About Me

8/2020 Update:
Everyone be safe and hang in there! School is starting digitally this week, then transitioning to in-person. We'll see how it goes. That's my phrase this year -- "We'll see."

If anyone needs an envie of used stamps, let me know. I'm getting quite a backlog, and also found some from 1986(!) that I saved. I have both international and US. Just let me know. Please help me not be found buried in my office under a pile of paper.

International Mail Note: I'm nervous about my international mail arriving safely these days, so please don't hesitate to tell me if it's been an abnormally long time for a swap or if it arrives with postage due. There's something hinky about the USPS postage calculator online right now and it'd difficult to be sure about amounts. Just let me know and I'll reimburse you.

I never flake on swaps. Ever. If you have not received a swap from me, please send a note and I'll replace cheerfully and immediately.

I work for the VA and am extremely busy, so often I can only work on my swaps on the weekend, and may send out near or on the last day. This may cause a delay in rating as well. However, I ALWAYS rate and I ALWAYS send on time. Rating is super important to me and I like to devote time and effort to it, and really let the person know how much I appreciate their time and generosity.

pic of me

I'm 45 years old and neuroatypical (autistic), and wouldn't choose to be any other age or way to be. I'm a mama of two (ages 16 and 13) and have been with my beloved best friend husband for 21 years. I love to laugh and joke, but can also be very serious. I love sunglasses and have about 20 pairs that I cycle through. I have two black cats that are siblings and a huge menacing calico who despises them. I drink massive amounts of Lime LaCroix every single day. I am a grateful member of Al-Anon and Adult Children of Alcoholics and will gladly hear about and share on these topics if anyone wishes. I'm a court transcriptionist, for veterans mainly, and it is very fulfilling work.

I make dioramas out of televisions and cigar boxes and am working on several right now, one is a vintage circus and one is going to be Shackleton's Endurance ship. I am hoping they won't take 10 years to finish as my last one did; (see below). Update: They are going to take 10 years.

one of my dioramas:

I love tiny things and plastic toys which I incorporate into my dioramas or put into shadowboxes or just fill up jars and put them on shelves. My obsessions change from day to day and I often get sucked into a rabbit hole researching different topics.

My hobbies include needlepoint, cross stitch, cooking, reading, crafting, traveling, SLEEPING, and listening to music. I'm originally from the Detroit, Michigan area but have been living in the south for 12 years now.

I'm NOT a super picky swapper and will not give low ratings just because something doesn't exactly match my standards. Those things just get put back into my swap box to be sent on to someone who will enjoy it better. I will not be offended by much of anything unless it's hateful or bigoted, and will love anything profane or funny or weird or kitschy or bizarre.

Postcard and Ephemera Likes

I prefer artsy or funny postcards over touristy, but I will be happy to receive any postcard, naked or in an envie, vintage or new or ad. I definitely enjoy handmade postcards, too. You can send me all the weird or "gross" postcards, bugs and creepy creatures, scary women, wtf cards and I will be ecstatic.

Specific topics I like:
nature and natural history,
aboriginal/first nations art,
EYES and eye imagery,
birds, especially blue jays and cardinals,
science fiction,
the supernatural,
huge things,
tiny things,
folk art, outsider art,
strange tourist destinations or attractions
insects, esp houseflies or beetles
warrior women,

radical progressive politics,
things about voting,
amazing women politicians,

Fandoms: Supernatural (Destiel forever),

Favorite Television

I am a HUGE Supernatural fan. Recent loves: Upload, Killing Eve, Belgravia, We're Here, Picard, Discovery, What We Do in the Shadows, Hanna. I think Schitt's Creek was one of the best shows ever. Loved Broad City.

Currently bingeing: Trapped (Icelandic mystery). Just finished rewatching Downton Abbey for the third time. I thought the new Perry Mason was understated and good. Excellent art direction.

I love old movies, especially 40s movies with Betty Davis or Cary Grant or Margaret Sullivan or Humphrey Bogart. TCM is a staple. I was raised on musicals and know almost every word to most of them (whether I want to or not).

I don't have many and will absolutely not rate down for these. Just a list if you're wondering what things I don't really have a use for and that automatically get put in my giveaway box:

planner stuff
kawaii stuff (except Twin Stars)
things that glorify drinking (ex. Wine-o-clock, etc)
perfumey stuff (except patchouli)

As I said before, I don't like anything bigoted or hateful or white supremacist. I'm not a Christian, but I don't mind religious items or prayers or things like that. Jesus seems like he was a cool guy. I wish more people were like him.

Favorite Colors

My favorite color is orange. I also love rainbow patterns or color schemes.

Comment: Thank you so much for all the Green! I found your envelope behind my desk when we were moving furniture to repaint the walls. I have to blame my cats who occasionally go crazy and dart through the house leaving mass destruction in their wake. Going to have to keep them out of the cat nip!

Comment: Wow, you really have some interesting items! I wonder how old that stationery set is - cute images. I appreciate the postcards and postage stamps...and everything. Thanks for sharing with me.

Comment: Thank you so much for the lovely envelope filled with all these goodies! I can definitely relate to your letter: I, too, am feeling sick of my own cooking... but spicing things up is a great way to not only try new recipes but also give yourself a chance to take your mind off what's happening outside. You've made me hungry for some okra! :D Thank you!! xx
Response: Thank you for the heart! :):) The okra turned out so well that I'm getting more this week. I'm going to try it in chili. :):):) THANKS!

Comment: I love the whale ferry PC and your note, thanks so much!! I can't say I have any cool nicknames related to my birthday, but my friends often call me Jnap because I'm notorious for falling asleep in the most difficult of places, including sitting up at a bonfire with balloons popping over it, on a kitchen counter at my birthday party, on a set of stairs while at Rennaissance Fair, to name a few, haha! Happy summer to you too!!
Response: Haha, that's awesome! Happy napping and thanks for the heart :):)

Comment: OMG what an amazing swap! Every single thing was so perfect and so *me*! The patch is going on my jean jacket immediately. Savannah is on my short list of places I have to go (when we're able to travel again). I just love everything you sent - thanks so much! Take care <3 Oooh, and P.S. - "Bram Stoker's Dracula" - still in love with the movie, but yeah, the accents were just unfortunate. Lol And I'd watch "The Big Lebowski" daily if I had time. I'm actually an ordained Dudeist Priestess. At least it's an ethos, right? :)
Response: Yayyyyyy! Savannah is well worth a trip. It's one of the few places that I've visited multiple times. A Dudeist!!! Love it :):):) THX!~ Oh, and I just found a clip from a magazine in the 90s of Dracula and Mina making out, so I hid it in my husband's office. Waiting for him to find it....hee hee

I'm reading through your profile after I rated you and saw your remark about Lime LaCroix. We recently discovered Key Lime LaCroix and it's wonderful. I buy it at a business Costco; someone was picking up a box and I asked about it; she said she likes it more than Lime so we tried it and now we're hooked.

Welcome to the Artisan ATC swap group. I think you will love our group... a very talented little community! :-) your favorite colors remind me of Okinawa, Japan. They loved using pink and orange together (at least in the 90's-when I was there!)

WnWHS Great American Pies Month Profile Swap

I enjoy many different pies, but my favorite has always been walnut pie. My mom and I would gather walnuts from my grandfather's tree and I would help to crack them. It is made the same as pecan pie, but uses walnuts instead of pecans.
