About Me

Hello! I'm Tracie from South Bend, Indiana. Still working from home, vaxxed but still masked.

Yes, I know I sound like a cranky old lady. Unfortunately, I'm the frequent victim of flakers lately and it hurts.

I take swap details and deadlines very seriously and I will NEVER flake on a swap. If you don't receive a swap from me, let me know and a replacement will be in the next day's mail.

If your life is complicated, you have health problems, you are working three jobs or whatever, stop joining mail swaps. Multiple deadlines and swap requirements are not going to make your life less complicated.

I will leave 1s for swaps not received. I always let my swap partner know before leaving a 1. I will change the rating to a 3 if I receive something.

I'm a small business advisor by day and I have a freelance copywriting side hustle . I also resell on Poshmark, Etsy and Ebay. Mom to Mixi the cat and Pip the dog.

Favorite Music and Books

  • Recent adventure (and last adventure since COVID) - Bob Dylan for my 9th time. I've been listening to Sob Rock by John Mayer over and over, which means it must be good because I didn't think I liked John Mayer.
  • The Beatles
  • Bob Dylan
  • Bruce Springsteen
  • Michael Franti
  • Rockabilly
  • Howlin' Wolf
  • Chuck Berry
  • Patti Smith
  • The Clash
  • Blues
  • Old school punk
  • Old school hip hop
  • Most recent read: I'm currently reading Clapton: The Autobiography by Eric Clapton. Recently finished Karla and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro.
  • The Stand by Stephen King
  • Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake trilogy
  • John Irving novels
  • 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Favorite Movies and TV

  • Recent views: Barb and Star Go To Vista del Mar (Hulu), Evil (Netflix)
  • A League of Their Own
  • Romy and Michelle's Class Reunion
  • Wes Anderson films
  • What About Bob?
  • Groundhog Day
  • Schitt's Creek
  • Blues Brothers
  • X Files
  • British crime dramas
  • Chicago Cubs baseball
  • NBA and college basketball

Health and Beauty Swaps

  • The Body Shop strawberry, olive or mango shower gels and/or lotions
  • Organic, cruelty-free shower gels and lotions
  • Small business brands
  • Aveda, Alba, Mario Badescu, Pacifica, Dr. Bronner's, The Honest Company
  • Lush soaps, including/especially the small bars
  • Lip balms in fruit flavors
  • Fruit and flower scents are my favorite. I seem to be sensitive to lemon scent (even though I love it) - it aggravates my asthma
  • Handmade, aromatic soaps
  • I don't have a bathtub so as cool as bath bombs are, I just use them to make my drawers smell good ;-)

Etsy Favorites/Amazon Wishlist

If you're in an Etsy Favorites or Amazon Wishlist swap with me and you can find one of my items from those lists for less money (Tim Holtz items, for example), go for it! Please make sure it's an exact match, though. Thanks!

Favorite Crafts

  • Quilting
  • Art journals, junk journals
  • Die cuts, Cricut, paper crafts
  • ATCs
  • Handmade envelopes
  • Altered postcards
  • Anything with sparkles

