About Me

Hello fellow swappers! I’m a 37 year old guy living in South Korea, but originally from the USA (Florida). Travel is a big passion of mine. I’ve lived and worked in a few different countries and visited over 40. Some of my favorite places/cultures are Italy, Japan, Germany, and mountainous regions in North America like the Canadian and Colorado Rockies.

I’m an English teacher in a small city in the middle of Korea called Chungju (pictured above). "Chung" actually means center, so it is literally the center of the country. It’s a beautiful place with many lakes, rivers, and mountains surrounding it. We are also famous nationally for our apples! One of my favorite things is taking morning walks through the apple orchards while listening to music.

I've lived in Korea for over ten years total and can speak the language, so it really feels like home. I get a bit of anxiety every time I visit the states because it feels more foreign now than Korea does. Life is easy and wonderful here! I'm also happy to do any private swaps if you'd like to exchange for Korean things like K-pop, beauty products, special papers, etc. Just send me a message!

I joined Swap Bot because I tend to spend more time at home these days. In my younger years I was always going out with friends to bars and parties, etc. I guess now that I'm getting older the domestic country life suits me more. So, creating swaps is a fun way to connect with people around the world and feed my artistic side. I love taking the time to make something really special for my swap partner.

I enjoy listening to music, reading, watching movies, or being creative. Crafting is kind of a new hobby, but others include sewing, bookbinding, playing piano, photography, fussing over my houseplants, and macramΓ©.

Themes and Colors

I love plant and botany themes, although I'm not big on floral designs.

I like all things vintage and old maps!

Also space, the ocean, or animals (mostly orca whales, dogs, sloths, bears, really all animals except cats, haha).

My favorite colors are earth tones such as green, any shade of brown, and dark red. I like anything made with craft paper and neutral tones.

I personally don't like pink, pastels, too cute or kawaii.

I love postcards! I would be happy to receive any postcard from your home country, art, graphic design, weird and strange postcards, etc. If you have a card you feel hesitant to send because it is raunchy or too strange, please send it my way, haha.

I am not picky on what I'd like to receive. Some ideas are washi tape, memo pads, blank cards, letter sets, stickers, pens, die cuts, tote bag, or candy, etc. Just have fun and be creative! I will appreciate anything sent with thought and care.

Comment: Thank you for the beautiful Seoul card! Some of my favorite Korean dishes are soondubu, bibimbap & of course, kimchi!
Response: Mmmm, kimchi. Yes!! I just made a large batch because the cabbage is in peak season here. Thanks for the rating and heart! ❀️
Comment: Received your box yesterday. Thank you for all you sent! Which was way too much! Was only to be $4. worth. And, Wow, The candy! Holy cow! You trying to get me fat, lol ! It saddens me, that I will not get to use the grapefruit mask. Anything perfumed I can't use and it stinks! It is due to Psoriasis, that I can't use perfumed things. So, I will have to let one of my daughters use it, boo hoo! Thank you for the jester however. I love all you sent though! Esp. the socks. They will come in handy for our winter months ahead. Sounds like you have quite the busy life as a teacher. But I bet it is very rewarding for you.
Response: I'm new to the package swaps, so I think I've been going a bit overboard lately. Need to scale it back and take the maximum requirement more seriously, haha! I have gobs of candy that the school gives us, so I use it as a package stuffing rather than bubble wrap. Sorry about the grapefruit mask, but hope your daughter enjoys it nonetheless. Warm wishes to you and thanks for the lovely rating!

Comment: Wow! You have sent so much! I love everything! Especially the hand cream set and the writing paper set...also the candies! Thank you so much! ❀️❀️❀️
Response: I'm glad you liked everything and it got there so quickly!! Those hand creams are great. I'm using them all the time now that it's so cold here. You were also my partner for the Profile Based Happy Mail that you hosted, so expect another package in a week or two. πŸ˜„

Comment: Thank you for the beautiful card and stamps! I have a friend who was living in Korea and she talked about the hot springs she enjoyed visiting. They exist here too, but the ones I know of are very far away from me- at least 2000 km away! If there are some closer, I haven't heard of them!

Comment: Hi and thank you for the parcel you sent, it was very generous! :) I won't rate you down as you clearly put thought into the swap and the requirements for this swap were not the clearest, but I think this was meant to be a mail art happy mail swap - the main thing being a self made element such as a flipbook or a pocket letter, then store bought goodies as extras. I could be wrong tho, so thank you for the mail anyway!
Response: I did take time and care to decorate the package in a way that I thought would make you happy, so I am sad you would think to rate lower than a five. Also, if you check the swap page the host clearly said, "It does not have to be a pocket letter, flip book or loaded tag..." In any case, I hope you enjoyed opening everything and best wishes!

Comment: Thank you for the beautiful β€œblue” card! I hope you had fun with your friend from Japan.
Comment: Thanks so much for your adorable postcard!

Comment: Thank you!
Comment: This card is so cute! I love the bird and their lil pink buns and the one bearded guy's jaunty hat! I'm so jealous of your banana washi!!! These astronauts are great, too. I've had a few ghost encounters. Your ghost, PJ, sounds so sweet. I was once led through a pitch-black forest at night by a very benign ghostly presence when my flashlight punked out. I just let myself be pulled and made it safely through without touching a single tree or falling into a hole or ditch. Thank you so much! I'll look up the banana pudding recipe, though I live in the American south so it's everywhere! Haha!
Response: Woah, very interesting story of your ghost! I'm glad you liked everything and the card. I've tried many a banana pudding in my time, but that one is the best. Thanks for the rating and heart. Best wishes!
Comment: Sorry for the late rating. I found quite a lot of unrated mail behind my desk, when I was reorganizing my studio. No idea how or when it fall there. Thank you for the postcard. I love Japanese food too.
Comment: Thank you for the awesome llama postcard. I bet it was fun with "Karl".
Comment: Thanks for the great card!! My first from South Korea!
Comment: Thank you so much for the wonderful goodies, especially the dragon pc and cat stickers! I loved the tea too, everything, and the letter of course :) I'll be replying! Happy Swapping!
Response: You are very welcome! I'm glad you liked everything and will look forward to hearing from you. Hope all is well!

Simply green with envy after reading that you are living in South Korea :-) Like you I adore traveling - but in my case I have "only" visited 34 countries- and S. Korea is definitely on my bucket list. Hope you're enjoying every minute of your stay there.
