I ran across a girl, Suzi blu, on Youtube who introduced my daughter and I to Art Journaling about 17 years ago. My first journal is hysterical but I have improved...a little...Early on, my daughter found out she didn't enjoy that hobby so she left me to learn on my own...I dabbled a little over the years, but really got steady with it in 2017...I do most of my learning by watching other truly amazing artistic people on YouTube....that's where I spend most of my time. My interests vary in different kinds of things one might put in a journal, trying my hand at all sorts of ideas...like one thing I started was learning how to draw faces, whimsical faces...I ran across Dina Wakely who says if you will do a hundred faces...you will be successful...so I have done many faces so far....some of those I like....and she's right...I feel comfortable with it but still need the practice....I like Art Marks....just random marks on a page or two using mixed media together...stamps, stencils, acrylics, watercolor, pan pastels, inks, distress inks and oxides, markers, etc...I also love making pocket letters and single ATC cards....My neighbor works in oils...tried that but found out I don't like oils...so I don't work with that media....I love collage and started getting ephemera kits from Etsy and collaging, along with my own scraps and leftovers, in a very large 12 x 14 book....that's an occasional journal, not every day....I just love Art....I am not a natural artist....I do have to work hard at it....I usually call myself the copycat artist but hopefully one day I will find my style....My kiddos are grown and off on their own adventures, so I have plenty of time for "arting"...papercrafting is my new time consumer as of late....like I mentioned before....ATCs,flipbooks, pocket letters and zines....so much fun to put together....
***One of my favorite things and one of the reasons I joined SB is because I SO ENJOY😃 seeing other people's art and what YOU come up with....I taught 1st grade before marriage/kids and art was my fav time with the kiddos and I still have several of the kids' pieces from my time in the classroom and I cherish them....so I can continue this hobby here and join the FUN!!😂🤣👏🤪! I have two art "boards" that display all the ATCs, pocket letters, zines, etc that I have received over this last year and love looking at it everyday...so proud of everyone's uniqueness and that I have a copy of someone's imagination!....love SB!
We have 2 cats and 2 dogs....
I love to read....not any one genre...just depends on my mood and the book except no gore/horror...
my two favorite books on my coffee table: "the life-changing magic of tidying up" by marie kondo and "the joy of leaving your sh*t all over the place" by jennifer mccartney...hmmmm...dilemma😳
would love to be a pen and ink wash drawing artist
I thought about selling my house and living in a van (van life)....once...
I would like to live in Europe for a spell...maybe in a van there..update... 3-9-23-this was the day I came back from living in Switzerland for the last 5.5 months....it was amazing!!...but not in a van!😜
I was born and raised in Texas and I hate being hot but my favorite time of the year is summer because of how long the sun stays out....plus I love the lake and water skiing....
I lived in Holland for 3 years (70s) when I was 10-12 yrs old.... got to look around western Europe just a little bit while we were there....I liked Paris because of the crepe carts....oh so yummy!....But my favorite place was the south side of France.....I remember it seemed so pretty and peaceful than any of the other places we visited.....I have always wanted to go back and experience it again.... one day maybe....but I also want to go back and see our home there in Voorschoten...I have found it on that Life360 app, so I can go and look at it whenever I want...pretty cool!!
I have lived in Colorado for 4 years, my university days (CSU) and also in Kentucky, for 4 years as well....both places are beautiful and unique in their own ways....
Craft "parts" I like...
...I like "Shabby Chic"
...I like "grundge"
...I like coffee/tea dyed/stained paper/scraps
