"Fill your life with experiences, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show."
Hi swappers, my name is Annie. I am a current medical assistant in my late twenties navigating the winding roads of life. I am pursuing education in clinical social work, hoping to work in healthcare for the general public. I have been writing my whole life and integrate it into almost everything I do. I enjoy reading and writing poetry (though I have come across a giant writer's block in this aspect), paper crafting/ card-making, and planning. In my free time, I can be found volunteering at the soup kitchen or wandering the aisles of Michael's craft stores. In recent years, I have been striving towards a minimalist mindset and waste-reducing lifestyle. I have become much more conscious of my carbon footprint and enjoy looking for ways to implement eco-friendly practices and habits into daily life. Thus, I am an impassioned advocate for the well-being of this beautiful earth we exist upon. I love exploring the world and am grateful for the opportunities to do so. I plan on being able to visit as many places as possible within my means. I love telling and receiving jokes, and I sincerely believe laughter is healing for the soul.
I am a stationery fan. I cannot walk past Target's dollar spot without browsing the many stationery knick knacks they so dangerously offer. I like floral or fruity fragrances. My idea of self care comes in the form of face masks at the end of a long day.
I enjoy learning tidbits about history and going to all kinds of museums. Harriet Tubman and Clara Barton are two of my biggest historical inspirations. The Civil War, WWII and Victorian Era fascinates me. I often fantasize about living in cottage houses or countryside towns.
I love nature. Anything from trees to flowers to wildlife. Rivers, streams, waterfalls, and lakes are sceneries that captivate and soothe me.
I am changing my life to reflect a more minimalistic mindset and eco-friendly existence. I am doing my best to be progressively more eco-conscious and kind to our planet. I have grown increasingly fond of the art of recycling, reducing, and reusing. I have a tendency to save my scrap paper and "upcycle" them into my paper crafting. I am constantly looking for ways to upcycle unused supplies and resources. I always remind myself to consume less and use what I already have. Recycling and reducing waste has become a tremendous influential factor on my way of life. At work, I am known to most as "the environmentalist." I am lucky that the people I work with support my advocacy for a greener environment. I am very fortunate to live in an area where access to filtered water is within reach, so I am protective of this natural resource on many levels. Thus, I adore anything that has to do with helping Mother Earth maintain its well-being. I appreciate reusables and zero waste items.
What I like eating: Tacos, burritos, mangoneadas, chips and fresh salsa, Japanese snacks, corn puffs, three cheese pizza rolls, tomato soup.
Other random interests: learning new languages, taking hikes, tacos and micheladas, trying new cuisines, skincare related things, Rilakkumma.
I do not have a religion, so kindly refrain from sending related items. I respect other religions/ beliefs and ask the same in return.
A sample medley of my musical taste:
Underground artists: Jazz Liberatorz, Slum Village, Blue Scholars, Common, Jedi Mind Tricks, Zion I, Pete Rock, CL Smooth, Talib Kweli, J Dilla, DJ Okawari
Social experiment shows such as What Would You Do?
Ellen DeGeneres, Dr, Phil, The Voice
