Comment: My thoughts and prayers are with you, that with God's help he can show the way and to give you strength to cope with the your situation, I pray for the loss of a child that with God's help can help them cope, with every blessings jennifer.
Comment: Sounds like you liked the Gargoyle more than I did (it was a beautiful book and I liked the quirkiness; the main character was just too egotistical for me to ever really like him). Thanks for sending your thoughts! :-)
Comment: Thank you for your nice comment and the song!
I'm a primary school teacher, so I teach almost all subjects. History and the creative lessons are my favourite subjects. My speciality is children with special needs (autism, etc.). What do you teach?
Response: I teach Special Education too! I am glad you like the song :o)
Comment: Thank you for sending your reading log and your thoughts about the books; it was great reading through them. I've got several Nin books on my Mt. TBR, so it was good to hear your thoughts on the one you made it through.
Comment: I loved reading about your book selections! I'm particularly interested in King Leopold's Ghost. It seems to cover similar subject matter as Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, which I enjoyed, but it wasn't exactly what I would call an easy read. I'm glad to hear that King Leopold's Ghost is an easy read, and I'll be looking into it! I love A Christmas Carol, by the way, I hope you do too! :)
Response: I have read Heart of Darkness too, and felt the same way. The author of Leopold's Ghost talks a lot about Heart of Darkness and where some of the characters may have come from! Glad it was one you'd be interested in. Happy reading!
Comment: Hey Miss Ashley :) Thank you for the teabags! I'm drinking the vanilla/nut one as I write, it's so good (and caffeine-free, which is good because I don't want to lose my good night's sleep) :)
Comment: Thanks for sending your reading log. I've been wanting to read Oscar Wao ever since I hear Diaz speak at my conference a few years back. Now I've got a better idea of what to expect if/when I get to it on Mt. To Be Read. What an interesting variety of books you read this month!
Response: Thanks - I always have an odd mix! That's neat that you have heard Diaz speak. You will have to let me know what you think of the book once you get to it - my to read is always a mountain too :o)
Comment: Thanks for sending your reading log. As a hockey fan, it sounds like I totally need to track down a copy of JR and read it! Maybe even buy it for my mom as a Christmas gift. Happy reading in September!
Response: I am glad you liked it! I was worried that no one would appreciate that one, so I am SO happy you did! xo
Comment: I love it! After my older son was in kindergarten the kids in his class started using Miss for all us moms and it has stuck with a few that still call me Miss Tina even now that they are in 6th grade.
Comment: I've found Chuck Palahniuk's books to be hit or miss. Some are a little too dark for me. Sounds like you had a good one there :-) The Nazi Officer’s Wife sounds fascinating. I'll definitely have to track that one down some day. Thanks for sending your list!
Response: I am glad that one looks good to you! It is a good read. I can see that with Chuck - it could easily go a bit too dark! Have a great summer :o)
Comment: Hi:) Thanks for the PC! I'm still disappointed I missed getting the jubilee stamp set!! In an odd twist of fate I was however presented the jubilee medal. If only it came presented by the Queen! Sometimes I wish I had become a teacher tjough. I think about going back for an after degree in Education but I'm not sure I have the patience anymore lol! I hope you enjoy your summer:)
Comment: thanks for the Canadian envelope and other surprises...I have visited BC and Vancouver and a few other cities way back in 1973! It was safe to thumb across Canada back then and we stayed in the youth hostels along the trans Canada hwy for 25 to 50 cents for supper/breakfast/showers/a bed and a fruit for the road! not safe these days but a great experience back then.
Response: that sounds absolutely amazing! i wish we could still do that. i would be out the door and on my way!
Comment: Thanks for the Vancouver pc with the "Sleepless in Seattle" quote.
Although it doesn't contain the word "magic" in it, one of my favorite quotes is from "When Harry met Sally": "When you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to begin as soon as possible."
Response: I love that one! Thanks for sharing and I am glad you liked the card :o)
Comment: Love your card, and esp. your note. I worked on 6th St in New West and know that area a bit. I certainly know the bookstore on 6th just downhill from Carnarvan. Great shop, I've bought quite a few things there. Did you say there are "good ones" plural, on 6th? Where are the others?
Used book stores are my favourite haunts... I even worked in one for a while. It was about five blocks from my house. Talk about a dream job!
Response: There are two across the street from each other on 6th!
Comment: Thanks for your log Ashley! I like how you set it out in a table and with the book covers. I was glad to read your positive reviews of The Great Gatsby and A Game of Thrones, because I have both of those on my soon-to-read shelf. I may also give Anna Karenina a read as I saw the movie!
Comment: I love the Oscar Wilde Quote! Thank you very much... You've got three of my wish list in the great gatsby, anna karenina and the book that everyone has told me i 'have' to read in game of thrones... I haven't tried the tv series on purpose toread the books first.. I think you've inspired me to give it a go!
Comment: I've been planning to read Anna Karenina for years but have never gotten around to it. It's size is probably why though I did read Les Mis this year. The Game of Thrones books are big too, but totally worth reading. :)
Comment: thank you for sharing!! ohh you have an awesome summer plan!! my cousins live in vancouver and they do so many fun activities!! i still haven't try rafting there.. i wish i could backpack to many countries still.. i only did once in singapore =(
Comment: I love the Game Of Thrones books. I started those years ago. Since Mr. Martin takes so many years now between volumes, I am holding off till he is through and then start from the beginning instead. Sounds like you know how to enjoy a summer though!
Comment: Thank you for the note and ATC decorations. I also have the Hunger Games Trilogy on my Kindle (would have preferred to read those ones on paper, but it was just so handy to have them in e-book!). :o)
Comment: Thanks for sharing your two dogs Louie and Laila with me! Glad you were able to rescue them! Misti (my kitty) was not quite a rescue like that but as a kitten, no-one wanted her and if I hadn't taken her, she was going to the pound.
