I am a Canadian girl who is into skiing & dancing, currently living in Calgary AB, but originally from Vancouver. I'm married to a man who is incredibly kind & makes me laugh - a lot. Good food makes me happy - especially when it's made from scratch.
A quick side-note: Mail delivery to my home is VERY slow. Please don't worry if I haven't rated: It means it hasn't arrived yet. (I think there's a time-warp somwhere near the Canadian / US border that makes packages / letters take forever to get to me) Slow delivery to my place is normal. I just hope the packages I send out go a lot faster.
I love crafts. I'm best at beading (I do a lot of bead-weaving), but appreciate everything - from crochet, knitting, sewing, quilting - you name it. I've also done a lot of soap-making, but my current living space isn't great for it - there's no way to protect my cat & dog from getting into the lye, and it's not a risk I'm willing to take.
I don't scrapbook. Not even a little bit. Please don't send me scrapbook supplies as I don't understand them, and they will promptly be tossed into the recycling. Save them for somebody who does scrapbook, as I'm sure they are lovely supplies... I have absolutely no understanding of them, and would be uncomfortable 'passing them forward' as I don't know what's crap or not.
I love vintage / antique funky looks. everything from 1920's art deco to the flare of the 30s & 40s. .
I love colour, (blues especially) and appreciate the skills it takes to make things.
I also love traditional Asian / Indian prints (think dragons, traditional japanese embroidery, anything you might find on a kimono)
I'll ask no christian items, unless they are funny / ironic. Also, not madly in love with the 'hello-kitty' over the top cute stuff either.
I'm allergic to most fragrances, so I'll ask that I get nothing perfumed, scented etc. This includes anything that is 'perfumed' like tobacco. I'm very sensitive to it & it makes me quite ill.
From an environmental point of view, I avoid plastic wherever possible. I'm also not interested in little scraps of paper. There's more than enough paper in my life - I don't need any more.
I'm an avid reader - I love the Outlander series, Harry Potter, anything by Tamora Pierce, A Christmas Carol... I'm quite fond of 'Kids Lit' - provided it's well written.
My musical tastes are pretty random - everything from The Who to Bach to Nine Inch Nails. I like blues & Hip Hop... pretty much the only thing that I'm not keen on is anything swimming in obscenities. I'd rather things were more subtle. ('lil Kim - not so keen on. 'Big, Ten Inch Record' - very cool)
I have quite small wrists - about 6 1/4 - 6 1/2 inch wrists for bracelets.
I don't wear earrings. I've had them pierced a couple of times, and they just consistently got infected, so I've let them close over. I spend a lot of time on the phone at work, and I find clip-ons bothersome.
Necklaces - any length - I particularly like necklaces I can wear over a black turtleneck.
For metals, I prefer copper or brass toned items... possibly silver. Bright gold doesn't really appeal to me.
Funky socks, pencils, pens, good quality beads, different types of lip balm, cool photographs, Postcards (even if they're within a package - I love seeing pictures of other places)
I try to use cool stamps when I'm sending a package - it's the only decoration on the outside of what I send. Getting anything with neat stamps from other places makes me really happy.

Thank you so much for being my angel for the International Big Fat Stuffed Envelope swap! I was very pleasantly surprised to see a nice, big envelope when I got home from work today. I love everything, especially the tea! I've already enjoyed a cup :-) Thank you so much! I am adding you to my list of angels on profile!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi! I unarchived the not quite normal Penpals and it looks like I sent on the 4th of Sept... so that's almost 5 weeks ago! I'm thinking it's lost, because 5 weeks is excessively slow even for international swaps. I'll resend, thanks for PMing me and letting me know!
Thank you so much for volunteering to angel The Big Fat Stuffed Envelope Swap #5. So awesome.
Hey! I just got the bracelet in the mail and it is soooooo awesome!!! thank you so much!! I love it and I can't believe you made that!! How neat!
I just got your message. The sentiment was beautiful and "right on time." I've been going through a bit of turmoil lately (review the "bulletin" I left on my blog this morning) and kind words and good feelings are exactly what I need right now. I think what has aided in my peace of mind, besides the obvious of being able to cling to family, friends and what I believe in, is being able to find a little escape with my crafts.
I believe people encounter your life for reasons - whether it is because you need to "help" them or they need to "help" you, no one really knows until it's all said and done, but nevertheless for a reason.
Thank you for encountering my life and for the helpful sentiment ... it has already made my life, today, a bit brighter.
Since you are in Canada and I am in the state, it is not literally possible for us to scrap together, but perhaps once I get myself and my world a little settled, maybe we can do some private swapping.
Oh, I plan - again, once I can focus in that direction - to upload a YouTube Video or two, so we may be able to share that way too.
Have a wonderful day.
Thanks again.
