from where we live) children's hospital in the Fall of 2018 due to a brain malformation called an AVM. This resulted in her needing brain surgery to remove the malformed blood vessels as well as having two different temporary drains put in called EVDs. She's doing great now, but it was rough going for a bit this October and November. I think I'm doing worse than she is with this whole thing. But, to her, it was a boring time in the hospital with food any time she wanted. For me it was an emergency call from her school that she was screaming in pain and not able to stand up on her own followed by a CT scan at the ER and a life flight to the hospital (only takes an hour to fly there). My son didn't handle it well and ended up spending a week in-patient at one of the local children's psychiatric units because of threats of suicide. He's still struggling to overcome that. But, I think I've got a couple of really tough kids. Life has thrown it's punches at us, but we keep getting back up.
I love fabric and would take anything that's at least the size of a CD. And buttons, plain, shaped, decorative, what ever, I'll take it. Paper, stickers, paper crafting stuff. Any colors and patterns too. I LOVE washi and glitter tape, in any thickness. I love seeing all the different patterns and styles that other people have in their collections. For postcards, I LOVE vintage cards and neat homemade cards, but will take anything (I like more typical tourist cards as well and love seeing where you live and different cities and countries). I am generally very easy to please.
I do not drink coffee, tea (aside from herbal teas without actual "tea" in them), or alcohol. Anything containing these will be a waste on me. I'm also allergic to dogs, so please take care not to get a lot of dog hair on things if possible (I understand that dog hair happens).