I Like

  • My favorite color is blue, particularly aquamarine (blue leaning just a tiny bit toward green).
  • Blank notecards w/envelopes
  • Retro design, especially 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s
  • Letter sets, notecards, vintage stationery - I've been lucky to come across so much lovely vintage stationery lately
  • Sparkles, glitter
  • Celestial themed paper items
  • Your artwork in the themes of bees, celestial, mail, pixies, 1980s
  • Fabric scraps or squares - 1", 2", 3"... up to 6"
  • Animals, especially dogs, sassy cats, squirrels, sea turtles, racoons, bees (anything with these themes)
  • Die cuts in any of my favorite themes
  • ATCs
  • Paper ephemera of almost any kind for junk journals (however, I don't create journals from junk, even though that's how junk journals started; no trash, please)
  • Sunflowers, peonies, lilies of the valley
  • Whimsy (nothing made for children, please)
  • Milk chocolate - on its own, with nuts, with crispies, with creamy centers (Cadbury Eggs!), Reese's peanut butter cups - especially the minis!
  • Gummies - bears, worms, mini bears, peach slices. But not gummy sours.
  • Black tea (including flavored black teas) - store brand black teas are usually very good.
  • A quirky sense of humor
  • Pixies (with the little hat, no wings, a little mischievous)
  • Stickers (not reward, kids, alphabet or free, please), I recently discovered AliExpress - how did I survive without that website?
  • Quilts
  • Swatch watches (really anything 1980s-themed)
  • Fabric - bright patterns, Laurel Birch, Kaffe Fassett, florals, dog- or cat-themed, Christmas-themed, lime green, turquoise, mustard
  • Vintage Barbie
  • Mid-century modern
  • The 1980s were my decade - big hair, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, neon colors, mini skirts, spike heels (reason for my 2012 foot surgery), rockabilly, new wave, thinking I could have that much fun forever
  • Art glass, glass art, stained glass
  • Thrift shops (I'm gaga over thrift shops!)
  • Michigan, my Michigan (anything Michigan themed, Kalamazoo-themed, Lake Michigan-themed)
  • Paris/France/French
  • Ireland/Irish
  • Belgium
  • Marvel super heroes
  • Vintage notecards and lettersets
  • Kindness
  • Pens and pencils (Nothing too nice, I work with clients and my writing utensils disappear fast)
  • Essential oils (but please don't solicit me if you sell them)
  • Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joann gift cards (for swaps with a specific $ amount - like stocking stuffer, holiday gift swaps, etc.)

I Don't Like

Please don't send me: * Anything that would make a young child or tween happy. I like cute things, but nothing that's specifically for kids * Items you've received and don't want unless it's a match for something listed in my "I Like" section or matches the swap I joined * Items that should be thrown away because they're dirty, damaged or actual trash * Alphabet stickers, phrase stickers

I also don't want anything to do with * Politics * Racism * Religious messages * Animal cruelty (even jokes about) * Crude humor * Gratuitous nudity * Sales pitches * Dark chocolate * Green tea, herbal tea, rooibos tea * Gum of any kind (I have a lot of fillings and crowns) * Stickers that are meant for children - very basic design, limited intricacy, cartoonish characterization, are obviously for children
* Gingham fabric (checks)

  • I love used, in good condition items IF (and only if) they are among the things I've listed as liking or loving.
  • Mini journals, handmade 'zines, ephemera for collaging
  • Vintage or themed measuring tapes (I can never find one when I need one)
  • Handmade envelopes - some of you are so talented!
  • Any flat item in the following themes: Bees, sea turtles, Paris, squirrels, raccoons

Comment: Hi Tracie! I love your postalette! I go through times where I can easily find them and others not so much (or any paper goods) - I am glad you are having an easy time finding them and hope you will continue to join the swaps! Yes, we are about 20 miles from the IL/MO border, so support IL sports teams and work in MO. Well, currently I am working from home but when I have to return to the office it will be in downtown St. Louis. Thankfully we are not on different time zones, as I can see how that could get confusing! When I got married a friend asked me that because she was from IN and ran into the something! Thank you for making my day with your Happy Mail! All the Best! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: You're welcome - thanks for the inside scoop on your stateline experience! We're our own sub-group, aren't we? :-)

Comment: Hi Tracie, appreciate the WONDERFUL swap you sent me. The swap work you sent me, be it an Art piece or a collection of something, I really have enjoyed both the Art or the collection of some kind very much. I am doing my very best to get swaps rated. I will say that I really enjoy letting my swap partners know how much I appreciate your swap delivered to me. So, I will do my job and rate every swap I receive, but I can't say that it will be done quickly, time may be my only friend. I do appreciate your patience and understanding. These 2 things always go along together . I try to extend these two strong qualities to my partners when asking for more time or something else. WOW! What a GREAT collection of items that you found for me that were in a shade of PURPLE. I really appreciate the variety of the items you sent to me. I look forward to using the many items you sent my way. THANK YOU! I hope we meet again on Swap-bot. Until that time arrives, I wish YOU many WONDERFUL swaps, but also I wish you many wonderful encounters. . Until we meet again, HAPPY SWAPPING! Barbara B., sleepingrover2010
Response: Thank you, Barbara, for your kind words :-)

Comment: Thank you so much for the wonderful card. I love it. All the goodies you added are very nice as well. We do have a lot in common. I don't know that I have a favorite quilt style yet. I have done a lot of the old fashioned patch kind as well as some with definite pattern to them. You sound like a wonderful person.
