Passionate creative-type; professional nomad; imagination junkie.
I'm a crafty sort....creative to the core. Everything I do and am passionate about ties back to that fact.
I have a blog that focuses on living a positive, creative, and adventuresome life.
I'm a dark haired, green eyed, artist with a playful spirit.I tend to be a bit reserved, even shy at first but I warm up pretty quickly once I get comfortable with someone.
I'm like a 6 year old kitty princess trapped in the body of a bodaciously curvy woman that Ruben himself would have blushed to paint. I am quiet and clever, introspective and reserved, intelligent and thoughtful. I'm also talented and introspective, playful and silly, passionate and wistful, positive-minded and mischievous. You have been warned. =^.^=
Colors: My favorites are earth tones and Autumn hues. Especially rusts, burgandy/wine, browns, greens, and I also like black a lot.
My style has been described to me as "Tribalpunk pirate, gothic hippie, gypsy steampunk, pin up fusion" All rolled into one. I'm eclectic, you could say...
Checking out my pinterest is a good way to get a handle on my tastes and style. But here is a pretty comprehensive list:
Wishlist:
Tidbits and found objects (shiny things, buttons, broken costume jewelry, miniatures, charms, pendents, puzzle pieces, game tiles, etc)
I have a button collection. Well two, I guess. I collect sew on type buttons....and I collect pin on sayings and pictures type buttons.
I'm arguably obsessed with owls. Here is a pinterest board to some of my owly loves.
Art
Journals, smashbooks and stationary.
Smash/journal pages. I keep a magpie book I call "Gypsy's brain book" It's a mini 3-ring binder filled with my clippings, quotes, notes, events, plans, goals, and journal pages. I'd love to have some pages to write on and stash stuff that were smashed by someone else. About the size of half a sheet of U.S. Letter paper.
Books
Fortune cookie fortunes, doodles, color swatches, pallet pages, quote clippings, world proverbs, strange newspaper headlines, old maps and other interesting paper bits.
Craft Supplies (Embroidery floss, hoops, transfers, feathers, jewelry findings, hair accessory mounts, scrap-booking embellishments, papers, etc)
Handmade cards/postcards
Handmade items (dolls, amigurumis, jewelry, accessories, scarves/hats, diaramas, frames, embroidery, needlepoint, decor, anything etc.)
Tea and unique tea cups/sets
Kuchi jewelry pieces
Handwritten letters
Boardgames, dice, roleplaying manuals, etc
Smart, geeky things.
I mentioned Owls, right?
It's best if you don't send:
I don't really care for:
Things that are pink or extremely girly
Lots of glitter
Pastel color hues
Redneck, dixieland, NRA, bible belt, or country related items
But also worth noting...if you do send something I don't really care for I'm not going to take the bullet train to crazy town and rate you poorly or get upset. I don't really understand that. But I might pass it along in another swap to someone that might like it better. It's all about fun, folks. If you're not having fun...you're doing it wrong. (/end soap box)
Embroidery/needlepoint
Art Journals
Jewelry making
Stamping and paper crafts
Hair decor
Restyling clothes
Upcycling items for wear or decor
Mixed media collage
Homemade skincare
I love to read...happiness may well be curling up with a good book and a hot cup of delicious tea.
Perhaps my (most) favorite fiction genre is contemporary/urban fantasy and horror. I like stories about shape shifters, werewolves, unique approaches to known fairy tales, and strong character building.
I also like craft books filled with inspiration and techniques. I have a collection of mixed media themed art books that I love thumbing through.
Books with artistic/creative lifestyle inspiration and encouragement gets poured over hungrily any time I can get my hands on that style of reading.
I like creative non-fiction about people living positive lives by means of their perspective or ideals.
Books about blogging, digital imaging, embroidery, art journals, mixed media collage, behavioral science, circus arts, and other related interests.
Check out my Goodreads link.
I like industrial/EBM, Mid-century jazz/blues, electroworld, and electroswing best of all...but there aren't many genre's of music where I won't find something I can enjoy. If I can dance to it or connect with it, I'll jive to it.
Like my music and my tv, I have a love for movies that's stuck in the 40's and 50's. I can't get enough of old movies.
Some modern loves: Gypsy 83, 100 girls, Up, Looper, Suckerpunch, Perfume, Repo the Genetic Opera, Practical Magic, The Labyrinth, Princess Bride (but I want to strangle Buttercup with her own entrails.), My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, The Crow, Empire Records.
And of course I love movies that surprise you with a "real" ending...and break from the "happily ever after" if it fits the story.
I love old television: I Love Lucy, The Addams Family (1964), The Munsters, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie.
Joss Whedon and all of his work; Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, Dr Horrible's Sing-along Blog.
Character driven shows often with a fantasy/occult theme: Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, Being Human (UK), etc.
Smart Comedies: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory
