Now enough of the bad swap talk~ Introducing myself, Lyss! I'm Portuguese & I sadly don't know much about my heritage as i was very small while my last Portuguese speaking family members were around. I just know they came to America from the Azores! The only connection ive been able to have was being born into a town in Rhode Island where the Portuguese culture still thrives in the food there :-) after my grandmother's recent passing, her wonderful cuisine laid to rest with her, it all feels so distant and i miss it dearly. If I by chance get partnered with somebody in Portugal, i would love to hear about it from you! ❤️
This is a safe space for anybody and everybody 🧚🏻♀️ Theres far too much hate, division, and judgement in the general universe. I live by the term of spreading love to all, and protecting the Earth that we live in ❤️ Im passionate about activism, it all started when i was a child and my dad frequently took me to animal shelters to volunteer and stand up for those who dont have a voice of their own 🐶🐱🐻🐰🦆🐋🐿🦨🐸 i fell in love with connecting to creatures of all kinds; going to audobons to learn about protecting the native owl species, going out through the sand and placing protective cages over turtle eggs so they safely hatch without harm, visiting butterfly sanctuaries, and planting trees locally. My father really impacted my appreciation for all kinds of wild-life beauty as he even taught me about the marine life and bug species! Long story short id love anything with critters on it :D
I'm a military wife of an active duty soldier and an avid traveler. after roadtripping the entire east coast this year and moving back and forth from New Hampshire to Florida, we just relocated kicking off the new year in the midwest! One of my favorite things to do is admire wildlife. When i was in Florida i loved to see the little geckos roaming around, spot dolphins or sea turtles in the water. I am so thrilled to be in armadillo territory now, i am kind of obsessed with them!
I love traveling and exploring local finds! I adore receiving things that feature your native language (newspaper clippings, cards, book pages) i collect them and also use them in crafts! local goodies have a special place in my heart and i love seeing what local businesses near you have to offer, whether its being gifted something in support of their business or simply recommending me a store you think i would like!
Ive always loved creating art; I paint often with both acrylic & watercolor!
I always love doing private swaps from different countries and items of their origin, never hesitate to reach out if you have any interest!

I like everything from pastel and neons to gothic/dark. I love earrings, necklace pendants, rings (although its hard sometimes finding something that fits a 6) or bracelets! I appreciate many themes including anything creepy cute or weird. just not pirate-y skull and crossbones, anime, or kiddish things. I DO NOT like kawaii things unless its tasteful.. does that sound bad? LOL I adore Pusheen or other cute/weird characters, but please stray away from sending the random unbranded kid ones/emoji/junk.
I join swaps because i enjoy the idea of each one. I always appreciate extras, but they aren't what makes a good swap! I get really sad when im really looking forward to a swap and it shows that extras were supposed to make up for lack of effort put into the original requirement :-(
Secondly, Please understand there are different religions besides your own and THAT IS OKAY. Please, be respectful. I would not send you incantations to Medusa because of my beliefs, i do not want to receive Christian prayers you think i need.. it comes off very unaccepting, judgemental and rude. Religion should not be projected onto others through swaps that have nothing to do with it!
🌷 Important about me 🌷
i am a self-proclaimed witch with an every-changing colored buzzcut 💙 Please do not think this affects anything! We are not evil, we are ordinary kind people here to live in peace. I am very respectful and celebratory of other's diversity and simply ask that you do not mis-judge me because my beliefs may be different from yours. I was raised in a house where my mother would always use her hoodoo + root worker knowledge for protection, this has made me adore doing hoodoo root work as well- one of my favorite things to do is make gris-gris bags, and there are so many wonderful herbs that are unheard of by many. Due to this i get.. bored.. with magickal things that are too simplistic (example: combining household herbs with a crystal like quartz)
anything with a poodle on it
the #1 thing i have a hard time finding (without travelling) is stickers with your native language on them or that reps your area! I use them to decorate my reusable water bottle, laptop, or papercrafts ~ I love seeing all different languages and cultures!
cute pocket journals / mini notebooks! Both blank, dotted or lined
cute address labels!!
anything furby, strawberry shortcake or shrinky dink related! I loved these growing up
washi! Almost all of my washi is in storage over 2000 miles away still. Sigh :-(
tea (flavors listed lower on profile)
themed papers and/or washi for scrapbooking and junk journaling
foreign ephemera! book pages, stickers, or newpaper clippings in your native language! I love collecting them and crafting with them!
handmade papercrafts; like cute little flip books, etc
cute lil animal amigurumis, i cant make them myself for the life of me!
Lip balm from your country
local or handmade jewelry! I adore pendants, necklaces, earrings, rings size 6
drawings or paintings
anything with any of my ABCs of likes on them
i am not offended by darker or otherwise weird themed items or art, i enjoy it just as much! Halloween things are loved all year round, too :-)

For any swaps regarding teas, chocolates etc. i decided to add this in! I am not too picky and like trying new things :-) and i LOVE honey of all flavors! any time i travel, i make sure to stop at a local shop to grab some of the local honey. My favs I've "collected" are blueberry honey from Maine, raspberry honey from Connecticut, and a jar of honey from Germany & Texas from fellow SB members!
flavored cold tea, dessert tea, hot tea, nutty flavors, hazelnut, pistachio, almond, mint, lavender, chocolate, blueberry, strawberry, jasmine, herbal teas that arent earthy/grassy, anything unusual or specific to your area or culture
chamomile, unflavored green tea (i prefer flavored black tea flavored green tea or white tea!), peach, mango, blackberry or mixed berry flavors, non-flavored tea such as breakfast tea and white chocolate
When it comes to incense, perfume roll-ons or sprays i dont enjoy anything powdery floral! i like a more crisp fresh floral, like the true scent of a flowers petals. For example i LOVE a true gardenia scent! But dislike a powdery rose smell
my absolute favorite scent is styrax benzoin, it is quite hard to find where i am :(
patchouli is tricky, i find i love some but noticed darker patchouli just smells like wet dirt and moss to me.. eek!
Other likes: nag champa, vanilla, sweet+smokey scents or sweet+spicy scents, fruity+sensual scents
Other Dislikes: ylang ylang, citrus scents like mandarin orange or grapefruit, honeydew melon, mossy scents
