I JUST WANTED TO APOLOGIZE FOR ANY LATE SENDS IN JUNE. WE HAD A FAMILY EMERGENCY THAT AFFECTED ME A LOT AND I AM NOW GETTING BACK INTO SWAPPING. I WILL TRY MY HARDEST TO MAKE IT UP TO EVERYONE I SENT TO LATE/RATED LATE. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING DURING THIS HARD TIME
If you are sending me anything from the UK, I will love you forever and every and ever if you put one (or more!) of the Doctor Who stamps on them! Seriously. If we're doing a craft swap and it's like four dollars in postage, and you put four dollars worth of The Doctor I would just about die of happiness.
Note: Kristina Strange is not my real name. Well, it's half my real name. I don't like to put mine or my son's real names on the internet, so I hope that clears up any confusion when it comes to long-term penpals getting mail from my real name after a while!
I'm a twenty eight (okay fine, thirty one, just don't tell anyone) year old single mother and my seven year old son Malikhai (Khai for short) is my absolute best friend. We prank each other and have heart to hearts and he's probably the coolest person I know, and I'm not even being that biased. ;)
I have some of the best friends a girl could ever ask for, and I have a secure receptionist job that I enjoy with coworkers and patients that I adore. I have a (disgusting) pug who's a rescue, and I foster other dogs from the rescue from time to time. I'm definitely a homebody.
I love tattoos, I have a few and am hoping to get a few more. I love reading, and am really into dystopian fiction, and anything apocalyptic or from the zombie virus genre. Or all three. I listen to a lot of music, but my favourites are from the early to mid 90s. I love musical theatre and try to go to musicals often. I enjoy most pop-culture geek. You'll never (ever!) find me in front of a computer playing WOW or in a basement playing Magic or Dungeons and Dragons, but you'll find me in line to meet my celebrities at Toronto or Ottawa Comic Con, you'll find graphic novels on my bookshelves (and framed in my guest bathroom) and you'll find Dalek and Tardis salt and pepper shakers in my kitchen. My favourite antisocial thing to do is either curl up with a book or curl up on the couch and marathon watch the sh!t out a show. My most recently marathonned shows are Doctor Who and Sherlock.
I'm a definite Hippie/free spirit. I'm a very quirky person, sometimes bordering on 'weird.' (But just bordering, I don't collect dolls or cats or neighbourhood children or anything.) I'd much rather be weird and interesting than normal and boring! I love to laugh, and tend to find humour in even the darkest of times. I can be sarcastic at times and have a total "guy" sense of humour. I enjoy Internet Memes. I love a bad pun. Or a dirty limerick.
Omg. Where do I even begin. Doctor Who, Sherlock (BBC), Torchwood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse, Angel, Supernatural, True Blood, Gilmore Girls, Chuck, The Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, etc etc.
I love sewing kitchy items out of felt, but enjoy crafting out of pretty much everything. I am definitely more crafty than artsy. I might not make you the most flawless pieces, but I will put a lot of effort into them and they will be adorable, I assure you!
I've participated in some pretty awesome Whedon-themed ornament swaps over the years courtesy of Buffyfest.com, which actually inspired me to look for similar places to swap goodies throughout the year. I love the fun and thought of preparing a craft/package for someone with care and the child-like excitement and thrill of checking the mail and finding snail-mail! Letters, post cards, crafts, and surprise gifts! Looking forward to starting and participating in some fun swaps with some fun people!
I've noticed a lot of people put lists of things they really like/would get superexcited about receiving, so here's mine. Its important to note that I would and will appreciate anything sent to me:) however, here is a list of my favourite things which will make me superexcited to receive:
Address Labels - esp with pugs, Doctor Who on them!
Anything old-school geek - PacMan, Atari, Gameboy, Sonic, Mario, Tetris, etc
Absolutely anything related to any of my (many!) Fandoms (especially Doctor Who and anything Whedon!)
Post-its, pens, notepads, notecards, notebooks, address books, erasers, pencils, pencil sharpeners - can you tell I work in an office? ;)
Socks, legwarmers, scarves (either winter scarves or spring/summer ones,) mittens, winter hats
Change purses, wallets, lunch sacks,
Sewing related items- pin cushions, interesting buttons, zippers, fabric scraps
Lip balms, nail polishes, nailfiles, lotions, Fun sanitizers
Kitchy jewelry, wooden jewelry, fun beads, magnets, pins and patches (I have a bag that I have a pretty awesome pin/badge collection on!)
Random things I love: skulls, anchors, monsters (the cuter the better,) pin-up art, zombies, vintage tattoos, gas masks, cupcakes, unicorns, lip balm, camouflage, cute owls, hand lotion, rings, earrings, koi fish, pugs, newsprint, wooden jewelry, African masks, polka dots, tea, hot chocolate, the colours orange and blue together, mustard yellow, purple, Union Jacks or anything else very British, skateboarding, bananas, space-themed anything, pirates, polkadots, dinosaurs, robots, vintage birds, vintage anything, sugar skulls, bookmarks, notebooks, salt and pepper shakers, candles, clocks, anything I can frame
Things My Boy Loves: Anything multicultural, biracial hair products, Star Wars, Angry Birds, Doctor Who (my little Whovian!), Big Bang Theory, Skateboarding (He rocks a lot of DC, Quiksilver, etc), old school hip hop, etc. Pretty much anything I get that could potentially go to him, will. So if you are at a loss and not sure what to swap with me, send me something an almost seven year old would like and I'll love it! :D
Please do not send anything Bible-related. Please no verses, etc. We are spiritual, not religious, and have a non-organized religion household and do not want to disrespect anybody's beliefs or hard work by discarding religious items.
I am always up for a private swap- letters, postcards, crafts, or anything else! Msg me and we can work something out! :)
