About Me

I live in central Texas with three precocious cats, in order of age (NOT intelligence): LuLu (male), Baxter, and Cookie. I enjoy
* reading,
* paper crafting,
* journaling,
* planning,
* essential oils,
* knitting,
* gardening/xeriscaping,
* coloring,
* yoga,
* memory keeping smash book style,
* snail mail/pen palling/happy mail/postcards, and
* Bible journaling and study.

I have always loved to read. I especially like mystery/thriller types of novels (John Grisham, Dean Koontz, Lee & Child) and the occasional romance. My current favorite series is about Armand Gamache and is written by Louise Penny. I don't typically re-read fiction, but this series I plan to!

My favorite books are The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and Watchers by Dean Koontz.

My non-fiction shelves consist primarily of Bible studies & theology, yoga, and genealogy & history reference.

I always have one hard copy fiction, one audible fiction, and 1-2 Bible studies going at a time.

media favorites

I enjoy television more than movies because I appreciate the talent it takes to keep the audience involved for years in a plot. All time favorites include Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Alias, LOST, Big Bang Theory, and x-Files. I may have been a Survivor fanatic since it started. :)

I get hung up on fascinating podcasts sometimes. So much so that I want to take notes on them. Like Serial, Undisclosed, etc.

I spend too much time pinning things I'll never do on Pinterest or in craft swap Facebook groups.

I enjoy knitting (I can only do parallelograms - nothing fancy! - but I'm all about the scarves and potholders) and genealogy.

I'm still trying to find my paper crafting niche....I'm experimenting with making cards, pocket letters, embellishments, flip books, etc. I also love playing with paint. I use journaling cards, stickers, ephemera, etc. in my journals and planners. I use napkins for Bible journaling. So many napkins and bits and pieces that I love...I need to get into collages and glue books!

current junk journal themes that I'm collecting things for: * frogs,
* beach/sea,
* tea time,
* farm animal,
* bear,
* mouse

journaling & planning

I love memory keeping (smash book style, a little Project Life style) and planning. I've had a paper planner all my life and I love seeing more people getting involved in it. Some of the things I'm currently using:

  • Hobonichi cousin avec - memory keeping
  • Happy Planner classic - swap and pen pal logs
  • Happy Planner classic - scripture writing & gratitude
  • standard midori TN - planner
  • standard midori TN inserts - Bible studies, errand runner, craft supply inventory (it's a problem that I even need this)

favorite things

I collect/hoard journals and notebooks and office supplies and paper crafting supplies and napkins. It's an obsession.

I also collect mouse figurines and images, Gorjuss girl mini stamps, and location/vacation spoons.

I love butterflies, dragonflies, cats, and mice so they show up in my crafting a lot.

snail mail stuff

POSTCARDS! I love collecting postcards around the world and am a postcrosser! Please write a little about yourself... what makes your town special, what you're currently reading, what your plans are for the weekend. anything!. I love them addressed, written on, stamped, and well traveled!

PEN PALS! I love snail mail and would love to have more pen pals, especially outside the United States.

sending/receiving swaps

I mark items sent once I leave in an outgoing mail box or the post office itself. If I leave after my daily mail delivery, I assume the postmark is after the next day's delivery (and pickup) but considering how slow my mailman is, I can't guarantee it is even processed the same day! I try to compensate for this unknown in my sending. :)

If you don't receive, please PM me before rating. I may have a tracking number or other information to locate it and I am always willing to resend.

I rate upon receipt because that what I want people to do for me! But please know that I don't go to the post office to pick up mail every day. :)

Rapsy rated for R&W: Thankful for TECHNOLOGY! on Oct 28, 2020
Comment: Thanks so much for your email! You know, I think this past year has highlighted how difficult it was for some people with physical or mental limitations or who were just shy to do things even before all this. In a way I hope some things never go back to "normal". I've found telemedicine amazingly convenient for routine visits. And you mentioned church, I used to sometimes have to argue with my mother in winter about it "Ma, what God wants is for you not to have a broken hip, He'll live if you're not in church!" but she would feel bad. Now her Mass is online and she's grown quite used to it and I'd love to see it continue even afterwards. Take Care! :)
USAFwife rated for R&W: Thankful for TECHNOLOGY! on Oct 26, 2020
Comment: It sounds like technology has worked well for you, as well! I'm happy to hear you are able to try out some new things thanks to technology as well. :) I'm with you on books - I still prefer actual, print books. But ebooks are pretty darned handy, aren't they? :) Thanks for sharing.
Comment: That cat quote is very true. Last year, we adopted the most anti-social, social cat I've ever met. She doesn't accept pets, but she's constantly rubbing up against us to get the pets she craves.
Comment: Thanks so much! I love the postcard. And I'm definitely going to have to check out Hobonichi - maybe it'll be a good substitute for my Smash book addiction! Take care :)
Comment: Thank you for the cute Texas card. :) I hope you aren't melting TOO much. We only lived in TX for a few months, a long time ago, and the heat and dry - I can't take it! I'm a wimp! haha It's only been HOT here the last few weeks, so it's not terrible, so far. Did you like Ozark? I liked it more than I thought I would, and my hubby really liked it. We went through Mindhunter pretty quickly too - have you tried that one yet? Thank goodness for Netflix, huh? :) Take care!
Comment: I'm so glad you're able to work at home and are safe and sound :):) The numbers here in Georgia are deplorable, but we're here and safe at home as well. I love this eye card! Very cool. Glad we're in the nutty calico club! The vet says the whole breed is like that! So cantankerous. But mine loves me to death, so there's that. She's always at my feet. I had a groomer come once and she brought her back in half shaved and told me she was too vicious, lololol. Thanks for a great swap! :):)
Comment: The Nightingale was so good! I can’t wait to see the movie. Thanks for the extra pc.
Comment: Thank you!
Comment: Thanks for you cool Texas card! Take care and keep binging.
