Ok, here we go again. This is the third time that I am going to make an attempt at a decent profile. After posting the last one and reviewing some of the others I realize my own was somewhat lacking. They say that the easiest conversation one should have is about themselves, because why not what do we know the best about? Lets just start with the basics. I am a member of the forties club heading to the fifties club quicker than I want to. I have a wonderful husband of almost fourteen years now. He is some years older than I, so we have an extended family that includes three stepchildren, and two more of ours. The steps are older and have families of their own and the two of ours are teenagers now. We live in the mountains of North Carolina with a small piece of dirt that we enjoy gardening.
Now on to some of the fun stuff. My house truely consists of another mans junk is now my treasures. My hubby works for the local trash company driving a truck. A very good friend of our works for the local transfer station (aka "The Dump"). You would be amazed at what people throw away. You would probably also be amazed at how much of it you yourself would deem "cool". I myself just love it if it makes me smile. Its almost like Christmas at least three times a week.
Things that make me smile: the color yellow, paperweights, funny knick knacks, books (all kinds), jars (all sizes and shapes), the small items that fit in those jars (buttons, game pieces, beads, etc.), patches (the sew on kind), candles, jewelry ( the bolder the better), art supplies (although not sure am very good at using them), nesting dolls, tutles, yard decorations, metal signs, Betty Boop, Kermit the frog (after all its not easy being green). This was just a few that I can think of by just standing around the house. I also really like pictures, all kinds: old, new, painted, printed, crafted, on and on...... After thoughts, I also like wrist watches of all kinds and anything Disney. One can never go wrong with a cool coffe cup either. Adding tins now..just realized I have a huge collection and have them everywhere.
I consider myself very easy to please. I love getting mail and love it someone just takes the time and effort to think of me. "Warm Fuzzies". I hope this helps some of my partners in the future. I intend to add some pics of my fun stuff soon.
I am realizing that this is my favorite kind to do. I am really loving all of them that I am getting. A few notes though.....I don't mind the add cards if they have some graphics (nothing with just words please) and only 1 per package. Am also not against cards or pics that could be PC's, but again only 1 per package. I really do not any kind of wish list for these. Most of the cards have been great. I like bright colors, landscapes, animals, cartoons, art, funny, authentic to your area, etc.... I am very easy to please, I just love the mail and the thoughts that a card was picked with me in mind. 5/19/2014 I am adding a little note. I think I would prefer the postcards in an envelop unwritten and unstamped. My daughter likes the stamps and I like the postcards. So doing it this way pleases us both. 9/12/2014 Update on postcards. I have been swapping for almost a year now and have decided on the PC's I want to collect for myself....Map cards, any cards with a recipe, legend, or story on it, cut out letter cards, and odd shaped cards. Am going to add examples of these to my profile.
It makes me sad that I sign up for my swaps with excitement and spend time with my partner in mind and they don't give me a courtesy of a rating or note that it's been received. I rate immediately and only mark sent when get home from the post office. If you don't receive from me, please let me know. Also if you are late shipping, just PM me. I really do understand life. List of swappers who never rated. 1. artytart1919 and jeremy16 for Yay, Christmas! Card Swap.
As you may know by a previous section I have two daughters, 18 and 13. They are enjoying this swapping as much as I am. My oldest (Destiny) loves to read and so she loves cool and intriguing bookmarks from all over. My thirteen year old (Sara) loves tea bags of all kinds. She has a box FULL. She also enjoys all the different stamps.
I really hate to do this, but after two years of being a member I suddenly have an outbreak of people who won't rate. It's frustrating. So I I am just adding a list of swaps that never got rated. This way I have a record and can move on......
