Just a note - I have a family member who's been hospitalized for some time now, and even after discharge, she will probably need long-term care. I have been home only every few days up until this point, and it may be the same for months to come. I have been able to keep up with my swaps so far (they've been a welcome respite from everything else), but I may be late in submitting ratings since I'm not home all the time and I'm a bit scatterbrained. I apologize to anyone who's missing a rating - please send me a message or email if it seems like an unusually long time has passed. I think I'm all caught up now, but things may get lost in the shuffle during this period. Thanks for your understanding.
Although there is still much to take care of, things have stabilized a bit and recovery is going OK. Thanks to everyone for their understanding during this time, especially those who extended prayers and well-wishes for my family. ===============//=================
My name is Mary and I'm a graphic designer based in northern Virginia (close to Washington, DC). I've been married to my husband, Joe, since 2007. I spent the earlier (and longer) part of my career in biology, but have recently made the switch to more creative work (YAY!). When I make artwork, I often use watercolors, gouache, pens/pencils, and computer graphic tools (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite). I also enjoy using Posca markers (super fun!).
When I'm not being artsy, I like to do a bit of gardening, cooking/baking, sewing/knitting or watching a good flick or show. I like a wide range of genres, but some pieces I've liked include the Sherlock Holmes series, Dead Poets Society, Goonies, The Little Prince, several films based on Jane Austen works, the Harry Potter movies, and Marvel flicks. Same goes for music, but some favorite artists at the moment are Ladyhawke, CHVRCHES, Lupe Fiasco, Sia, and Family of the Year.
I've always had a passion for anything to do with art, crafts, stationery, and design, and I'm excited to share that enthusiasm with fellow enthusiasts here at Swap-bot! I also love the personal aspect of snail mail and getting to know people for who they genuinely are (the hope is that the feeling is mutual!). It's been a joy receiving swaps, especially knowing that people have taken the time to write or put them together. I also enjoy putting fun swap packages together (I can't help but include extras, heehee), so I always hope my partners are happy with what they get! If you have any issues, please message me and I will work with you to resolve them!
I'm sure there are a lot more likes I could list here, but just can't remember everything at the moment...
