A note about mailing/rating

Last update 8/2/17

Due to the level of humidity where I'm at, if you are going to be sending me a blank note card, please don't tuck it into the envelope, the glue tends to stick to the cards :(

I hit "sent" when I drop the letter/package in the blue box out front of the post office. I'm more comfortable with dropping the mail in the box than clipping it to the outside of my mailbox and waiting for the postman (though he does have an awesome beard) because when he's not running the typical rout there are issues. Because I live in a "small" (but not tiny) town, pick ups are once a day and pretty early, and the mail goes a ways from here before it gets postmarked and sent on its way. Just as a heads up.

I have two "1's" on my list. From a long time ago. I am trying to get back into swap-bot. One of the individuals I owe the swap to is no longer active on swap-bot, and I am waiting to hear back from the other.

About Me

I'm a mother of two, a boy and a girl, and love every minute of it. I work full time as a mental health counselor for low income kids. I don't have much spare time on my hands, but when i do I love to make things. I love to bake, chocolate chip cookies are my specialty. I love to read, and cross stitch in my spare time. I'm getting married summer of 2017. And I love getting things in the mail :)

Favorite color: Green, though, as mentioned below, I'm planing a wedding with the colors silver and purple (think like a deep royal purple like purple pansies) so those colors are nifty too.

I've got handwriting roughly on par with your doctor (without the pay check) so please don't be annoyed or upset if what I send is typed and not handwritten. You will appreciate it, I guarantee it.

Favorite Books

Anything by Terrie Pratchet, Loving the Sookie Stackhouse books (you know, True Blood?), Harry Potter, Vintage cookbooks, and too many more to list

Favorite Television

Big fan of The Mentalist, In Plain Sight, Castle, Chuck, X-Files, Doctor Who, Warehouse 13, Breaking Bad, Criminal Minds, Bones, This is Us, Golden Girls, and many others, and not necessarily on that order.

Favorite Crafts

Cross stitching is really what I'm good at, but small fabric crafts I also do, like making fabric hair bows. recently I've been experimenting making household items (hot pads, place mats) and purses...though they're not 100% there yet. I also like to play around with paper. I dabble in scrapbooking and card making, and use a lot of collage and paper crafts at work.

Favorite Movies

I'm a typical chick flick girl. If its got a hot guy, a sweet story and a happy ending I'm all for it. Bonus points for it being cheesy or funny. But, my all time favorite movie is White Christmas. I know, I know, odd, but that's just what I love. I also like a good number of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies/TV shows. Just don't get me started on the changes that they're making in the comic books, especially to Captain America.

Favorite Music

Rock/Alternative-Nothing super heavy, but I do enjoy a good beat. Pretty much your adult top 40 type of music, though, Country, especially songs that have a fun upbeat or tug at the heart strings. I've got a soft spot for '90's alternative, '40 and '50 jazz, and the funny rock of the 50's and 60's

Wedding and kids

I'm getting married! We're still nailing down a date (probably this winter), but I'd love to start collecting things for it. Our colors are purple and silver and the flowers that are going to be the main focus are pansies (which doesn't fit for winter, I know). I'm going to be making my own cake with my friend who used to do cake decorating, so anything related to that would be wonderful...if I join a swap like that. I'm sticking to mostly flat swaps at the moment for cost and ease.

My kids are A.J.-14 and Annabelle-10. A.J. likes vintage video games and all things tech, anime and manga, and currently thinks he wants to be a math teacher when he grows up. Annabelle likes web based video games, art, anime, and baking. If I'm in a "kids can too" type of swap, you'll be sending to/receiving from Annabelle. She especially likes to do pencil drawings or people and furry wolf-like animals, just as a heads up.

I love fabric and would take anything that's at least the size of a CD. And buttons, plain, shaped, decorative, what ever, I'll take it. Paper, stickers, paper crafting stuff. Any colors and patterns too. I LOVE washi and glitter tape, in any thickness. I love seeing all the different patterns and styles that other people have in their collections. For postcards, I LOVE vintage cards and neat homemade cards, but will take anything (I like more typical tourist cards as well and love seeing where you live and different cities and countries).

Please don't send

I do not drink coffee, tea (aside from herbal tease without actual "tea" in them), or alcohol. Anything containing these will be a waste on me. I'm also allergic to dogs, so please take care not to get a lot of dog hair on things if possible (I understand that dog hair happens)

Comment: Thanks so much for the fluffy rabbit ACT. He sure is fluffy. I too am sometimes invaded with rabbits . They are a bit of a plaque down here sometimes. elflady
Comment: I'm so sorry for the delay in rating. I found a bag of mail and your swap was in it. I didn't realize that Mayberry was an actual place. Is it anything like the TV show. You have 8 siblings. That must have been incredible growing up. How many bathrooms did you have?
Response: Mayberry, or Mt. Airy, NC, is not much like the show, though reminders of the town's illustrious native son are everywhere. It's a big tourist draw. There are two stores that were mentioned in the show that are actually real, so that's cool. I am not a fan of the big family. Being #3 meant that I was offten responsible for younger siblings. And when I was a teenager we had 3 bathrooms in the house, though we were not allowed to use my parents. I have always showered at night as a result.

Response: If I remember this postcard correctly, it was a table covered in moss with wood logs as chairs. I took the picture at Rocky Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia in the US. Is that what you were wanting to know? Unless I used a different picture...

Hi Kathi-ann,

How are you doing, my sister in Christ? I am currently typing this comment, at April 24, 2017, 12:26 AM, and listening to "Hear As In Heaven" sung by Elevation Worship. I love the first stanza honestly.. hihi

For the verse that I'd love to leave to you, the verse that appeared or popped up in my heart was about God being a Mighty Deliverer. The LORD is your Mighty Deliverer. Your deliverer from all worries and pain in this life.

In Psalm 18:2, we can read The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

In Psalm 144:2, My lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.

Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.

May Jesus Christ comfort you in your deepest troubles, and may you find the harmony and peace in which He has promised.

God bless ^^

Uplifting Scripture ♡

Hello, and thank you for joining my swap! This is one of my favorite scriptures, if I get scared before bed I just read this verse and I automatically feel better :)

Proverbs 3:24

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

May God bless you and your family ♡ Happy Swapping!
