I'm a widow with 2 girls who've given me 5 beautiful grandchildren - 3 girls & 2 boys
DD1 and I love to make clothes for the children. We work together with one on sewing machine and other on overlocker (serger?) so items get made quicker. We are also knitting for all children but much slower at that than sewing.
I have one dog Twiggy, and one cat Nugget, and a part time cat that comes to me for feeding. LOL
I'm a mad sewer, especially quilts. Also addicted to bags and newest addiction appears to be aprons. Who knew? Love bright colours and have trouble using "tea-dyed' fabrics, prefer my colours crisp.
My favourite colour is purple, have loved it for years. I do confess to liking blues & greens and am addicted to Christmas, so love Christmas colours.
Am starting to be more adventurous with quilts and craft, embelishments etc. I'm unable to appreciate ATCs even tho' they look pretty so please keep these items for those who really appreciate them. I love watching movies @ home and will give any a try. Just watched Lake House again, really love that one. I also enjoy 24, Monk and the Closer amongst my fave tv shows.
When there's time I also love to read. Fantasy, sci-fi, things that take me away. Love Christine Feehan books. These last 12 mths I have read my Robert Jordan Wheel of Time books. AGAIN I am now on book 13 and need to know 14 is being written!
I enjoy country music - Reba McIntyre rocks - and not too fond of today's music. Like stations that play from 80's.
I do also knit, especially when watching tv,movies etc. Fortunately children's items knit up quickly.
Just a little heads up - you can't send tea to Australia. Customs don't like it at all. Shame, 'cos I do. Am not a coffee drinker (can't stand the smell) but hot chocolate - now that's another story, hmmmm.
WISHLIST
This is hard for me but here goes:)
- sewing & embroidery threads
- fabric, fabric & fabric - LOL
- quilt blocks (leftovers all have a home
somewhere:)
- beads 'n buttons
- handmade Christmas decorations (knitted,
sewn, paper etc)
- pretty notepaper (for msgs to swappers!)
- maps from around the world
- sml gifts for grandchildren eg. cd of children
songs from other countries, hairclips, stickers
- chocolate, chocolate & chocolate
- I love handmade things, there are so many creative people out there in the ether :)
DISLIKES
Lots of allergies in this house so no pretty soaps or things smelling of smoke. Cat fur on items accepted - how do you get it off?
As mentioned no ATCs, can't get into them.
There are colours I dislike but must get used to them, they often "make" the quilt
- Ok, you US swappers have got me seriously addicted to LandOLakes Hot Chocs (French Vanilla mmmmm) and you can't get them here downunder:( Anyone want to do a swap? LOL
- US swappers have also introduced me to Peaches & Cream knitting cotton. How good does that feel mmm.
Re the knitting, I have found a whole new world of knitting & yarns. I finished my 1st (perhaps only) pair of socks. I appreciate them but don't think I'm going to get many pairs knitted in this lifetime. 2nd pair still going, maybe break my record of taking 2 yrs to knit?
I have found the pleasure of knitting with circulars, love them and the top down things you can knit with them.

Hope it is SEW Special
Hi Glenys, I received the coasters in the mail late yesterday and was going to rate for you tomorrow as I work crazy shift hours. Thank YOU - they are so beautiful!! Dixie
I just stopped in to check on you and see that you're going through a ton of stuff!!!! I'm sending you some hugs and wishes for a much, much better 2012.
Hello, I have you fabrics ready to go. I hope you like. I found them in a small fabric store I never even new existed. I fell in love with them because I have seen nothing like them and they aren't my usual colours. I though about quilts or patch work with these fabrics. I hope you enjoy them also.
Thinking of you today, hoping you are well and happy!
thanks Glenys for the swap card, for the Aussie Feb wishlist. they will be handy
I've been thinking of you and praying for you too. Please let me know if you ever feel like doing a private swap or if you just want to talk.
Take care!
Thank you so much for angeling the HST swap for me! You totally rock!
Thanks for thinking of me and sending the fab fat quarter in the WTA #40. Love Kate x
OMG! Most awesome RAK !!
I love everything so much!!
I love the paper and I may use some of it to catch up on my letters :) Chocolate is in the fridge re-solidifying. I think sometimes it tastes better this way anyway. Great choice there!
Armwarmers are actually BETTER than the ones I was looking at and yes, they do go most awesomely with my boots as well os many of my other clothes with the other colours you've used!! With the weather being what it is (often still cold in Sydney) I can get some wear out of them now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
