I've been on Swap-Bot a couple of months now, and some things I have taken from it:
Hi! I'm Sandie. I'm from Long Beach, CA (currently living in Huntington Beach with my mom...my dad passed away in Dec2018, so I've been staying with her). I am a single gal with 2 furbabies (the love of my life, my dog Tulip, who is pictured below...isn't she the cutest!?!?! LOL!...and my fat cat Miny, short for Minerva). I LOVE anything dog related, or anything with octopuses or bees. I have several bee tattoos, and will be getting an octopus one soon too :) I also love travel, and I try to go somewhere every couple months. I've been too financially strapped to do so recently, so I'm using Swap-bot as a way to reach out instead! (Cures my love of adventure AND being creative at the same time!)
I LOVE art of any kind. Fine art, crafts, music, dance, performance....anything! I was raised in a family that valued creativity. My mother was a fine artist by hobby, and a graphic artist by trade. My father was a woodworker. My sister is a ceramic artist, plus she teaches ceramics at the college level, too!. I'm the only one that doesn't work in a creative field! (kinda sad for me!!! LOL) I LOVE to make things tho. I have dabbled in photography, painting, metalsmithing, fiber arts, paper arts, etc etc etc. I have SO MANY art supplies, I thought it would be fun to swap some with ya'll! My current obsession is paper arts, and i'm brimming with old books, old paper, and ephemera! I've been making junk journals, and analog type correspondence. I just love it! and I'm growing a quite impressive collection of washi tapes (teeheehee!)...my preference is for florals, vintage'y looking designs, and abstracts. I've been on a sewing kick too! I've started using scrap fabric to make all types of pouches. My mom, sister, and I made 4 t-shirt quilts with my dad's old t-shirts, and I've been going CRAZY with the scraps! I need to start an etsy shop to deal with the stuff I've been making! LOL!
I love reading biographies! I'm currently reading about Chernobyl (I remember when the explosion happened...I cried and cried thinking the world was coming to an end!). My next up book is John Doe's second book, More Fun in the New World, about the LA punk scene of the late 70's/early 80's
I'm a girl of the 80's! I love old new wave and punk. My favorite bands tend to be smaller bands that play at smaller venues. If you've ever watched True Blood, and remember "Fangtasia"...the club where they filmed that is literally 2 blocks from my house, Alex's Bar, and that's the PERFECT place to see music! I've seen all kinds of bands there, and even watched live karaoke there! THAT's my kinda jam! I see X (an LA based punk band) whenever they're in town, and I've been on a huge Mariachi El Bronx kick lately! I also love Foo Fighters, but as I get older I'm not so much into the crowds :) I also love bluegrass, and trip hop! I'm kind of all over the place! LOL!
Just to get an idea of where my head is:
I love dogs (and all animals really)...I love octopuses...I love bees...I love vintage design (from victorian to 70's retro)...I love old paper...I love fabric...I love watercolor paintings...I love shiny nail polish!...I love heart shaped things...I love anatomical hearts too!...I love hand illustrated drawings and paintings of wilderness (bugs/birds/animals/trees/flowers)...tulips, hydrangeas, and pansies are my favorite flowers...I love science illustrations....I love old book covers...I love handmade rubber stamps...I LOVE anything handmade really...i love recycling trash for different purposes...I love craft beer and wine...I love YELLOW..I love washi tape and stickers (NOT words, holiday or religious) and i subscribe to all 3 stickii monthly subs! i'm addicted!...I love milk chocolate with nuts (or caramel)...I love valentines day...I love kawaii...
Please don't share your political views on your profile. Keep in mind that there is a WORLD of people out there that may or may not agree with you, and by being openly unwavering on views that someone may not agree with, you're putting people in a bad position when they have to graciously send you a gift (swap). Saying "that's all i'll say" doesn't change that. How about just don't even put it on your profile in the first place! :)
Not a fan of hard candies, or anything that gets stuck in my teeth. I'm not particular to modern country music (but I love ol' hillbilly type stuff and bluegrass!).
Although I love washi and stickers, I'm not a fan of words or holiday washi tape/stickers. I prefer florals, vintage designs, abstract art.
I am not religious, but don’t mind beautiful religious symbols and architecture (just don’t try to sell me:-) But really, if I get something I cannot use, I just pass it on (i stole this from another swap-bot user because i think she just worded it beautifully!)
