About Me

Yet another UPDATE: 19/5/22 We've had a couple of weeks of heavy rain which is causing flooding again. My house and immediate area is fine, but I think it's slowed down the mail here, so if I'm slow with rating please be patient. I had no mail arrive all last week, then suddenly four letters came yesterday, so fingers crossed things are starting to get moving again. I'll try and get things rated as soon as they come in.

UPDATE: 31/3/2022 Although my partner has Covid I'm allowed out of the house after all because I've already had it within the past few weeks. I'll mostly be here looking after him but it means I can at least post my own damn letters! Yay! Here's hoping that's it for these updates and things can resume some kind of normality now.

UPDATE 30/3/2022 And we are back in iso. FML! If I can't get out to post upcoming swaps in a timely manner I'll see if my neighbour can do it. Fingers crossed it will only be 7 days this time.

UPDATE: 26/03/2022 That was a less than pleasant couple of weeks, but we are all okay and allowed out of the house again. I should be caught up with my current swaps in the next day or so. Onward and upward!

UPDATE: 11/3/2022 My daughter just tested positive for Covid, so now we all have to isolate for at least 6 days. I won't be able to go to the post box (for the Americans, in Australia they don't take outgoing mail from you at home, you have to go to a post box or post office to send stuff) for a bit so there might be some slight delays in getting swaps out (or longer ones if I get really sick). Fingers crossed.

UPDATE: There is a lot of heavy rain and flooding in my area (Ipswich, Queensland, Australia) at the moment. I'm currently up to date with sending out swaps but I imagine there will be a bit of a delay with them getting to where they are going because there are a few roads that have been cut off by flood waters. I'll be staying indoors high and dry as much as possible for the moment. Stay safe, fellow Queenslanders!

Hello! I have always loved writing letters and getting things in the mail other than bills, which is why I joined Swapbot in 2020. I live in Australia and enjoy reading, creative writing, drawing and gardening. I'm vegan. I love animals, even the creepy crawly ones. I like horror movies and 80s fashion.

ART- I love reading zines, though I have only made a couple so far. I have been enjoying making some ATCs. So far I mostly hand draw them but I want to practice some other techniques. I started an art journal in 2021 and am learning some mixed media techniques (got a gelli plate, having some fun!). I appreciate handmade paper, stamps and ephemera I could use for my journal. I'm also learning to use watercolours, so anything related to that would also be great.I also do a bit of embroidery. I'm not very good at it, but it keeps my hands busy.

Update: January 2022- Happy New Year! 2021 was not the greatest for me, as for many people I imagine. I have had more time for swaps since I finished uni for the year last October and will likely continue to until I go back to class at the start of March, health stuff permitting. I sometimes have flare ups of some chronic health stuff, and I usually stay on top of things I have to send but sometimes fall a bit behind in rating people. I'm working on being better at that.

Mail to and from Australia and overseas (especially the USA) is really slow at the moment, and my penpals' letters seem to be taking about 2 months on average to arrive. If my letter is taking a while to reach you that might be why, though I'm always happy to resend if something has gone astray. Just let me know please.

Update: May 2021- I've been super busy with uni lately, and had some annoying health issues, so I'm afraid I've been a bit slack about responding to thank people for ratings (sorry), though I have still been getting swaps out on time and I try to rate swaps as they arrive. Postage between Australia and some other countries still seems to be slow (I've had postcards take more than a month to reach me), though it seems to have improved since last year.

Likes/Interests- Animals (dogs, cats, spiders, that weird lizard that shoots blood out of its eyes...) gardening Movies - horror, the odd rom-com, 80s movies zombies vampires bats 80s fashion K-Pop- I'm new to this, but I love BTS and Blackpink Cloth patches/badges- I sew them onto my jacket. Chocolate Weird earrings (some of my favourites that I have include a pair made from human teeth and some shaped like miniature toasters). Wire wrapped jewellery plushies two headed cats sci fi fantasy novels cryptids Moomins Harry Potter Soviet memorabilia tea Aussie hip hop Skepticism Creative writing

Dislikes- Misogyny, homophobia and racism Right wing politics Animal cruelty Depictions of dead animals or stuff about hunting Pseudoscience Mariah Carey (just her music, not her as a person) Coca Cola

Tea- I'm not a fan of chamomile, fennel or liquorice teas (I HATE liquorice), but I love any black tea, green tea, chai, herbal or fruity teas. I can't have dairy.

Favorite Books

Jane Austen (Persuasion is my favourite). Fantasy- Ursula Le Guin, The Hobbit Kurt Vonnegut Sci fi JM Redmann Romance- Molly Harper, Stacia Kane, contemporary rom coms, some historical. Agatha Christie Terry Pratchett Douglas Adams

Favorite Television

The Magicians, Farscape, She Ra, Owl House, Xena Warrior Princess, My LIttle Pony Friendship is Magic, How to Get Away With Murder, Wynonna Earp, Killjoys, The Expanse, Altered Carbon, Star Trek Voyager, Preacher, The 100, No Offense, Elementary, Offspring, K-Drama (Hotel Del Luna, It's Okay To Not Be Okay, Sweet Home, Mystic Pop Up Bar...)

Favorite Movies

The Descent, Practical Magic, Triangle, Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Hocus Pocus, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2016, Moon, Bladerunner, Always Be My Maybe, One for the Money, Wonder Woman, The Fast and the Furious series, Ghost in the Shell.

LIKES: Cards with animals, spiders, pictures of places (landscapes, buildings), K-Pop, Star Wars, Moomin, Soviet cards, vintage cards (even better if they've been written on), rainbows, bright colours. Lenticular cards. Home made is cool.

DISLIKES: Anything religious, ad cards

Scratch and Sniff stickers.Anything with rainbows, sparkly stuff, animals, plants, mushrooms, fairies, goblins unicorns, My Little Pony, K-Pop, Star Wars, cryptids, zombies, Neurodiversity pride stuff. My favourite colour is purple.

I recently started collecting stamps. I like used stamps from around the world, but especially from Russia, and any with pictures of birds, insects, animals, Moomins and cartoon characters.

Comment: Thanks! Currently I'm reading The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra. I probably won't read the rest of the series, but it's a decently amusing story with some ✨misunderstandings✨
Comment: Thanks for sharing your list! Hope you got your work done, too. :) I'm familiar with a few of the books you mentioned, but not sure if I've read them or just seen them on newsletters .... Interesting selections! :)
Comment: Thank you so much! Love the Bluey sketch and doggy stickers

Comment: Thanks! I'm going to try archery for the first time, too, this weekend. My sister's coming to visit and bringing her compound bow, and we're going to an outdoor range.
Response: You're welcome. I hope you have fun with the archery. I haven't tried a compound bow yet but apparently they're more accurate.

I'm looking forward to celebrating International Beaver Day!! hahaha I have never seen one in the wild either, which is disappointing as it's our National animal in Canada! Comment: Thanks so much - I love the little Fresno Nightcrawler drawing you did! Also - where did you get the fabulous cryptid washi tape? I've been obsessed with it from the first swap you sent me using it :)
Response: I'm glad you liked it. The washi was from Etsy. I can't remember the seller off the top of my head. I'll look it up.
Comment: You had a great month of reading in February! I was looking for my next audible title and have downloaded the first in the series with Zero Chill. I've also added truly darkly deeply to my wishlist for when it's released on there in July.
