About Me

I am an elementary school teacher for the 4th and 5th grades. I teach a combined class of around 20 students for all subjects. This can be complicated, but it works out. My husband helps me as my aide half a day in the morning during the school year. I teach art each Friday - I like doing simple crafts with my class. Next school year I hope goes smoothly and that we are able to resume class. I missed my in person class- it is not the same doing packets and computer lessons!

Mom of 4, 3 girls and one boy. (Ages 6, 9, 11, 14) Kids keep me busy with their activities which include dance, music, tae Kwon do, and horseback riding.

This past year I had a kindergartener, an elementary student, a middle schooler, and a high school student! The three youngest are at the same school as my husband and I.

Love the beach, sea turtles, Siamese cats, min pins, and vintage glass.

Lutheran Pastor wife. Our church has restarted our services but my husband still records his sermons and puts them on Facebook and YouTube as not all are ready to resume attending due to health concerns.

Enjoy beachcombing, metal detecting, thrifting, foraging, baking, writing, paper crafts, and reading.

Galveston area original hometown now a NOLA (New Orleans, LA) girl.

Always keeping busy. Sometimes too busy. My house is frequently a mess. I try.

Have a thing for jadite glass and beach glass. Love colored glass and art glass, not a fan of clear glass.

Like nautical and Victorian decor.

My classroom is beach themed so I feel home away from home.

I have a pet red eared slider turtle named Hawk.

We have 7 cats. Two are Siamese. Two are black. One is a tortoiseshell, one is a tabby, and one is black and white. The oldest one, my first Siamese, is 19. The youngest is also a Siamese.

We also have 4 dogs. Two I inherited from my grandma. The inherited dogs are a min pin and a long haired chihuahua and my other 2 are a jack tsu and a spaniel.

Comment: I just sent you the postcard of my experience. I loved reading yours!!! I didnt have room to share all this on my PC to you. The week of March 8th I began feeling like things were going south fast!! By Thursday, I had that feeling that school would be cancelled for at least a week or two. Sure enough that weekend on Sunday afternoon we got the text from our school (5th largest school district in the nation... Las Vegas..350,000 students) that school would be cancelled until April 14th. And then by early April we were told May 1st to return and finally that it was cancelled for the rest of the school year. My husband and I worked from home doing distance ed. What a crazy end of the school year it has been. Now we are told teachers go back on Aug 4 and students on Aug 24. Thanks again for your PC!!!

Comment: Thank you so much for your card and all the information. I have a little travel book that I put information I receive from my swap partners. Sounds like you had such a great time. I would love to Galveston some day too. Great idea about the return address, Bet I can come up with something.
Comment: Oh my goodness Trisha, I loved your note about your 7 cats! You are an angel to take in those ringworm kitties, after working in an animal shelter for 5 years, I understand the work you have to put in to rid them of that disease. Bless your heart for taking in all of those lovely cats but it sounds like they give you plenty of love right back! Take care of yourself and be safe during this crazy time in the world.
