Hey guys, I'm Beatrice! I go most often by Bea.
I am 24 and currently reside in the heart of Oklahoma City, OK (USA). I work in a call center for now, but am going back to school in August to finish up my English degree. I hope to teach English abroad!
I love learning about where others call home, and I have always loved traveling and meeting new people. I love culture and diversity and leaning about individuals. This is a way for me to do it vicariously through snail mail!
Vintage, retro and antique style is my thing. There is just something about the quality and style of things past that draw me in.
I can't wait to hear from you, and send you bits and pieces of my life.
I dig:
Monograms (B's, E's, and A's, please!)
Handmade
Retro /Vintage
Horror/Macabre
Western
Altered books
Earth tones (browns, greens, reds and yellows)
Fonts and typography
Leaves
Bees
Insects
Paisley
Trees
Henna
Feathers
Scissortail Flycatchers
Peacocks
...Okay, birds in general
Oceans
Mosaic tiles and pieces
Misc. craft supplies
Hot chocolate
Tea
Art reproductions
Not so hot on:
My main thing is that I don't really need any "knick knacks" or dust-collectors. I prefer imagery that I can hang up, postcards, letters and craft supplies.
Overall though, I will be nothing but thankful and humbled by the time and effort you put into a swap, and can appreciate any items I receive.
I love reading! Find me on GoodReads!
My "to read" list is never-ending, it seems. I really enjoy auto/biographies, history and other non-fiction. I love being inspired, and reading about extraordinary people or events always helps keep me motivated!
I also enjoy fiction, but I am more picky about the type. The problem is, it varies more by writing style than subject so it's hard to rule out genres all together. Overall, I seem to enjoy Dystopia (from 1984 to Hunger Games). I JUST began reading the Harry Potter series, and love it! It's so great to go on that journey for the first time as an adult. I've yet to get into sci-fi, but I'm always up for suggestions from all genres!
I LOVE to crosstitch, and am always looking for patterns/floss/fabric. I especially love vintage needlework! The above sample is NOT of my own doing, unfortunately.
I am a huge fan of altering things. I'll alter anything, especially books. I am always looking for any sort of imagery (magazine cut outs, scenic photos, etc), found objects, paper scraps, etc. to add into my little altered creations.
I really love monograms - anything handmade/found with the letters B, E or A! I will proudly display them in my home.
My craft-related goals would be to learn how to machine sew, crochet, knit and especially quilt! Man, I love me some quilts.
I cherish these swaps. I have kept items from every swap I've ever done, and have the majority of items displayed in my home. Your efforts will not go to waste!
After taking a three year hiatus from Swap-Bot, I'm back! Life got too crazy for me to put proper energy and love into my swaps. Due to my finances, I'll be sticking mostly with Type 1 and Type 2 swaps. I love Type 3's the most but can't justify a ton of them right now.
I work odd hours, but I should have no issues sending things off in a timely manner. I live right behind the post office! If, for some insane reason, I am ever late sending off a swap, chances are I'll know ahead of time. I'll let you know ASAP if I won't be able to send off a swap, and when I will be sending it. It hasn't happened yet, but I never underestimate life's ability to get in the way.
Thanks so much for taking the time to look and for swapping with me!

Hi thanks for the comment. I love Henry rollins, I saw him in my home town a couple of years ago, amazing!
I would recomend the picture of Dorian gray by Oscar Wilde, it's brilliant! very dark , it was the only novel he wrote. Also a book called constance, it's about his wife , and it's brilliant ! xx
Hi Bea - Ioved reading your profile and can relate to your desire to live near the ocean! I'm in Virginia, about 2 hours' inland from Virginia Beach, and I any time I'm near the water, I have to get to the shore. Congratulations on outlining your goals, and working towards a change of careers. I wish you the best as you finish up with school, and I hope you find the perfect spot to apply your gifts and abilities. Wherever you land - they'll be lucky to have you on their team!
If you're interested in being pen pals or friend on Facebook or Instagram, just message me. I, too, recently reeturned to Swap-bot, and I'm more interested in 'quality' over 'quantity' of the swaps I sign up for.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year!
Hugs, Ilyse (Happy Mom)
Merry Christmas!

oh hi friend :)
That story really made me laugh! I understand the stereotype thing - I'm from rural Pennsylvania. When I first moved to Charleston, I had several people literally ask me if I was Amish. I just didn't even know what to say...there are no Amish people really in SC, so they didn't know any better. :)
We seem to share a lot of interests. Mind if I add you as a friend and then maybe sometime in the future we can do a private swap or something?
