About Me

It's nice to meet you! I'm Tess, I'm in my 40s, no children. I have one elderly grey tabby cat. I love animals, but my cat just lost her sister and we're not ready for any new additions yet.

Pen-palling has been a hobby of mine for a few years. I have been on Postcrossing for a few years, as well as LEX, LWA, and Sendsomething.net. I PROMISE to always rate and I PROMISE to never flake! I have been pen palling for a long time. If you do not receive a rating or a swap you are expecting from me, please let me know immediately!

Please expect that swaps from me will contain more writing and not much in the way of drawings, stickers, colorings, and such. I hope my swaps are creative and enjoyable, but I am not well-practiced in paper crafts or visual arts.

Special request: Please do not send anything which has been perfumed. Like many folks, I am sensitive to smells and possibly allergic to some. Thank you.

Faves for Swaps:

Colors: Blue, Gray, Black, White.

Themes: Science, Geeky, Library/Books, Writing, Letters, Postcards, Geography, Historical, Nerdy, Vintage, Retro.

Collections: None, except postcards and letters of all kinds. I'm rather a minimalist.

Tea: Black, Green, White, Ginger, Licorice, but not fruity or citrus.

Treats: Not big on candy or chocolate.

Allergies: None.

Religion: I don't really care for religious-themed cards, etc. unless it is of Eastern Orthodox or Byzantine style. I am Eastern Orthodox Christian (not to be confused with Jewish). However, I am not a zealot or a fundamentalist.

Thanks for reading my profile! Snail mail is one of the most inclusive, civilized, and creative hobbies out there and I'm always glad to meet new enthusiasts.

Comment: Thank you so much for your letter - it was interesting to read! I love mutt dogs as well, and am also against circus animals. There are a lot of Subways here in Sweden as well. I was really excited about the HP stamps too so thanks for using those! :)
Response: Thank you for the rating! I tried to send you a tea bag, but the post office took it out! Did you see where they opened the envelope and taped it again? That made me upset and I am sorry about that!

Comment: Thanks for the card and the note
Comment: Jess. First of all I wanna deeply thank you for for the envelope, I wasn't expecting the chocs!! Now for the journal, what can I say. I just finished reading and I'm kind of emotional. In a very good way, of course. I really feel like yoh poured your heart and soul into it and I got to know you. I didn't find a single entry boring or 'dribble' at all. I'm so very happy you got to experience seeing your favorite band live in concert! reading all about it reminded me of when I saw Eminem back in 2014, so I get exactly what you mean when you told me how a-ha made you feel when they walked onto the stage. I'm so very thankful you took part in this swap and I got to read about your life, and the life of dead Rosemary. She sounds like an extraordinary person. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You're an amazing person and I hope I get to swap with you again. This by far is my all time favorite swap I've received, my heart is so happy right now. Xoxoxox
Response: Gee, you're embarrassing me! Thank you so much for your kind response and rating! I hope the chocolates did not melt in your heat wave...I didn't think about that until the package was already mailed off. It is always nice to connect with people, "strangers", in different parts of the world...it reminds us that we're all just human, with similar dreams, aspirations, and emotions. Thanks again for your kind words. This swap was fun and meaningful to me as well. Perhaps we can stay in touch or swap again. Peace and blessings to you! -Tess
