I think you should make this 10+ hearts and a minimum of at least 4.5 (I'd personally prefer 4.7, but hey...I'm a little strict). That's because I know of at least one person who has 13 hearts but has a low rating and has defaulted on her last 3 swaps, and they weren't even involved ones. So I'd personally feel much better if there was an additional requirement besides just the hearts.

okay ill be changing the joinign rules :D im htinking 4.7 or above...and no more than 1 no send ( or having a 1 rating that the perosn says they have not recieved) Newer swaps-those with ratings within the last week or signups- will not be counted because soemtimes swaps take a time to get in. But if there is a 1 rating over a month ago or more...then that does count

Tip :If you have to send a package to Europe please wright the 7 with an extra line in the middle . Offently postmen take the overseas 7 for a 1 !

Little question : If possible can you put real stamps on the packages ? Not those ugly white postoffice things :o))) I know many stamp collectors overhere and real stamps are very rarely this days .

If it's a heavy package I think you have to put that white sticker on it. Every time I've gone to the post office to send off a package, they place the white sticker on there..

If the postage isn't too much my local postee will use "real" stamps if I ask nicely and he can find enough room for them. But if the package is heavy, he can't because they don't make "real" stamps in really large denominations anymore.

Oh yeah it's nice that everyone has the hearts. I've sent extra's to every single one of my swaps except the postcard swaps. I got one heart for a post card. lol So I'm not going to bust my hump trying to get hearts if people I swap with don't want to acknowledge the extra's I've taken my time, money, and effort to share. Oh does that sound like a bit of whining or what. lol Oh well I'm sorry but had to give my 2 cents to someone. I really do hope that you all enjoy this. I'm not going to beg those I have swapped with to give me hearts.

I know what you mean HeatherS - I always add extras when I can (kind of hard with a postcard huh? lol), but don't always get hearts. I really think it's a matter of numbers: the more swaps you send, the greater the odds of getting some hearts. Maybe we should do a swap specifically to GET a heart?

I love the idea. I've been thinking about starting one for 10 plus hearts for a while, you beat me to it!! So I'm in, can't wait.

and just a "note" - if you go to usps.com, in the US, you CAN order stamps that are as high as $14.40! - and as of the 14th of May, you can use ALL packaging, even the "Domestic Use Only" priority and express packages, for international.

I also get a Philatelic catalog 4x a year, with ALL the stamps that are available in the US, and the new ones coming out until the END of the year - there are some really fabulous stamps coming up this fall....(it's free, you can get one by calling 1 800-782-6724) - (1-800-stamp24)

anyway, just so you know - not all the local PO's carry all the stamps that are available.

Question for all of you in the 10+ Hearts Club: I've started to receive exchanges with notes requesting a heart rating. Is that a 'good thing?' It is my belief that receiving a heart is up to the rater and should be a fun, UNEXPECTED surprise to the sender. So, if someone sends a few extras in an envelope and asks for a heart, I'm inclined to thank the person for sending the ATC and collage elements, paper scraps, ribbon, whatever is included, but not give a heart. I thought hearts were to be used to acknowledge extra-special contents of an exchange--exceptional work or thoughtful extras,ABCD (above and beyond the call of duty), rather than the leftover scraps from making ATC's. That said, I do like to receive those leftover scraps and try to pass on things I think others may be able to use and enjoy--but don't expect or ask for heart ratings when I do so. Let me know what all of you 20, 30, 40, 50+ heart recipients think! Thanks!!!

anndri - I think that expecting a heart, if even more - hosting or participating in a swap that result in receiving or giving hearts basically make the whole heart thing unusful - the whole point of it is to make the other person know you were extra happy with what you've given them.

I usually don't send anything that's not in the swap requierments, and I don't give hearts to people who send more stuff then they were supposed to. I give hearts when I'm extra impressed with what I got, and I hope the hearts people gave me are cause they were extra happy with what they got.

andri --- I agree that it is weird to ask for hearts, it should definitely be up to the receiver and it should follow the rule if it was something thoughtful, not just some spare stuff sent along (if I got tons of extra papers, nice, clean and even expensive, I would probably not give that person a heart if the papers were in my unpopular color I especially mentioned in my profile) - it can be just 1 small item that makes your day, right?

