Looking For
* ATCs
* Blank Penguin and Hedgehog postcards

NOT Looking For
* pink stuff
* stickers

In the beginning was The Word.
My family enjoys Nertz and Dutch Blitz (card games).
We have an adorable Australian Shepherd dog named Allie.
I've kept a journal since Kindergarten.
I used to run a mail delivery service for my parents, grandma, and neighbors.
I love playing volleyball.
Mmm..grape juice.
Sunglasses are my semi-permanent accessory.

  • Colors: most shades of blue and green. Lavender and burgundy are also nice. I don't like pink.
  • simple & quiet > loud & glitzy
  • white chocolate.
  • 100% cotton socks.
  • Items helpful for correspondence are welcome, such as postcards, stationery, envelopes, return address labels, pens (love Pilot V5 and G2 ), postage (new or used).
  • I'd like to hear about the people who are important to you.
  • No Thank You: Please save pink items and stickers for those who will appreciate them more (to be clear, not me! ☺)

I appreciate thoughtfully chosen pieces. Tell me where you found this postcard, what it means to you, or why you think I would like it.

Some themes I enjoy:

  • Lighthouses
  • Reading/Writing/Books/People engaging in these activities (Libraries)
  • Aussies (Australian Shepherd dogs)
  • the beautiful earth, nature, landscapes, sun, moon, stars
  • Happiness
  • Language and Words (such as the same word in many languages, or a greeting in your heart language). Translation appreciated!
  • Something that represents you or your story. Some examples I've received: a postcard of the church the sender was married in, a new year's card from the sender's sister, a map of the sender's city, an image from the sender's favorite movie.
  • Truthfully though, I look at the text on a postcard before I view the image. I'd rather have an interesting message accompanying a lackluster photo than a stunning picture with no thoughts.

Response: Sometimes it's hard to find momentum to venture outside our reading comfort zones. I hope if you get the chance to read this one, that you enjoy it. Paul Farmer is an incredible man; I felt very inspired reading about him. Glad this book made it! What a journey it was on!

Comment: my girls were thrilled. Smelled great to.
Response: Oh good! Glad to hear. :)
Comment: Hi Hannah! How fun to have you as a partner! Love the pc and did you like the book if you have finished it? The one I am currently trying to get through for Book Club is not my cup of tea, so keep putting it down to read my Kindle! LOL! The Route 66 exhibit is supposed to be at the MHM for several months I think - you might want to check on-line. I will not make the April church crop as we are supposed to go out of town (sort of bumming because it is the post card show and the stamp show in St. Louis - the stamp show was $10 to get in but had tons of awesome vintage post stamps, so...). I would only go to Crown Candy during the day, the area can be very rough at night, just saying! But the food was amazing!! I was find something at the Flea Market! LOL! Anita and I are going to Aurora, MO the end of April for a Junkapolloza - staying in Branson, so will be a fun time! LOL! Saturday was a scrapbook day, but Anita and I were going to the casino to see the Michael Jackson Tribute for her B-day - it was amazing!! So lots of good stuff down this way - we really need to make plans to visit at some point! LOL! Hugs and Happy Swapping! (Now if you get me as a partner for the postalette swap, what will I chat about? LOL!)
Response: I am still working on Better--was on a trip to NC and finished another book while I was gone. :) Hope you've had better luck with your book club read! I trust we will get the opportunity to connect at some point! I am eyeing the postcard show and sorry you will miss it. Enjoy junkapolloza!

Comment: Thank you so much for the wonderful towel, I always need then. The chocolate will be gone right after my salad and the postcards are too cute. Love it all. Hugs, Mona
Response: Glad to put the towel in your hands! I hope the chocolate was good and the postcards made it in good shape--I was worried they might bend or wrinkle the way I crammed them in there! Thank you for the rating and heart. Have a wonderful week!

Comment: What a clever notecard! Love it! I used Mad Libs back when I taught English--great for learning parts of speech! BTW, yes, I am a size 10 shoe, and while it is easier now than when I was growing up, I have a hard time because I have such wide feet, Anymore, I go up to an 11 in athletic shoes especially. Love you PC of Cuba. I would LOVE to go there--how lucky you were to go! Thank you!
Response: I struggle with having wide feet as well! Hope you can soon fulfill your dream to go to Cuba!

Comment: Hannah...I enjoyed reading your nice long letter. Hopefully I will soon send a reply to your questions. I have not been doing a lot of swapping due to planning my daughters wedding in May...YIKES! It is almost here. Her married name is going to be KLINE!!! Thanks for the fun letter and the extra goodies enclosed. Hugs and happy reading and swapping...Charlene
Response: How exciting! And fun to hear of her new surname. I don't know much of my dad's family history, but perhaps she is marrying a distant cousin. Fun to think about! Good luck!

Comment: Thank you for the cute postcard and lovely letter. I'm sorry for the late rating. The exhibition happened quite suddenly and we had only 3 weeks. But it was a success. I will tell you all about in my re-send letter (so sorry you didn't get the original.
Response: Thanks Ksenia! I am bummed the original went missing as well. Congratulations on the exhibit! I look forward to hearing about it and receiving your next letter.
Comment: It arrived, and I am so jealous of your stationary! Money well spent :) It's so pretty!
Response: I find most of my stationery in thrift stores! :) Glad it made it. Thanks for the rating and heart!

Response: Thank you, Liz! Mom has been going back and forth--thank you for thinking of her.

Comment: Thank you so much for your note! That sounded like a great conference. (Okay, Please tell me you were not writing while you were driving.) LOL! I know it is always good to get together with family but I'm jealous of those 2 stationary shops. We are in the 3rd largest city in the US and we don't have 1. It is so hard to find stationary and postcards here. Note cards are everywhere. Have a great weekend! Hugs, Diane
Response: Haha, sorry for my handwriting--NO! I did not write while driving. :) What a drag that there are no stationery shops! The conference was good, and the one I was preparing for went well this past weekend. And I've see n my brother again this weekend, too! Funny how things can come full circle. Take care. See you in another swap!

RAKs (One on one trades -public forum) - the square cards have finally arrived! Strange that it would take over a month to get here from IL, but it happens. Thanks very much; I'll for sure use them.

njstauter on Jan 10, 2017:

Got your pages today and deeply appreciate all your comments. I think our life is about showing up and being part of the process more than it is meeting some goal set for us. You did great.

simcoe54 on Dec 30, 2016:

Thanks - I love the cards that you sent for - Who wants square cards? RAK. They are really nice and will be put to good use. You wondered what Boxing Day is? It is a day when all the stores put their Christmas items on sale at highly reduced rates. Also, stores have big sales especially on electronic items like tvs. Sort of like Black Friday in the U.S.

THANK you for the RAK I received from you! Blessings, cc

I think some of the teddy bear's blog posts are in English, too, as it has a couple international toy-penfriends. ;)
