About Me

Sedentary type (because I am large sized!), who is a TV addict and avid reader. I love writing, internet, movies. Love writing letters. Have kept a daily blog since 2000, with mirror entries on Blogspot since 2007.

Raised 5 children and have two granddaughters, born in 2008 and 2011. I sponsor several children around the world with Compassion International

Live with husband of 52 years (as of 6/17) and an obnoxious Chihuahua who has, over the last 8 years or so managed to train us very well.

Walt saved for travel in our retirement and we have traveled a bit in the last few years. England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Russia, China, Istanbul, a cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, and Ukraine--good thing we went when we did because it may be awhile before that becomes a tourist destination again! I spent six wonderful weeks in Australia in 2003. I will never make my dream trip, now -- a photo safari in Africa. My body couldn't handle it any more.

Love seeing new places and meeting new people! I am pro-choice and support Marriage Equality, but have a good friend who is vehemently opposed to both and we are still friends, so I am polite to those with whom I disagree. Just don't try to convert me...and I won't try to convert you.

Did you not receive my swap?

A beautiful comment borrowed from ( Kvwanderlost ) , which I am adding after a particularly nasty comment I received:

I am in Swap-Bot to have fun as I believe the majority of all you wonderful nice people are! So please don't write to me with attitude if I missed something or forgot something or overlooked something. I am very happy to make something up to you if I messed up but could you please be nice about it? Also if you didn't receive my swap could you please send me a message first instead of throwing out a 1? I always send my swaps and if you didn't receive it most likely it has been lost by the post office and I will always send a replacement if you will just let me know. Just send me a nice private message and it's done! Let's have fun folks, this isn't a place for powertrips or freakouts about something that is supposed to be a fun hobby.

Also, before getting angry about something sent "3 hours late," consider that there are personal things going on in other people's lives, and cut them a little slack.

Comment: WOW!! What a magpie journal!! I just flipped through it when I opened it today and I am going to go back through when I have more time! MaryWolfe rated for Mister Rogers 50 th anniversary on Mar 31, 2018
Comment: Thank you so very much! I also watched the very first program in 1968 and was known for "advocating" Mr. Rogers to others! I was 6 years old at the time and even got to meet him about 2 weeks after the show began. He sang the Neighborhood song to me! Yes, I watched his video when he advocated for public programming :D. I love the little sticky notes and was SO happy I got a canceled stamp! I was hoping for that! Thank you!
Response: It was worth waiting for the stamps to be released! I'm loving how much people are loving memories of this special man.

freespirit66 rated for 30 Questions on Mar 19, 2018
Comment: Thank you so much for your thoughtful answers to the questions. The impact that you want to leave on the world (that somewhere, somehow, you made a difference) is similar to how I feel about life as well. Sorry to read about the multiple losses in your life. I had to laugh about how you'd like to get rid of folding laundry as one of your responsibilities. I agree! That and ironing are two tasks that aren't high on my list of "fun things to do" either. My heart goes out to you as you are moving through the journey with your mom and Alzheimer's. My dad had that and it is such an emotionally-painful process to watch the decline. I agree with you regarding keeping the old memories since those are the ones that they draw upon and bring the most joyful feelings.
Response: Thanks for your comment. So few people leave meaningful comments and this meant a lot to me.
SLembke rated for February 2018 Journal Swap on Mar 10, 2018
Comment: Thank you for the lovely journal. It's always interesting to see how others interpret a project. The 'slice of life' you shared was interesting and I am enjoying reading. Haven't had a chance to check out the CD, but thank you.
Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had a good time putting it together, though I know my journals aren't as artistic as most people who participate. I"m more a writer than an artist!
