  • Timor-Leste (East Timor) is a tiny country in South East Asia. I had the absolute privilege of teaching English at this new and growing school. They're so blessed to have a new building with the finishing touches needed now. A real and worthy cause. https://chuffed.org/project/tais-school-auditorium#/supporters

About Me

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my profile.

I live in Australia. I'm a teacher. I have a fluffy ragdoll cat, a few house plants and a super cute sponsor child. I love drinking coffee and tea. I like collecting scraps of paper and turning them into happy mail - I think that's called ephemera and fussy cutting? I sew and feel so proud I can make my own clothes. I love the idea of upcycling and like doing my part for the environment. I've found my love language to be giving thoughtful gifts and have found many answers in life from realising I'm ENFP. I'm a Christian and am on a journey with Jesus. I love to sing and have quirky taste in music and many things.

When I'm teaching I love to see the brave creativity of kids. Most small kids don't care if they make mistakes and those who do, I love seeing the moment of pushing through fear. I really can learn a thing or two!

I love to make time for people, laugh and listen to their stories. I have traveled and enjoy meeting new people, trying new foods, seeing new sights from all cultures.

Australia: I love our unique animals and community spirit. Most people of this huge island country are kind-hearted and love having a joke. Meet my Dad and you'd know this fully! Also, please understand it may take a while to receive from me once sent due to postal systems. It's so expensive to send international and even locally as well so I'll take swaps slowly. And too, Covid.

My craft experience: My Mum just loves all of them and dabbled in all through my childhood. She's super talented. She definitely gave her love of this to me. I enjoy trying new things and recently swaps, pen paling and happy mail have interested me.

Well I hope I can brighten your day somehow. I'm new-ish to happy mail so bare with me!

I'm honestly not here for the receiving but I've found this section helpful on other's profiles when sending. These are just some things of note, I'd be happy and grateful with most things you would take time to send!

I like - all colours but orange is my dear favourite followed by blue, blank postcards and any happy mail that can be disassembled and passed on in love to someone else, happy for you to share most anything because I don't have a huge amount of supplies. Things that are handmade by you. Learning about your country and where you live.

I don't mind - cheeky/sassy/funny cards or postcards, 'Frozen' themed things, sci-fi

I dislike - anything satanic, mythical, witches, fairies etc., overly embellished things, Victorian/Parisian/Shabby Chic vintage style.

Need to know anything else, please ask 😊😊

Comment: Thank you soo much for your swap! :) I would not mind reading a letter from you actually, although the swap said no need to write a letter :) Maybe next time - and hopefully by that time Hungarian Post will also allow postage to Australia! It's still not working... :(

Comment: I love your note-taking bookmark idea! RIght now, I'm reading Blindspot, and started taking notes on sheet paper, but this will be much handier! Actually, Phoenix is far from flat! It is surrounded by mountains. Not super high ones like the Rockies or the Alps, but mountains nevertheless. I actually am very uncomfortable in flat places. Can't stand Nebraska, Kansas--not a mountain in sight. Have you seen the film, "Meru"? It's about an attempt to ascend that peak which is much more challenging than Everest. I love books about mountain climbing too. Thanks for the recommendation! Also loved Australia--I took a group of students up the coast from Sydney to Cairns way back in 2002. I want to return and see more of your amazing country. Such wonderful, friendly people!
Response: You're so welcome. I'm glad my little idea can help. I've not seen Meru and I'm always up for great mountain doco/movie. Hopefully you can come back someday! Who knows when we'll be able to travel again right?
Comment: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, LOL, YOU DID NOT! A hug and a kiss for doing the whale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response: Aww glad you love. The white whale is honestly so exciting to spy. He's so rare and unique. I love that you're so unique too! I thought it was a perfect match. Much love,

Seriously I was going crazy over how cool it is, then I opened up and was over the moon excited for the painted envelope you may for me and I can't wait to use. You are so very talented and should do more painted envelopes because you are very very good at it. I love the different elements on it, and the picture of the beach being near you, the whole thing just turned out so good. And the fact that it came fromAustralia made it more special, I don't beleiveI have swapped with anyone from Australia until this lovely package came to me. If I could give you 100 stars I would! THanks so much Nicole

Comment: Thank you Beth for joining my swaps! I love hosting these on a weekly basis. Glad to hear you are doing well. The situation in NYC has gotten so much better compared to months ago. We are slowly opening back up again.
Response: I'm so glad to hear. Happy you received the tea too! Bless our postal workers. Thanks for organising!
Comment: Thanks so much for the beautiful post card. I was really happy to receive it. We're in Stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne and I can't leave my postcode for another month. Mail from international penpals isn't getting through, so yours is the first mail I've received in a long time. It really made It special. So thanks for lifting my spirits :)

I enjoyed reading your letter too! I actually have that book on my bookshelf waiting for me to get around to it. I am glad to hear a good review as I bought it just from reading the back in the store at the time.
Response: You are so welcome. Hope you enjoy! I feel like it's the type of book you'll read when you're ready or when you need it most. By the way, I'd love to be your penpal!

Leaving kindness swap Hello Beth, Allow me to welcome you to Swap-bot🌻. I hope that you will enjoy meeting and making many new friends from all around the world while on Swap-bot. It has introduced me to some great friends. You’re a teacher of children, color me jealous! I know now at 64 that I would have loved to been a teacher when I was younger. I have taught the Bible Time line to 5th graders at our church for 13 plus years now. Their little minds are like sponges and what an investment you are making their young lives. Keep up the great job and remember to take care of yourself. I commend for being a teacher. You are touching lives for generations to come🌻 Blessings, May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Hello, reading your profile I feel that we share so much in common. Since I was a little girl, it’s been my dream to visit Australia. As a replacement, I work at an Aussie restaurant 🀣 Dress making is so unique! Not many people do this anymore! So cool You seem very humble. Children are the purest form of the human race. We should all turn to them for lessons. Have a beautiful day!

God, continue to bless her in all she does. May You guide her heart and allow students to be touched by her spirit.

Leaving kindness: β€œYou are enough. You are so enough. It is so unbelievable How enough you are.” I had this sent to me this morning and thought it was an important reminder for all.

Hello. Thank you for your comment. I have to admit, I have trouble finishing things I've started. Even bookmarked a book by Guy Kawasaki to help me finish things I've started.... which I haven't finished. ^_^*** It's OK.

My letter writing project was something I set up parameters for and basically told everyone I knew so I felt I really couldn't back out of it. Had to learn to let the writing urge ebb and flow. When it flowed, I wrote. When it didn't, then I would at least journal and therefore, have something to share with others when I was willing to share again. =)

Anyway, welcome to Swap-Bot! Stay sane and enjoy.
