Description:

As a kickoff to the new school year, the Fletcher Library is hosting a program on August 13 entitled "Postcard Swaparoo." Children will come to the library to design and decorate postcards that will be sent by the library to those who sign up for this swap. Also, those who sign up should send one (1) postcard to the Fletcher Library, which will be distributed to the kids at the program. The postcards that are sent to the library should ideally represent where you live and say something cute and fun that the kids will enjoy. The kids should enjoy getting postcards from all over the world! Feel free to send multiple postcards - the more the better!

Additionally, everyone who signs up will be assigned a Swap-bot partner to send one (1) postcard to.

All postcards may be store bought or handmade. No one with a rating lower than 4.7 may participate.

So, for this swap, send two (2) postcards - one (1) to your Swap-bot partner and one (1) to:

John Gould Fletcher Library, 823 North Buchanan Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205

Thank you to everyone who participates! The kids will delight in receiving postcards from around the world!

What a wonderful and fun idea!

southernsara 06/24/2010 #

I love it, and I'm in central Arkansas! I knew the library name sounded familiar! I don't think the kids would be too excited about a postcard from their own state, though.

blubrrymffin 06/24/2010 #

I am so in! :-)

I can't be in, because I'm a newbie and doesn't have the 4,9 you asked. But happely you have notice the address of the scholl and I think they will be happy with a card of Maarssen in the Netherlands, Europe.

Great Swap

I'm in! As the wife of a public library director in WI, mother of a Youth services librarian in VA, & library volunteer herself, how could I pass a library related swap. Libraries ROCK!!! So do KIDS!!

leighlo 07/17/2010 #

I live in North Carolina. This is such a cool swap. Kids love getting mail. How great of a way for them to learn in the process.

Bizabeth25 07/18/2010 #

I will send something from Las Vegas

Emkay 07/19/2010 #

I guess the postcards are to be send naked? Either to the library AND to my partner? I noticed @BBQ askes for her card to be in an envy. If by chance I get partner with her, postage will be almost twice as much for me. (postage for PC is 1,30 US btw) Watching for now. I like the idea though and would love to send a PC from Germany.

Aria 07/19/2010 #

hey, can I join even if I'm a newbie? I really like this idea. I'm from the Philippines. :D

raspberryrose 07/19/2010 #

I'm sending three from Tasmania to the library - I used to love these sorts of things when I was a kid!!!

Filpot 07/20/2010 #

What a TERRIFIC idea. I'm going to make some posties with photos of our local castle to send to the kids! Hopefully France is exotic enough to make them smile!

mmbrunet 07/21/2010 #

Awww this s a very nice swap! Count me for 3 postcards from Mexico to the Lbrary.

mmbrunet 07/21/2010 #

should we write our user on the postcards sent to the Library? Or just sending is enough?

Badk1ty 07/21/2010 #

Is the postcard we send to our partner also suppose to be about where we are from or can it be about anything?

whiffofjif 07/23/2010 #

They can be about anything Badk1ty.

whiffofjif 07/23/2010 #

The postcards may be naked or not, your choice.

rubyhousesliprs 07/23/2010 #

We should write our username and the name of the swap on the cards we send to the library, correct? Or do we need to write a return address on the pc?

rubyhousesliprs 07/23/2010 #

Sending fun facts from Florida!

crochetjunkie 07/24/2010 #

already sent my pc to the library early this week

FROGGY42 07/24/2010 #

Won't we need to put our return address on the PC to the library?

Frogglin 07/25/2010 #

Swap hosts already have all the addresses needed.

NannaPhoebe 07/26/2010 #

As a newie am I able to join in, a couple of cards from Australia, with our local inhabitiants, would be just the thing

whiffofjif 07/26/2010 #

Putting your swap-bot name on your postcards to the library will be helpful. That way, we can match your postcard to your address so the kids will know where to send their postcards in response.

lou 07/28/2010 #

Sent 2 from Minnesota right away, just saw the comment that the kids are going to send back in response. I will message coordinator to see if I can contribute state postage to be used --