Comment: The Chickpea-Tahini casserole looks much like a recipe I used to use from Vegweb.com. I often add mushrooms and peas. :) The Fatoush salad looks good-I've never had it-and I like everything in it except the mint, so that's one's definitely going to get made. This is the 2nd recipe in this swap I got that called for sumac! Have you used it? What does it taste like? Thanks for joining my swap and for the neat recipes. :D
Response: I am def going to try mushrooms in the casserole, that sounds amazing! I love sumac, because I really like tart type tastes! Check out this website, it always helps me with spices when I have no clue what they are! http://www.thespicehouse.com/spices/powdered-sumac
Comment: Excellent summaries - some of the books I have read and enjoyed as you have , such as The Hunger Game Series which I devoured - and many i will read due to your recommendation. thanks for sending!
Comment: Oooh, goody. Got my cd today. THANKS! I'm going to resist all urges and hold off on listening to it until my drive to work on Monday morning. But I'm looking forward to it already. Several artists on there I already love.
Also... You're going to see Mumford & Sons? Wow. JEALOUS. I actually looked on their website to see if I could drive somewhere to see them. Not really close enough. Sigh.
Hey, I'm a bit uneasy that you haven't received mine yet. I sent it over 2 weeks ago. If you don't receive it by early next week I'm thinking I should resend it. Keep me posted. Thanks!
Response: you have to let me know what you thought of the music! don't worry about your package, it will get here :o)
Comment: I enjoyed your comments. I had the same feelings regarding submitting to the Lord while reading the chapter, but there was so much in the chapter I mentioned other things instead on some of the questions.
Comment: Thank you for taking the time to answer each question. A tattoo shop for you and your man sound really amazing. Most tattoo shop's suck in Edmonton. A book and art store would really be nice to have everyone love that. I think going to Paris with someone you love would be special.
Response: Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed the read :o)
Comment: Thank you for sharing. I'd love to hear more about your time serving children -- it's one of the things I am passionate about too. As for the last line of your email, I could say the same. :o)
Comment: I just found your post card. I LOVED the picture of Pisa. I was in Pisa 3 years ago, but our guide rushed us through so quickly, I never got a feel for the place---it's like to have this overhead view!
Comment: Hi Ashley: I got your recipe and I would like to try it (love cooking and baking), but the problem is we don't have molasses here (no idea what is that) and we don't have clove powder either. I will try to find substitutes for those ingredients. Big hug.
Comment: How funny Ashley! We both said Marilyn Manson's Autobiography and Alabama as our name from a state! =D also we both picked Phantom of the Opera as our favorite musical. i thought that was pretty neat. !
Response: i love it! marilyn manson's book is amazing. i wish i had it with me so i could read it now :o)
Comment: thank you Ashley for resending. I never did get the 1st one but I got the resend (it was marked "replacement for lost card") Who knows where the first one ended up. I appreciate your quick resend and being very pleasant to deal with :)
Response: I am more than happy to send another one :o) *Resent postcard 20/03/2012
Very happy to hear that you received!
Comment: Thanks Ashley! It was great hearing from you. Anytime I hear of the United Arab Emirates I think of this hotel we studied in my hospitality class. I would love to visit there one day. I would also love to visit BC too! I like that scripture as well, and it reminds me of the fireproof song. Have a blessed day!
Comment: Hey :) just got your postcard this week, but it was postmarked Feb 19th, so I knwo you sent it on time.It was worth the wait. beautiful quote and beautiful postcard. I love the zebra and the foreign language just adds to its beauty. Thank you.
Response: I am glad that you like it. It is from our local zoo here in Al Ain :o) xo
Comment: Wow!! What a wonderful package! You put a lot of thought into it and I love everything! I'll be sending off a response package very soon! I'm so glad to have a new penpal and can't wait to try everything! Thank you so much!! :)
Response: i am so happy it arrived! the mail sometimes takes a bit from here. i hope you enjoy the teas and that the cards/coins fit well with your collections xo
Comment: I wanted to thank you again for the great communication! So sad that Middle East politics gets in the way of swapping! Today I received a very sweet surprise package from beaglemom on your behalf. Thanks for arranging that! Happy swapping!
Response: I am so thankful that beaglemom was happily willing to help us out. Hopefully one days these barriers between countries will stop interfering with people who just want to be kind to each other! Thank you for your understanding and kindness. xo
Comment: I'm in the EXACT same boat - I look at the paleo diet/lifestyle and think it would work well (especially in combination with lifting weights), but I could never handle eating animals again. Staying stable is always better than gaining, too - good job. :) Here's to hoping for a loss next week for both of us!
Comment: Ashley, you made my day! The postcards are breathtaking. I'm absolutely thrilled with them. I love your letter -- it made me smile the entire time I was reading it. And the Tim Horton's menu is such a lovely touch. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness!
Response: I am so happy that you like the cards! I have been waiting to get a Canadian to swap with so I could send the menu - nothing like Timmy's! xo
Comment: Thank you soooo much for the wonderful selection of teas from Sri Lanka, Ashley! I can't wait to try them! And thanks so much for your lovely note....so nice to hear from a fellow Canuck from abroad! The stickers are sweet too! Many hearts to you, my friend! :)
Comment: Thank you so much for your great movie recommendations. I have had 'La Vita e Bella' on my list of movies to watch for awhile now so now I'm gonna get off my bum and actually go get it. Thanks for that inspiration :)
Comment: Wooohooo! You made my day! Thank you so much for the great assortement of tea and especially for the wonderful card. You seem to travel a lot and lead an adventurous life. Wow! I´d also love to see Sri Lanka once in my life. Best wishes and good luck for the future!
