Updated 3/23/2024 Hi! Love watching SFand Mystery series streaming on all the major streaming services. Favorites are Will Trent and Tracker. Looking forward to new Doctor Who on Disney + this May. My name is Donna, aka stlouisphile Original Member #1216 -- It's the only profile I've had on swap-bot. Yes my name is really Donna (Doctor Who Fans will know the reference)
I prefer to swap with adults. If you would like to send an "extra" that your child did, that's terrific, but children in adult swaps is not something I condone. If you have school aged children who would like to swap with my 7 year old grandson ATC cards contact me. He is quite talented. I enjoy reading, creating collages, creating ATC's, found art, b&w photography, and knitting. I hope to start taking photos with my film camera real soon now and get back into the dark room. I can't tell you how rewarding it is to shoot film, develop the film yourself, wait for the film to dry and then pick something you want to crop and develop. Nothing compares. Seriously!
Photoshop is my go to program for creating digital ATCs and Communication Arts, Art Forum and other Art in America for collage. I believe I have a twenty year supply of periodicals!
You might have noticed that I am a bit of a Whovian. But don't let that scare you. I like other stuff too. Seriously.
Really. Anyway I am into all kinds of nerdy and not so nerdy things. Read on!!
I hold a master's degree in education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology/Online Learning. In 2016, this is when everything changes as I am retiring and am looking for a new career.
I enjoy creating faux postage, mail art, naked mail shenanigans and altering tins.
Are you a Whovian? Then transport yourself over to the Doctor Who Fans Group if you'd like to join a rather fine group of Whovians. Allons-y or if you prefer, Geronimo!
@brunettemusings for Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS and may be a flaker.
My tastes in movies tend toward science fiction, action and drama. The only movies I don't really care for is horror/slasher movies.
Doctor Who (the longest running television series ever -- Initial broadcast Saturday 11/23/1963. It only took 46 years for me to have my favorite doctor, although I started watching the Fourth Doctor in the 80s.
Knitting Foreign stamps
I started knitting in 2013 because (you guessed it) I wanted to knit myself the 4th Doctor's scarf. The scarf is now finished! It is awesome sauce! It's extremely long and wonderfully warm. I am also a youtube craft junky. I have way too many subscriptions on youtube. And just now started watching youtube via Fire HDTV.
My favorite colors are navy blue, robin's egg blue, orange, and copper
A lovely cuppa dark chocolate with a shot of espresso My Kindle HD Fires --4 Kindles. how that happen? Raunchy or adventurous fan fiction.a Holiday cards
I hardly ever participate in "package" swaps but if you're in the mood I wouldn't mind: Stitch markers for knitting, fancy or plain
Doctor Who Royal Mail stamps,
TARDIS items.
Big Shot type cutouts: trees, stars, moons, houses.
White gel pens
German scrap
Stitch markers (handmade or store bought)
Malabrigio yarn
Tea, Dark Chocolate
My medium of choice for ATC cards are collage or digital. I always print on Bristol Paper or watercolor paper. I also like to use embellishments and rubber stamps too in my art, and now I am pulling backgrounds from my DIY gelli plate. I will also use watercolor paper or mat board when I create collages or ATC cards. Almost all of my cards are mounted on mat board - its part of my signature :)
My collage images come from back issuers of Communication Arts, Print and Art Forum, to name a few. Check out their websites by following the links.
One thing that really got me to get back into creating art was the old site, nervousness.org. This site was the precursor to swap-bot. It was all about trading LMAO (land mail art objects: ATC's, altered CD's, things that shouldn't be mailed, found art, etc. You can check out what's left of nervousness over on archive.org. Collage and installation artists. I love the art of Andy Warhol, Picasso, impressionist painters, the cubist painters.
I love Joseph Cornell and his assemblage boxes. In fact I just may have to make one for my sonic screwdrivers... Pop Artists old and new...I'm going thru a phase now in which I'm painting Pop Art Daleks on canvas...
You don't rate on any of the swaps I host you will not be allowed in my groups, you will be reported in FOPS.
I also support and recommend the Newbie Helpers group, to help those members new and not so new to get advice and tips on navigating this site. I will ask politely for a rating, if you haven't received something from me I will gladly resend but c'mon, rate when you receive. OK? Thank you!!
My wishlist is to have a system on swap-bot that also keeps track of rating swaps. It would go right next to your Stars (which now is taken up by the Hosted Swaps so there goes that idea. But I still want to believe!
I will rate a 3 (no matter how awesome your item is) if your swap is LATE with no prior email from you.
It bothers me that I will have to give a "3" but it's only fair. If I am late and I haven't given you prior warning I too expect a "3".
And finally. Doctor Who Is A Serious SF Drama: >