However, I feel it is OK to kindly ask not to forget to rate when it is time - I don't count many of my previous swaps as "closed" because there are still some people who did not rate me and who do not respond to my messages - the uncertainty is surely unpleasant :P

Anyway, I can't wait to start with this swap :) It should be fun! :)

I know I have sent things in the past that I thought were heart worthy and didn't get one...I didn't complain though...

Thanks for the feedback, being asked for a heart rating threw me for a loop and having read about this swap, thought you might be a great 'focus group' for my question. It's funny because I do like to be generous when rating people with hearts--and completely agree that when you receive something that makes your day or knocks your socks off, it's worth a heart IMHO! The flip side is that when indiscriminantly (is that spelled correctly?), they become meaningless.

No allergies, but as I'm in Australia, I don't think things like incense would get past customs. Other than that, anything goes. thankyou

I have never gotten a request for a heart, nor would I ever ask for one (it wouldn't occur to me). I'm amazed that you've gotten that request, anndri, and I'm interested to learn of it. I try to be generous and thoughtful when I send a swap, but once it's gone out in the mail, I never give it another thought and getting hearts later is a cool bonus. I think heart ratings are in the eye of the beholder (and the heart of the recipient/beholder!). If you read the person's profile and zero in on something, the thing that generates a heart could be as small as a comment about something the two of you have in common or a crazy picture postcard. I like to write a letter or a note to the recipient, along with the swap -- if possible, but I know not everyone enjoys writing or has time to do it. swap-bot is SO much fun and it's the great people that make it so. Thank you!

wow...i cant belive people would be so rude to ASK for a heart on a feedback...a heart is meant to show extra love from the person recieving....and only THEY can give those out if they feel they should...not because someone asked...like me..i have gotten several recent 5.0 ratings for swaps...they were basically letters only...i did not recieve a heart and i did not expect to...i dont plan on going off to those people saying...please leave me a heart...grrr beans

She sent 5 punchs, 5 stamps, stickers, a purple candle it smells great, paper, a Scrap Brick that has over 3,000 die cut pieces its so cool, I have never seen anything that it before. Jeaneen, I am glad you liked what I sent. This swap was fun. Now to add my 2 cents worth about asking for a heart at rating time. I feel it is just plain tacky. I would be inclined not to give one just for that reason & would write to that swapper & tell her so & suggest she not do it to others.

I have to say I don't feel spoiled at all. My package arrived on Monday. My partner sent me a note saying that she had a hard time finding anything in her area to fit my profile.

Ooops. Sorry -- I didn't finish my message before it "sent."

Anyway, my partner sent me a generic version of her own profile. I got cutsie pink things -- not my style at all. I put the pens in my desk drawer and gave everything else to my 7 and 9 year old nieces.

Honestly, we had over 6 weeks to do this swap. If she couldn't find things that I'd like locally (but I like tea, chocolate, nice coffee, yarn in natural fibers... how complicated is that?) then perhaps she could have ordered something by mail.

I don't mean to be grumpy, but I had hopes for this swap. I thought it would be different.

How can there still be so many people that haven't sent? It's more than a week past the send date and people with really good (and some not so good) ratings are still marked as "Not Sent". I'm surprised (and a little dissappointed.) :(

My partner (veggiemommie) has no send on, so sad. Mine was sent ages ago, even though no rating yet so little worried.

Stiffed again...

I heard from my partner back on July 1st asking for more time. Not a problem. A day or so later, she said she needed to devote more time to her child due to his health. Again, not a problem.

I wrote to ask how her baby was doing on the 18th, but she hasn't seen it yet as her last log in was the 17th.

It's time to rate and I'm just not sure what to do. I don't want to be a cry baby, especially when there's a child involved. Do I rate her with a 1, saying I'll change it if I receive something? She currently has a 5 rating with many stars.

I'm a bit confused, to say the least.

Deb B. - I have faced the rating delima too. I rated 1 with a promise to change if I go something when I did not hear from my partner. I did not rate as long as they were in contact with me. I have been lucky that I have not had promises go on for so long that I had to decide to rate a 1.
